A Trip Back to 1990 - Chill Out (KLF)

A Trip Back to 1990 - Chill Out (KLF)

An album which seems to have almost been forgotten but which was once almost ubiquitous at the after club smoke and come down. Ladies, gentlemen and other pronouns, may I invite you to sit back, enjoy and Chill Out...

One of the best chill out/ambient albums of all time. Also the KLF made ‘Space’ which is another ambient lp based around….the theme of space.
I’ve got both of them on OG vinyl. And if you like those then the Orb’s first release ‘a huge ever growing brain that rules from the centre of the ultraverse’ is in a very similar vein considering they all knew each other and worked together on different projects. There’s also the FFWD album which is Fripp, the Orb and Thomas Fehlman, that album is also along the lines of the above. Lastly the KLF ‘last train to trancentral’ remix twelve had a longer segment from ‘chill out’ that wasn’t on the original record, and same goes for ‘3am eternal’ which had a remix twelve with another ‘chill out’ outtake remix. Welcome to the rabbit hole :)………..

Used to have both on vinyl too back in the day, along with stuff from the eighties like Whitney Joins the Jamms etc which I sold when I needed the readies :-) Also was an 'early-adoptor' of the Orb, seeing them on their first UK tour when their backdrop was a sheet with Orb written on it. Lots of stuff on EG Editions which predated the 90s ambient dance is worth listening to. Eno, Penguin Cafe Orchestra etc. and nowadays there is almost too much choice!

EG was Eno’s label Alex Patterson was a talent scout for them before the Orb and a roadie for killing joke prior to that.
Plenty of great ambient and classical/minimal stuff on EG for sure. ‘The Pearl’ by Harold Budd and Eno being one of my faves.
First time I saw the Orb was in the chill out room at Paul Oakenfold’s The Trip or Labyrinth club/s one of those, I think it was at Heaven, London back in-the day and they were playing sheep noises over Doobie Brothers, Debussy and Steve Hillage 😄shame the clubs these days are so homogeneous that you’d not get anything like that now, House and Techno alongside Balearic stuff with a chill out room. Totally open minded dance floors.

Beautiful selection! ⭐
Its obscurity can be partially explained by their decision to delete their entire back catalogue when they split up. Probably wise, due to the amount of uncleared samples / interpolations going on with some of those tunes.
Still sounds magical to these ears, and so much better than the official "cleared" versions on Spotify etc.
Thank you for sharing.

Definitely, these are the records I’d highly recommend that everyone should listen to if inclined to KLF/Orb axis, in no particular order-
Orbus Terrarum - The Orb - LP
FFWD - LP
Chill Out - KLF - LP
Space - KLF - LP
A Huge Evergrowing Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Centre Of The Ultraworld - The Orb - original Mix 12”
Little Fluffy Clouds - The Orb - original 12” mix
3AM Eternal - KLF - Remix 12” with extended ambient ‘Blue Danube’ mix
Kyle Said To Jason - KLF - 12” b side ‘Pure Trance’
Last Train To Trancentral (remix) - KLF - 12”
The Blue Room - The Orb - 45 minute mix - Ltd CD edition
Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld - The Orb - Ltd edition - 12” and LP
All of those loosely feed into each other sonically and have patchwork bits of audio and samples running through them from the start of both acts careers and are ambient/chill out/whatever you want to call it.
These are to me, the pinnacles of what those two acts achieved in that ambient genre and were as close as possible to what they played out when performing chill out rooms at various Acid House/ Balearic clubs at the very start.
Enjoy! 😀

I remember when KLF burned a million quid as some sort art piece.
Seemed like a good idea at the time I guess.... 💡👍 Cocaine is one hell of a drug!
No regerts 😉
(Good group though).
Cheers BB 🤣

As I understand it they really regretted it later :-) There is a movie about it and, I think, a book.

😀 I met Jimmy Cauty but not Bill Drummond decades ago when they were just going big it was around the time of the ‘chill out’ album.
Neither were into drugs at all surprisingly!
Jimmy now runs the K2 foundation and still makes loads of art which he flogs online.
Both of em are as antiestablishment as you like and used to just do things on ‘gut instinct’ and then think about it afterwards 😮
To be fair they generated a huge amount of press and made some number one hit records along the way, kerching.
There’s a book by Mick Houghton that details all of that era and I’d a great read, I can’t recall the title off the top of my head though….

This is one I still listen to quite frequently. Discovered mid nineties along with the orb and FSOL. I still don't know the individual tracks, it is to be enjoyed in full in one sitting, just tooting away I reckon. :)

Agreed, you have to listen to it all. Same with Space which is also a very enjoyable trip.

I just knew you would mention this !! There is also an Alex Paterson version out there with the Jimmy Cauty parts removed which makes it more ambient by the simple fact of having silent parts! There was also a huge limited remix of the KLF catalogue including Space (hour plus if I remember) a few years ago. This Is Not The KLF - I believe it was called. Martin somebody?

Remember seeing them a couple of times, also at Glastonbury (and maybe Reading 92?). The song I liked most by them was a cover of Public Enemy's '(She Watch) Channel Zero' if memory serves. Think I got a free 7" copy as it was given out at one of the gigs.

Could it have been Reading '94? There was a metal/rap crossover thing going on back then. I used to like messing with people on the street by cranking it up in the car stereo. "What was that? Sounds like that rapping tripe but also that head banging nonsense? I say..."
Probably looked like a right dick but hey, youth and all that...

Yeah, I actually found a gig flyer from 94 buried in my ‘man’ drawer and the last day lists Soundgarden and Special Guests. After the festival I crossed out Soundgarden (didn’t turn up) and put Therapy? in place. I also ticked the bands I could ‘remember’ seeing (Lemonheads has ‘bit’ next to it, actually over exaggerated as can’t recall who, what or how they sound!)
What I find funny is the lack of ticks. Mainly due to Whisky for breakfast each day and copious amounts of weed!
Good festival last week.
What festival?… oh is that when I was shitting in a Pringles tube instead of those godawful sewerage tardis sweat boxes?
Yep, that was it!
Ahhh, those were the days… 🤪

Sorry, never saw this! I must be wrong as I only went to Reading in 92, mainly to see Public Enemy and Nirvana. Never really considered it a "festival", more of a 3 day gig. Must have been Glasto then as I went every year it was on from '85 to '96 when I decided it was no longer a fabulous freak show that they were trying to shut down every year and instead had become an "event" on the social calendar for the middle classes desperately pretending to be bohemians for a weekend and bookable only by credit card. Used to be that the police weren't even allowed on site and they buzzed us with helicopters! Changed days indeed.
Next week on "old man shouts at clouds" listen whilst old punks decry the death of "real music" and call for the death penalty for producers and artists who use auto-tune in every single feckin' one of their 'music as painting-by-number' songs...

wow now i really want a time machine. its funny their stuff sounds like it could be 2000s mash up or even today's post-rap punk revival

Ha! There was lots of stuff like this around in the early/mid nineties and beyond. Tons of great tunes in all sorts of genres fusing, boppin' and giving your noggin' a floggin'. Here's a couple more for you but there are so so many to choose from. Nothin' new under the sun children ;-)

Hi Leviathan
Actually I forgot to mention the elephants in the room (can they both fit? ;-) ) RATM and Red Hot Chilli Peppers!
There even is a wikipedia entry about Rap-Rock:

But then again there is a wikipedia entry about EVERYTHING in the Universe.

Hi Ghetto Bikes
That album really was a product of its times which is why it's such a 90s throwback.
Rap-rock was definitely enough of a thing to get named as such in Guitar Player magazine back then.
The Judgement Night oundtrack was mentionned on LB lately but one of my fave was the Dutch band Urban Dance Squad. Also Rollins Band Weight is a classic as well as ICe T's Bodycount plus a few obscure one like this one:

Live performance for next 639 years
The longest music piece in the world is being performed in the city of Halberstadt in Germany: John Cage's composition for organ ORGAN2/ASLSP - As SLow aS Possible - is resounding here in an extreme interpretation of 639 years, that means until the year 2640

And the classic four note motif from Shine On You Crazy Diamond by David Gilmour comes in about 124 years time.

Is this the greatest cover of all time?

🎶Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower
Its the 21st of January, 57 years ago today Jimi Hendrix walked into a studio in London and recorded in my opinion the best cover of all time, a Dylan track he heard only a couple of weeks earlier.
I wondered what you Biggas think the greatest ever cover is?
Feel free to add your own choices💜💚🏹

But you reminded me of Post Modern Jukebox.

most embarrassing song in your collection?
Absolute tune! Deffo a guilty pleasure…
Mine 100% Glenn Medeiros, Nothings gonna change my love for you, if you haven’t already watch the video lol.

That cliff top and billowing clothes! Fuck, I'd forgotten about this too! Add that and Peter Cetera's solo career to my list, and Chicago.

First record I ever bought as 9 year old was T. rex ride a white swan, second was Rolf Harris !
If you want really embarrassing, first ever gig I was 15 and got asked by bunch of friends to go to a cliff richard concert, not a cliff fan but went as fancied a girl. Two songs in realised it was a religious tour, no devil woman tonite.
Still cringe at memory of everyone holding hands and singing allehluya.

I have electric 6s gay bar on vinyl, doesn't represent who I am or even my favourite genre of music, I just think it's a tune. It does raise questions when someone notices it for the 1st time, especially if they've not heard it, because I then feel the need to make them hear it and agree it's a tune

Unbelievably good live. Saw them play a Barfly not long after they'd released that single. Amazing band. Have the album on vinyl.

Jolene - Dolly Parton. Love it.
On other end of my collection is Ready or Not, DJ Hype Remix.
I'd say my record collection is a bit "eclectic"! Haha.;)
Cheers BB

Jolene is never embarassing, well at 104db past a funeral precession maybe other than that Jolene is part of every good collection.

I'm told by others that it's this. If it comes on the radio though you are having Tiffany sung at you full blast, possibly slightly out of tune, and I don't care.

Not in my collection per say but definitely listened to it more than I’d like to admit back in the day 😂 who remembers princess superstar bad babysitter😂😂😂

Saw her live about 20ish years ago. Was great. Have a limited edition Frank Kozik poster (photo added) advertising one of her New York shows. Love Kozik's work from around that time. Had an awesome one advertising a show by The Oblivians (if you don't know them, look them up) too, but that's not near mint like the PSS one as it spent a lot of time on walls in various houses.
Fuck, he died in May. 61. No age at all.

Its only on my playlist because I listened to it as a joke, now its on loads :D

Do you know they're actually still doing live performances in Ibiza and shit? Well they were before covid anyway

When I was 6 the first ever song I bought was Jimmy Somerville, mighty real. In my defence I just liked the cassette art. No excuses however when I purchased the Hamster Song. I was old enough to know better.

I will survive - Gloria Gaynor
Heard the line “Go, walk out the door, don’t turn around now, you’re not welcome anymore” more than a few times in my house, even the kids sing it to me !!!

But to dig me out, recently listen to a mash up mix of Kylie and Danni ...😂

Puff the Magic Dragon & Leaving on a Jet Plane by Peter, Paul and Mary ( first songs I remember singing with me ma ) The Gambler by Kenny Rogers. Oh, and I have a Chris de Burgh album as well 🙈

Where do I start?!
Ivor Cutler... "Goozeberries and Bilberries" (sic) from the Dandruff LP.
Surreal, whimsical, utterly batty but brilliant - which describes his entire output. Hats off to John Peel... time and again.

Letting it be knowed from the get go, yo.. tripping, obvs, but coming hard with the TMI, will deal with the cringe pon the morrow, haha, but omfg, right, if it was possible for it to be a thing, that through nothing other at all other than listening, right, that a tune could actually 'get you off', right, then it would be this, right now...hoooooly mother of fuuuuuuuuuudge....
closely followed by these two little bitches, haha
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEgX64n3T7g
if a tune could do it for you, what would it be? Any need for an, 'and why?' is grounds for immediate disqualification, haha

This track pokes a finger up my bum, tickles my spot and whispers sweet, sweet sedition in my ear.
Is that what you mean?
The intro is ethereal foreplay (however brief), then "BLAM" straight into a rockhard bassline: just roll with the rhythm and fuck like donkey.

ZEF. Just fuckin’ watch it.
Yeah. They got pointlessly cancelled for some utter bullshit. Too many morons on Twitter who believe literally anything and everything they are spoonfed, by other morons on Twitter.
Must be true 🤣
TLDR. They adopted this kid, looked after him. Took him in. He turned around and basically blackmailed them on YouTube. Trying to get drug money out of them… also. Ninja was spuriously accused of sexual harrassment. He also shouted some homophobia at some band at a festival in the heat of the moment. By actual accounts the singer in that band was behaving like a complete jerk… nobody ever mentions the context though, do they?
Their producer, DJ Hi-Tek (God) is none more gay. 😁
If you know Die Antwoord. Really know them, and what they stand for, you’ll know this is spurious. At best.
The South African gutter press have always had it in for them.
This is a great doc. Sorry. Biggy won’t let me post web links. So here’s the trailer.

Properly original vision these artists have. Ballan/Lynch/Diane Arbus - I could give a shit about the allegations. They are just that.
You can’t make great art without breaking a few sensibilities, frankly, and I’m glad they are back in the game.
Watch the doc and make up your own mind about them. One of the most original punk rock acts in the last 15 years. That’s pretty hard to deny. Even if you are an Xtard, social media sheep, who just gets worked up over any old bullshit they read.
They comport themselves with real dignity and honesty in this documentary and I’m looking forward to their London show.
So happy they are back.
True originals and if they are good enough for Flea. They are good enough for me.
Consummate artists.

Mate! We used to listen to their ‘like a Ninja’ song as teens and get freaked out by their crazy music videos. Then when I turned 18 guess who I saw in a club on my first ever trip to Amsterdam?! Yolandi
and Ninja in the flesh!!! No one else knew who they were but I ran over like an uber fan. I’m sure I made their night 😂

Saw them live in Birmingham a few years back, amazing night!

Recently watched this after being recommended it by a mate. I knew of them, but not a lot. Great documentary. Lots of 😯 moments for me not knowing that much about them and their personal lives. Lovely people, even if a bit crazy at times. Compared to me anyway ha

love em but wish they had a better producer every now and then. vocals and lyrics are awesome but beats get annoying on the 10th go

From a mix standpoint the beats are amazing as they acheive loudness without sacrificing on dynamics.

It has to be MF DOOM. He died recently but the way this dude puts words together and fucks with the ryhme scheme is other-worldy. RIP DOOM

Two albums define the 90s for me. Exile on coldharbour lane - Alabama 3. You owe it to yourself to listen to this
Also Dummy by portishead, but only if I'm feeling low.

Loved them- have 'rediscovered' mezanine by Massive Attack in the last few days.Brings me back to being a stoned student in my first bedsit. Great times.

Portishead - Dummy
Lamb - Lamb
Faithless - Sunday 8PM
Limp Bizkit - Chocolate Starfish
System of a Down - System of a Down
Leftfield - Leftism

Black metal .... More black metal ...... i like most genres but i love BLACK METAL! Dimmu Borgir, Watain , Dissection ect....

Oooooo the 90's 😍😍😍
My personal favourite musical decade. The decade where I really found myself musically.
God thinking back I had/have some eclectic tastes.... used to listen to allsorts from studenty indie bands such as Carter Usm through hip hop (nwa, dre, wu tang etc) laid back shiz like massive attack, Portishead through to happy hardcore, gabba techno & jungle
Saw out the late 90's bouncing from club to club with a house, hard house, trance & techno soundtrack to my life (which only ended in the past decade or so 😀)

Mate, this reads like I wrote it! I’m was (and still am!) a huge Carter fan! Proper tuned me in to the world, their lyrics still stand strong now. Got me socially aware and into hip hop, then I got into the tail end of the rave/club scene. Onto trip hop,and the 00’s indie scene a bit. Listen to mostly 90s hip hop and industrial stuff now!

Prince.
I was so obsessed when i was younger i even had the leather jacket with the symbol on the back.
Still love the music but luckily the dress sense has improved a bit!
Anyone who thinks Bruno Mars is ground breaking (and i think his music is great by the way) needs to stick a few Prince albums from the late 80's and 90's on. Gives a very clear idea where he gets his "thing" from.
Cheers BB

Gotta have house music!
As the 90's started I'll admit to being into American Rock artists like Motley Crue, Poison, Ratt and Kiss. Also liked a bitta Journey, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon. Still have a lot of my tapes and records from back in the day. I've converted one room into a Music room. Got a tape deck, turntable, CD and MP3 player all wired into a decent set of speakers. But back to the 90's.
Must have been summer 92 that I went to my first rave. I live in NI so we those that are fimilar with things will remember Kellys in Portrush. Spent many saturday nights dancing to some amazing house music. Some epic tunes by artists who'se names I never did get, to loved up to care! As long as there was a big beat, piano break, hands in the air we didn't care. #goodtimes

I grew up in the '90s and it was the age when I really discovered music. I still listen to a ton of '90s music. I think for me hip hop peaked in the '90s - Enter the Wu Tang, The Chronic, Illmatic, Ready to Die...I could go on.
I saw Leftism get a mention earlier in the thread, what an amazing album, still holds up today. I saw them live a few times and they were always great, a real shame they didn't put out more music. I know Leftfield technically still exists but it's not the same.

A great decade for punk / hardcore. Fugazi. Gorilla Biscuits. Rollins, before he disappeared up his own arse. Sweaty gigs in tiny venues. I miss those days.

Dean Koontz! he wrote a novel that very much matches whats going on in the world today, with the current affairs involved in virology etc
cant think the name from the top of my head, i will be back here with the name :D

Early Nineties I started working, then living in London and I loved pirate radio. UKG and Jungle, served up with a proper attitude, while having a right laugh.
Cruising round Essex & Easts in a Renault 5 turbo with 3 mates squeezed in the back, chatting shit about who makes the best/worst spliff.
Before I moved abroad I recorded hours of it, but lost the tapes (lol) along the way.
Hey-ho... (more like "oi-oi", yeah?)

Born in the 70s . I suppose the 80s rock played a big part.

Gotta be house/ trance. My favourite tune which gives me goosebumps is Silence by Delerium, I love the strong female vocals

In the early to mid 90's I loved nothing more than a night of bouncing, banging techno, followed by Marley/Floyd type of thing as I eased down the next day.
*DTB shivers while recalling those next days*
Changed lots over the years and is now trip hop with a jazz angle, classical & opera, Cash, Floyd, Zeppelin, Fleetwood, Dylan, and a bit of Postmodern Jukebox if I feel like dreaming about sharing my life with Haley Reinhart.

I also was late I think. He’s extremely talented. I think a lot of his own written work hits home with many people. He’s done quite a bit with the ‘Big push’ buskers. Their rendition of I shot the sheriff is possibly better than the original. Enjoy going down the rabbit hole that is Ren.

Favourite 2 all time full album’s you listened to over and over again

Favourite 2 all time full album’s you listened to over and over again
I’ll start Dr Dre 2001 and Bob Marley and the wailers.

Wu Tang Clan - Enter the Wu Tang (managed to see them in NYC for Rock The Bells 2010 performing the whole album was a dream comes true) and the second best album for me would be Gang Starr - Moment of Truth

finally someone said Blue Lines. It's odd because in a lot of ways musically I don't rate it highly, it's kind of clumsy in parts, some of the ideas are underdeveloped, some of it almost makes me cringe. But there was just something so special about that time and the sound felt so new and yet familiar. Even though their later stuff is "better" Blue Lines has such a permananet special place in my heart.

Prodigy - Music For Jilted Generation
Leftfield - Leftism
Could list plenty but these 2 are special 😎🥳🤯👽

Leftism is immense. It's been a while, I'm gonna have to fish it out the old collection.

Time well spent. As for The Prodigy, I saw them at Glasto in '95. They were flying high off the back of Music for the Jilted Generation. I vividly remember Keith (RIP) rolling onto the stage in a giant hamster ball. They were awesome. So much energy.

dark side by pink floyd and blonde by frank ocean. i absolutely rinse both year after year :)

Full albums I've actually listened to over and over are "The Wall" & "Graceland"
Really love listening to Graceland on a fresh sativa high)
Really love listening to Graceland on a fresh sativa high)

Graceland brings back memories of my mum blasting that album most days when I was a kid

That's how I first heard it too when my mums friend got them the album back in the early 80s)

Tom Waits "Blue Valentine", Ry Cooder "Bop Till You Drop" - honourable mention to Joni Mitchell "Blue", Janis Joplin "Pearl", David Crosby "If I Could Only Remember My Name", and a gazillion others...

I know I’m cheating but I got
Outkast- Aquemini (and stankonia)
Fugees - The Score
Jay Z - The Blueprint
Kanye - MBDTF
Nas- Illmatic

If you don’t know…wake up! 💯❤️

I’m a grump about Ill Communication. It has some great tracks on it. But the jazz filler does nothing for me.

What's going on- Marvin Gaye..almost goes as a mix album the way the songs blend into one another. So relevant to today too.
Another I've played to death over the years is Joni Mitchell- Blue. Just a sublimely chilled album.
Many more, but these two I think I have probably played the most in my lifetime so far

Since my favourite 2 have already been picked by loads of people, I'll go for...
Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
Portishead - Dummy
Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
Portishead - Dummy

I can safely say that Appetite for Destruction is the album I've listened to the most. Carousel by Subcircus has had well over 20 years love from me as well

Dark Side of the Moon has got to be my first pick. Millionaires by James is great when you've got some sativa running through your system.

The b-side of the sit down single is Live at the Manchester Gmex. On headphones is still the best crowd singing of a song to date.

Never heard Dub Side of the Moon until today- bloody great👍- so big thanks for the heads up!!!

Wow!!!! Just WOW!
Dubside of the moon 🌙
Amazing..... how this has escaped me is beyond me 🤷♂️ I love darkside that much I have the prism tattood on my chest

2 is incredibly difficult, and I can't be the only one with eclectic tastes and a butterfly mind where these will all change regularly anyway. So I'll go with:
Ash - 1977
and
Kent - Hagnesta Hill (available in English and Swedish, so surely I get to choose both?)

I once worked on a tour of Denmark and Kent played , your comment is the only other time I’ve heard of them lol

That's so cool! Is this weird? The most unbelievably amazing band that almost no-one has ever heard of, or so it seems. They filled stadia in Scandinavia.

"The Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd: Released in 1973, this album is considered a masterpiece and one of the greatest progressive rock albums of all time. It features a conceptually unified theme and explores various philosophical and existential topics. Tracks like "Money," "Time," and "Us and Them" are widely loved.
"Thriller" by Michael Jackson: Released in 1982, "Thriller" is the best-selling album of all time and a cultural phenomenon. It revolutionized pop music, blending various genres and delivering iconic hits such as "Billie Jean," "Beat It," and the title track "Thriller."

Muse - Absolution( regardless if you like the band the story of the end of the world from start to end is amazing!)
Nirvana - Unplugged in New York
Nirvana - Unplugged in New York

Dark Side of the Moon, best album ever, bar none. 50 years old this year, same as me!
950 weeks on Billboard 200 chart! 750 of them consecutive!!
Lee 'Scratch" Perry - Open the Gate. Sadly deleted and expensive to buy, but can be downloaded online. 2 CDs of heavyweight 12". Jimmy Cliff got me listening to reggae, this album burnt it into my soul.

This is tough but going on repeats alone I reckon these pip it,
Riding with the king - Clapton and BB King
We're new here - Jamie xx and Gil Scott-Heron

We're new here - Jamie xx and Gil Scott-Heron

So glad someone has shouted out Jamie xx, amazingly talented music producer the first album with him and his sister The Xx I can’t even guess how many times I’ve listened to it, song 1 known as intro is a work of art. I’m gutted they or he have released so little but sadly he probably earns more producing for other artists who are more mainstream?
Not heard of your other suggestions but will check them out based on your clearly good taste !

There are loads of full albums I’ll listen to…naming just two, well the two most recent ones that spring to mind for me Acid Bath-when the kite string pops and Oasis - definitely maybe not a bad track on either one.

My picks:
The Velvet Underground & Nico - just a classic album. Spaceman 3 "The Perfect Prescription" with an honorable mention for Ode to Street Hassle

Its an absolute epic album. That bit in Fountain and Fairfax where Happy Chichester's piano wraps around Barb's cello is heaven. Its as good an album as Black Love for sure, some fans prefer it but BL is the GOAT.

Script of the Bridge by The Chameleons. Some friends told me they would bury the album with me, I'd go to sleep listening to it.
Scary Monsters by Bowie, time of life thing for me 'Teenage Wildlife'.

Mrdeeds36, yes it is, blinding track, good to hear from another fan. 'Up the down escalator' is my anthem for a crazy world today.

"They sit at their tables and throw us the scraps
For Christ's sake leave us something!
Now they can erase you at the flick of a switch
How long now will it take now?
There must be something wrong boys"
I adore this period of post punk before brit pop came along and fudged it. IMO lol
Swamp Thing from Strange Times is another brilliant song.

Hi Mate, Got 'Script of the bridge' playing again this weekend. The album seems more poignant than ever.
Light up and have a good weekend.

Hey bud, I'm well thanks and intend to have a good weekend, it's my bday on Monday so have started early with some very nice and mood lifting Cap Junky, then for some stand up comedy me thinks.
Script of the Bridge will always be applicable to me. Finding some albums feels like finding treasure and it's one of those albums, as is From the lions mouth by The Sound, which if you haven't heard I profoundly recommend. Have a good'n mate and tell me, what are you smoking on matey and have you chonged anything recently with strong euphoric/giggly affects?

Happy Birthday mate.
I will be listening to that recommendation later today.
Smoking 'red apple' Leb, 'apple tart' Maroc hashish and just got some 'Sunset Sherbet' and 'Billy Kimber' bud, all amazing.
Happy birthday. Crispy

Hi Mr, Really liked that album, how did I miss that? Do you like 'sad lovers and giants' and 'and also the trees' ?

Never heard of either band before this shout. I listened to Epic Garden Music this morning on a hike and it's fantastic love the use of the keyboard and you can really hear early elements of shoegaze taking shape on tracks like "Lope" and "ART".. This is a very good band crisp.. Try listening to Soul Mining and Dusk by The The and tell me what you think. Anyway stay cool compadre.

dEUS The Ideal Crash and Pretty Hate Machine NIN. Never tire of those two... There are many more but these two popped out my cheesebox first.

Hard to pick just 2, and I see a nearly all male list below...so:
Baduizm - Erykah Badu
Hounds of Love - Kate Bush
Midtown 120 Blues - DJ Sprinkles (couldn't leave this utter classic out!)

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless. Still sounds like nothing else.
…And You Will Know us By The Trail of Dead - Source Tags and Codes - possibly not the best album ever. But I just love it.

Dre 2001 and Fleetwood Mac Rumours.
Fleetwood Mac especially. Playing that album on a good car stereo on a nice road in the summer. Great times....👌🎶
Cheers BB 😊👍🍻

Cheap Thrills - Janis Joplin with Big Brother and the Holding Company. Aqualung - Jethro Tull. Both are extraordinary (to me, anyway) with a good dose of THC.

Just 2 …thats tricky!!
Some have already mentioned primal scream screamadilca. I played underworld dubnobasswithmyheadman a lot as well, but I think I will actually plump for depeche mode violator and u2 Joshua tree, 2 albums that got played a lot and got me through life…

Bit random but....
E99 eternal - bone thugs
Favourite worst nightmare - arctic monkeys
Not sure they my face of all time but certainly remember listening on repeat to both of these

Reading the comments, we’re such a bunch of mixed people here haha (GOOD) I think I saw every genre. I don’t really have 1 album I like but it’s one song from a few if you get me.

For me it's got to be lupe fiasco lasers album deluxe edition. And Hopsin No shame album. Can listen to every song on both and never get bored

Only this guy could somehow fit that into a bar and make it flow effortlessly!
If you haven't heard of The Last Emperor before, you're welcome :) he taught me how to love hip hop 20 years ago when I was a devout metalhead
the album is called "The legend of bigfoot" and it's fantastic from start to finish

What are you listening to while placing your little biggy order?
Fishbone. Great to see live. Norwood influenced Flea from the Chilli Peppers on the Bass. Ecelectic mix of Ska,Funk and metal

Listening to the words in my head I can't wait to open this next goody bag. The next lucky dip coming my way !

Anything by Elton John fucking hate the cunt and his music, my wife ruined my Xmas day few years back by telling me a gay singer i didnt like had died.
I was so exited then she told me it was George Michael and i was gutted.
I was so exited then she told me it was George Michael and i was gutted.

and i feel better about myself, you know plotting his murder and all. george michael on the other hand was a genius and worth a quickie in the facility of his choosing

Hahahaha, I actually like Elton, well as much as a straight man can but that made me laugh man.

Tiny Dancer and Rocket Man are OK songs. Other than that Elton John is soooooo overrated.

Fairground simply red, gives me violent thoughts of grabbing mick by his flowing red curls and bouncing his head of every hard surface available. Total pissflap

Yeah anything by Simply Red can give me Forrest Whittaker eye but Fairground is especially bad

And imagine being called Eileen when it came on down the pub back in the day…. Poor cow needed 3 packs of baby wipes.

Too many but Will Smith - Wild Wild West has got to be up there surely. It’s like some record execs put a gun to his head and said ‘Dance bitch!’

Do you think they did it again to willow ? I whip my hair even for a 13 year old was fucking awful

that movie had so much going for it and they still blew it, would make a better series than a lot of shit

Nothing Compares to You by Sinead Depressing Cunt O'Connor that song has the warmth and charm of a dead Rat lying next to a used Tampon.

That Barbie girl tune, need I say why! Lol
And the “grandma I love you” tune, showing my age! Lol
And the “grandma I love you” tune, showing my age! Lol

Ok you win… The grandma I love you song was fucking horrendous, then they felt the need to create the sequel… Grandpa I love you… I mean we got the message the first time.

Lol. She is a liar too, when that Leo chap drowned in the ice, his heart certainly didn’t go on….

Watch this with your sound on, and I think you will agree no further explanation is required.

Bruno Mars.
"When I see your face
There's not a thing that I would change
'Cause you're amazing
Just the way you are"
My question is - how many faces did he previously change to suit his needs. He's amazed he found someone who's face doesn't need rearranging. This man is a psycho folks.

Keane - Bedshaped.
Stupid, depressing lyrics that make no sense at all.
Bedshaped? That'll be a bed then...
I hate it because it reminds me of the two weeks I spent crawling around a 20 inch deep subfloor void for 8 hours a day, doing timber treatments on a huge old house.
That shit was on the radio every 20 mins for the whole time we were there.
Scarred me 🙉

Steppin' Out by Joe Jackson. Ain't rock, ain't disco, can't dance to it without looking like Steve Martin doing a retarded dance.

If you really want a contender for worst song, you need to listen to Taylor Swift Gorgeous. The song composition and the lyrics seem like they were written by a child.

Also majority of her songs. She did a cover of September by earth wind and fire that haunts me... She turned funk into folk what the actual fuck.

hahaha.. funny to see Zeppelin here because it did occur to me too . Seems like everybody has to adore their music :P

I forgot all about this,Hey plenty of Zepp stuff is fine but that song really gets my goat the first time i heard it i never knew who it was my missus had been putting cd's in the laptop and they kept getting synched to my ipod it came on random one day and i just went wtf is this shit before looking who it was, it sounds to me like a holiday camp band doing reggae.

All musicians steal mate and say they were inspired. A lot of that era were the same. Keith Richards does it. Don’t think that takes away from them as musicians.

Cool, mine too. Sometimes I feel like the great Alan in your photo speaking to younger people. AHA. I was sick with laughter when he got hit with a cow. Steve coogans characters are genius. All the way back to the calf family

as a punk i was always compelled to hate led zep, it was a mistake, i still hate most classic rock still (with merit now) but these guys were really in a class by themselves.

I’m too nice to downvote as maybe that’s how you feel but seriously? The band who gave us in my time of dying can never be fuckin awful.

The Last Rock Band?
I've said before that Foo Fighters are one of the last true mainstream, longstanding, "Rock Bands" that maintain the rock spirit
Short lived bands are still making good rock music (GVF a good shout), but the days of Rock Gods are gone....
Short lived bands are still making good rock music (GVF a good shout), but the days of Rock Gods are gone....

I always enjoy telling them that i saw Dave Grohl drumming for Scream before he joined Nirvana.

Rock music is still alive and well, its just not as popular as it used to be. It isnt dangerous and exciting to young people any more, rap/hiphop has taken its place in that regard...
It sucks Greta Van Fleet are the only example being brought up here though, to me they are highly derivative and not really doing anything new.... Check out Clutch, Steven Wilson, Opeth, Graveyard, Lake Street Dive, Menzingers, The Hold Steady, Elephant Tree, Creeper - all great artists making interesting music. And hey there are still SOME big bands, like Biffy Clyro, Foals and Queens of the Stoneage doing pretty cool stuff!

My neighbors love Clutch and now all their windows are broken I can hear the lyrics better.

Steve Wilson is a fantastically talented musician, however he's also a mahoosive elitest plonker who for a very long time wouldn't release music on streaming services due to it being "digital" and lower quality and therefore not the experience he wanted for his listener base. He has since changed his stance on this but it along with some really awful interviews he did make me unable to listen to his music (knowingly)
Anyhow I felt like sharing that for no real reason

Haha same goes for Tool... I'm a fan but yeah he definitely has an air of pretentiousness! Seems to go hand in hand with prog rock xD

Rival Sons are worth a listen if you’re looking for old school retro/Zep type sounds with their own twist. The singer Jay has an immense voice

They are after the last, like a symphony orchestra playing the same shit centuries later. But they do fucking rock.

Currently keeping the flame burning for me are Fat White Family, Gnod, Hey Colossus, Gilla Band amongst others.

The bands that had someone die in them, there proper bands, basically they don’t give a fuck about themselves all they want to do is create great music, jimi Hendrix, the doors,Janis Joplin,AC/DC with Bon Scott, nirvana,Amy winehouse but to name a few, people will always disagree though.
The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom.
The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom.

You are one "L" away from the same name as a southern rock band! Rock seemed to eat its babies over the last decade or two. Too many old rockers raging at the dying of the light while clutching a new remaster of Physical Graffiti and demanding to know why there is no good new music anymore (there was, you didnt support it).

For me no matter how many bands I listen too I always end up back with the classics , floyd , the who, zeppelin, sabbath the doors etc it’s like a warm bath after work just slip straight in! Lol

Kings of Leon
Foo Fighters
Libertines
Oasis
Guitar music will make a comeback. The ‘urban’ wallpaper crap will die at some point. Think Glastonbury this year proved that rock still draws the crowds but it isn’t woke (which is why i love it).

Last album that got you excited!
Strange one for me, I love my music and from teens to 30s savoured everything then I hit a dull patch and nothing! In 2018 someone sent me a link to marabou states album kingdoms in colour and I loved it , musically brilliant and well produced . My tastes vary from old school rock to chilled stuff Kruder and Dorfmeister , DnB , Jazz . I found this album so exciting and good!! Sadly since 2018 haven’t found anything that excited me

"Overmono" have been killing it for me over the last year or so. They are worth checking out.....

Its because Simon Cowell the living incarnation of the anti-christ ruined the music industry. I got into NWOBHM. New wave of British heavy metal. I saw Saxon supporting Rainbow and the crowd were still calling for Saxon after Rainbow set. Blackmore fired them as the support band. Thats the only time I have seen the support band blow the headline band away.
This was circa 1980 which was a year for metal. You also had the sunset strip bands. There seemed to be a new band every month. Then there was the rave scene I got into because of the parties.
The last band that made me go I have to get an album was System of a Down Mesmerize the track BYOB Bring your own bomb. Its now a band every 10 years or so.
You think its you getting old but its not. I teach music and check out new stuff regularly and nothing moves me if I can hear who they are copying. There doesnt seem to be as many up and comming bands around.

Ratpack - Searchin' For My Rizla
I remember! I tried copying the lyrics to the MC at my local youth club disco !. I was king for a day ☀️😂🤩

Anyone have rave flyers stuck on the wall with blu tac. I had my whole room covered. Fantazia dreamscape and lots of sterns which always had a pun or a rip off of a brand on the front "never mind the bollox, here's interdance!"

Where are today’s protest singers?
Just listening to gill Scott herons first album ‘a new black poet’ , he still has the power to shock.who are today’s protest singers.
Is urban rap and hip hop, choose your genre, the new protest platform. Or is it just a mysoginist, homophobic, violent twisted reflection of city life from those excluded from the mainstream.
Is stormsy the new urban Dylan.?

There is still a pretty decent punk scene out there. (or was before the pandemic)Human Project, Random Hand, SB6, Crazy Arm- all inherently political. Solo artists- Babar Luck, Chris TT, Prolefeed, Carol Hodge.
personal fave on my rotation at the minute would be ‘the hunstman comes a marching’ chris tt. Check it out!

IDLES are pretty spot on politically and that shows in their lyrics! ‘The only way to scare a Tory is to read and get rich’.

Don't want to start a war between them but... Dave > Stormzy :P
edit - don't know whats going on with lb but this post went wacky, anyway jokes aside Dave actually deserves a little shout in this. The live performance of Black was really invoking and things like Question Time and Children of the Internet will appeal to any stoned thinker haha :) - at least the UK scene isn't just kids dying on cough medicine after one youtube hit, wtf happened to America?!

You've got a lot to choose from in metal.
Check out some of the following:
Body Count: Black Hoodie
Body Count: No Lives Matter
Lamb of God: Poison Dream
Lamb of God: Now you've got something to die for
Dead Label: Dystopian Complex
Lock Horns: Blood and Oil
Gojira: Silvera
And I know this is basically a pisstake, but Dethklok Detharmonic in on point.

I'd say for this definitely Run The Jewels. Akala is still about as well. Immortal technique is meant to be releasing a new album soon. I don't think we will see the likes of a band like RATM again for sometime

Left a RATM gig with cracked rib from the most hectic mosh pit I’ve ever known, mega fun. Second best mosh was the Pogues in 88.

I saw someone with there arm twisted the wrong way being carried out of a RATM set. Reading 96' I believe. Great set, terrifying moshpit.. Did it anyway though. Fun times.

I agree the power of the music to inform and protest is lost, but straight of the gate, you have macklemore Hinds Hall (this came out of nowhere!). Whatever your position on the conflict (or the tune) it sums up what the issue is. Bands are commodities and businesses know they can be used to influence, so they invest heavily. And if you don't tow the line then your out!

I forgot Public Enemy are still going strong.
I think they cornered the market in the American black protest field fighting fire with fire to show the other side of the American nightmare.
I think they cornered the market in the American black protest field fighting fire with fire to show the other side of the American nightmare.

Protest the Hero + Show Me the Body are two bands that spring to mind. These are certainly not protest artists sonically, as they are both heavier guitar bands, but are both aggressively anti-establishment, discussing topics you won’t hear other artists sing about.

Unfortunately he grew up and joined new labour.
Saw him live at least dozen times, used to do loads of small gigs and protests. I was in socialist workers party and he was doing loads of fundraisers for the miners.

Just as much intolerance on the left as on the right. We live in a shallow social media driven world. In which we all eat consume far too much whilst slowly killing ourselves and the planet. Facebook, mcdonald's,nike etc. It's a shallow, plastic world and that's not a suitable environment for growing protest singers.

Sort of agree, unfortunately the mass media (particularly print media) are owned run by right wing, ie Sun, times, telegraph etc

The BBC, THe Guardian Newspaper, Channel 4, ITV to name a few left wing media outlets.
And for the BBC to be so biased is a disgrace just look at the stats over 14% LBGTQ within there workforce as opposed to 0.4% in most other organisations massively disproportionate.
Also the mainstream media seems to love to demonise the working classes.
The white indegoius male is despised by the main stream media especially the BBC.
All I do know is before all this WOKE nonsense started we had not been at this much level of war activity since the second World War and now look at all this mess.
Weak leftist policies have risked our safety and security to the point where I worry about my relatives safety in the UK and have also made us a target from forces that want to destroy us.
You need only look at who was the London mayor best mate at UNi for example ? None other than the leader of Albasha terror GROUP. and if that does not worry you to realise that if all this wokey business continues there won't be no western songs ti sing no more because they will be banned.
I remember the cold War, I remember living in the troubles and feeling and hearing the sounds of cemtex around me and going through the checkpoints. I talk from experience and no the real dangers that all this liberal far left nonsense brings as I have lived and breathed this shit before.

"The perceived partiality of the BBC comes from both sides of the political spectrum. Of the people in the YouGov survey who identified as supporting the Conservatives, 15% thought the BBC is generally a little more favourable towards the left and 23% thought they were much more favourable. Conversely, 26% of those who identified as supporting Labour thought the BBC is generally a little more favourable to the right and 20% thought they were much more favourable."

I blame the growing influence of the network - attentions turning inwards as the younger generation start living in the fantasy of the online world. I showed my teenage step daughter the matrix the other day thinking she'd love it - her response "why would anyone choose not to stay in the matrix"!

its a perfect substrate for protest. people have the means and motive.
that's why there is tons of it in rap, singing is as dead as springsteen.

I knew Mr.C. He used to own a club called The End. I got collared with some Mitsubishi's. I was outside and got talking to him and Grooverider. I was going on about World Party to Grooverider as he played a few of our parties. Mr.C was asking why I got thrown out and I was straight with him. I told him I was serving up husteling to get an Access Virus for my studio which made him laugh.

Best British DJ?
RIP Randall, spent many many hours listening to him in 1989 on Centre force, respect ✊🏼 ❤️

I remember Carl Cox doing 3 decks at Sterns nightclub in 92 ! Rat pack were there. Theres Druid, Mr C loads ! In that genre

You could run 10 decks... makes no difference its all for show. Watch DJ Craze and see what running just 2 decks is all about.

Yes he's defo up there aswell. Never had the pleasure of seeing him live. He doesn't seem to do many shows up near me. HC closed the ring one year at beatherder an it blew my mind. I think the copious amounts of drugs helped!

There’s lots of good DnB DJ’s, Calibre is the best producer in my humble opinion. Technically Andy C is in a league of his own, I’ve been following him for over 20 years, he smashes it every time. Recently, his XOYO residencies were next level 🔊🔊 HC is a don too, Racing Green is 👌🏻

As a producer/creator he is unbeatable and way ahead of his time. Not a DJ tho.
he was sooo next level. what a fkn legend

Such a hard one to answer as DJing crosses so many genres, I’m breaking mine down a bit
Best all rounder - Mr scruff , can start with jazz and end with DnB
DnB - for me LTJ bukem but Goldie a second place
House/Tech - Sasha
Techno - Carl cox
Electronica - aphex twin and also chemical brothers
My favourites are DJs who take you on a journey starting at one place and ending somewhere different!! Big mentions also for me are Alex patterson , steve hillage system 7, DJ yoda , Randall, Fabio , John digweed

Stoner Rock / Psychedelic / Progressive
Cool album, I really need to listen to more Gong/planet gong and Steve Hillage in general.

Yes man! Only a matter of time before a fellow Ozrics fan chimed in....been with them since tape days, their highs and lows, but Brandi's playing with them heralded a great return to form....esp. "Mooncalf"...and gorgeous to boot :)

Glad to see another here!
Early days eh? I was there at the Crypt in Deptford (still have my membership card) when they only had a couple of tapes :) My mate is a good friend of Ed, and still is, so I've been lucky enough to hang outa few times and share a spliff or several backstage.
Eds released a new album this year, which is well worth a listen - he's still got it!
If you also liked the ullulators, you should really check out what Gavin has been up to too - he has released some amazing stuff lately - check out bandcamp for his stuff.
Take care, fellow old person! :) hehe :)

Cant have psychedelic rock thread and have no Ozric Tentacles? I've righted that wrong! Hope some of you enjoy!

Lucky to see them few times. At a free (illegal) festy at Wycombe common, had several micro dots and thought I was watching floyd circa saucers era, wow, a very colourful memory.

Hi, new member hope you dont mine me Tagging on.
Big fan of these at the moment, very pink floyd

At the drive are my fave ultra loud band, saw Mars Volta twice in Portsmouth, wow brutal gig.

I would love to have seen Mars Volta.. Seen At The Drive in a couple of times. Once at Reading festival a long time ago (think I saw Sparta there aswell), and caught them at Cochella around 2012. Still, loud, mental and awesome.

No idea how far back I'm commenting here. Just wanted to express my solidarity re: ATDI. The summit of early Emo, beyond which lay only death (and Mars Volta).

Saw these guys around Christmas, had a crafty smoke beforehand of course. Fantastic. Heavy as fuck.

Oh man, gotta have that crafty smoke before live music, it’s the only way. Awesome band too.

This is probably my favourite track off the new Lowrider album.
Nice and fuzzy. Happy smoking!

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Nuclear fusion.
Check out the crazy microtonal fret spacing on the guitars!

Haven't spotted any Moon Duo on here yet. Lots of tracks to choose from. And properly intense live too

Oh nice one man, love it. Those down tuned guitars are like the audio version of a heavy Indica haha. Cool video as well, thanks.

I agree mate glad you stumbled across it as well! I love it when I get a comment on one of these songs and I get to listen to them again.. some of them I forget about, it's a nice surprise. :D

Nice, I’m back on the 0.0. So smooth, I just ordered some more.
What you on at the moment?
What you on at the moment?

Heard so many good things about the 0.0, hows the high? Got a little mixture of G13, Guava Dawg and Grape Ape, very sweet flavour to them.

It sounds like you’ve got a sweet shop!
The 0.0 has got a real nice quality to it, it doesn’t send me into space or anything it just gives me a real nice lift that leaves me happily lazy, very hard to leave it alone.

Haha I know, still in awe of all these strains man. Ah that sounds like a lovely little treat indeed.

Adding more Elder to the list,
Their new album is dry, but this 18 minute kraut rock inspired jam from last year's Silver & Gold Sessions is a screaming banger.
Get your smoke on and enjoy biggas!

And for those of you into more proggy sounding stuff From Reykjavik, Iceland. Lucy in blue a fine band to chill to (superb live).

So many good bands on this link, I loved some of the early Monster Magnet and of course Black Sabbath are great. If you haven't heard of Elder they are good. As they've progressed they've really got some mellow flows.

Also, listen to Chowder - Passion Rift album...can't find much on youtube but it's worth getting.

Black sabbath is in my opinion the greatest fucking band ever.
Found these guys recently, sound like the melvins mixed with jimmy hendrix

Love Sabbath and loving Slift too, saw them posted on reddit while back! Increidble ! Prob my fav find of the year so far.

I thought about Gong, Hawkwind and all the possible candidates.
But I think this track by Ash Ra Tempel featuring Timothy Leary is another level.

Bad Brains - "At the Movies" (Live - 1979)
Wtf even is Aitch? When I was younger there was the Kersal Massive on YouTube, he just reminds me of one of them with his wet sounding voice, dickhead clothes and shit rapping about getting his dick sucked. Bore off mate, you and Sam Wailing Fucker Smith

In short, yes! 60's, 70's and even through to the 90's we dominated and now...it's pretty much garbage, don't even listen to the radio anymore!

Culture is too atomised due to the internet, and the arts in general are increasingly more like a status game for the rich than in the 60s-90s: there are few financial incentives to be a good musician anymore and only the very biggest, well connected, and commercially safest acts can now make a living from music. Plus all the stuff in the vid cloudeater posted.

Shouldn’t need a financial incentive to be good. Not in any hobby. Your either good or your not. This is Gained by natural skills or just brute force hard work. Although that barely matters these days as per the headline of this topic rightly suggesting a low. It’s a yo yo. Electronic / new age is the current theme with low quality and high output. It will go back to guitar rock as soon as the uni students decide that is more cool

Agree if it's just a hobby. If you are going to be a professional musician full time, and are not independently wealthy already, you eventually need to make some kind of a living and pay the rent. And you probably won't get pro-level skills at an instrument/performing/production without being able to put a ton of time into it.

The only solid revenue for musicians these days is touring and merchandise. The income from single & album sales is much lower than it was thanks to mp3 & streaming platforms
Everything is so disposable these days 😪

Orange Evening

Having a orange themed evening tonight inspired by another Biggas regular Midweek Mimosa Madness 🦜
The orangeyness this evening has been provided by...
KiG with the Orangina and the terpy as hell rosin : https://littlebiggy.com/link/nXvldw
...and
420Buds with their Orange Sherbet hash and the Mimosa Cake shatter : https://littlebiggy.com/link/uVWKJy
Anyone else have themed smoke ups?

Cheers mate, its the lazy mans dabberer...
I know youre not a fan of combustion but the joint was so good😵💫
I know youre not a fan of combustion but the joint was so good😵💫

Bro im all over this! how is the rosin from KiG? I so wanna load a joint with mimosa flower, rosin and bubble hash all together

BeerBellyBongBoy, Firstly you win "best LB name" award😆
Secondly i'd say the rosin is amazing, so good but the main problem with that joint would be getting it involved, even out of the fridge its tricky to work with, I have mine squeezed flat between some parchment paper and in the freezer so I can chunk off little bits easier, still have to work quick though and still find myself wanting a hot drop tool for it, maybe rolling the rosin in some flower and then into worms would work for joints and bowls🤷🏻♂️
If you figure it out KiG is right, I'm pretty sure that's how you enter The Zest Dimension🍊🚀🌌

getting all that into a joint that actually smokes, might be a tad ambitious. ill see how brave/dumb im feeling on payday. the zest dimension tho? who doesnt wanna visit? 😂

im just imagining the taste now. which is hard, as im vaping a bit of the watermelon zkittles right now

To my good friend, fifi.
Hope all is good, may the good Lord look and protect after you and yours always.
I'll never forget boxing day night, 2023, your generosity floored me.
May the Blessings of the Kingdom rest forever in your presence.
Stay Blessed all biggas, vendors and borgs, and transaxe support too!😁❤️

The melody, the lyrics, sung perfectly.
I've always adored this tune.
I used to play guitar and sing for 10 years or so, it's a beautiful song to sing, come on now!😁❤️

I'll tell you something tho, the afterglow of a shroom dose is better than a dimitri afterglow.
More than an hour now i'm basking in this (been microdosing dimitri too so that's in the mix but not had any today, will probably hit that soon, up at 5 tho, with the birds.

I am SO sorry it has taken me SO long to respond to this total wonderfulness. Even coming on here gives me bad social anxiety if my head's not right. But, oh my goodness! The way I learned of this was SO excellent. I was tripping at the time, and on the phone to a bigga buddy, totally loved up with my LB buddies, and the conversation went..
Me - how's everyone on LB?
Him - firitffiitdturzu
Me - ohhh!! Tell - so and so I love them!! SOOOO much!!!
Him- OK
Me - do it now PLEASE
Him - OK
Me - asks him to do the same for a few more biggas
Him- mutters something about BB and DMT
Me- oooohhhh! Tell BB I love him!!!
Him- well he's sent some love your way too ( tells me about you posting this tune but doesn't remember what the actual tune was)
Me - oh my god! ( mega excited). You have to remember! Find it and take a screenshot and send it.
Him - it was an Elton John tune
Me - oh :/ .. ( not much of a fan)
Me - BUT - I ABSOLUTELY LOOOOVE , I guess that's why they call it the blues. F'in LOVE it.
A few hours later, back on the phone
Me- you haven't sent me the screen shot!
Him- OK I'll do it now, just finding it........ aaand I'm just about to blow your mind..when you see which song it is..
Me - it's not!!!?
Him - yup
Me -( loses it )
And I went off and played it like, sixty bajillion times, and it was F'IN AMAZING!, and had one of the best music tripping experiences ever. Thank you so much 🩷
And re the boxing day thing - doing that afforded me the very best feeling I had over the whole of that shitty Christmas. I felt like I should be thanking you! Made me so happy.
Keep keeping it real BB, you are just so unapologetically you. Always. Totally authentic, and I think you're the bollocks ( even though I am still quite scared of you, haha)

God loves you Fifi!
After 5 extractions through almost as many months i reached enlightenment sp[iritually.
After 5 i also remembered what i i done different in my 1st spirit molecule extraction that gave me an amazing yield like no other.
Looking forwards to my nxt one now.
It knocks you out but doesn't get you high,
opened eyed the spirit world and material co-exist, closed eyed you're in the spirit world, breathing as a human, experiencing life as a soul. in the soul kingdom, the afterlife, the underworld.
being shown living 4 dimensional magic objects of impossible geometry.
It's quite the trip.
I love hearing your posts, take care my good friend.

what current artists will become classic?

If the 2nd Wet Leg album is anywhere near as good as their debut, they'll be talked about and listened to for many years to come.
Such a refreshingly creative, fun and talented band. Awesome live too

Drugs are for Losers

Canna and psychedelics is all you need, and even then need is a strong word.
I've been off things around 10 days now, started feeling pretty good already, got a little smoke on the way and also the products to make more spirit molecule pixie dust for some uber vapes.
Honestly if i had to make a choice between weed and pixie dust i'd have to go for the dust.
Weed makes you feel real Bliss, doesn't take you to the land of Bliss tho.
Damn i can't wait to go on another journey been a good few weeks stuck on this damn planet.
Hope you're all doing well my friends, believe in the power of Prayer.❤️✌️

Hi BB
Was waiting for Psychonauts to resurface and am catching up on several threads.
I agree with you, I'm starting to see it the same way: if I had to I'd give up THC and would stick to shrooms & Lucy (mostly microdoses though).
I still have one of Psychonauts Dimitri vape form last year but am keeping it for the right time.
Agreed that need is maybe not the word, food and water (and love) is all you need to stay alive but I always felt that the spirit needs its own food.
And also the picture above: when we went down to the arcade as teenagers we were never as good at the games than when we had a smoke: there was that moment when we were in the zone and we would always end up in the top 10 high scores. Sorry FBI!

There's a great documentary on sky documentaries about the legendary "Big Beach Boutique" beach party on Brighton beach back in 2002. Well worth a watch, especially if you were one of the 250k folk that attended.
There were some mental outdoor parties in the early 2000's
This being one, The Leeds love parade and Glastonbury in 2000 were 2 of my most memorable.

He did a Beach Tour around the country shortly after and I got to see him at Northumbria Uni back in my student days. Will try and have a watch.
We also had Tiesto play Newcastle Uni. Crazy small venue for such a big dj.

I and my buddies were there. Was awesome if absolutely mental. Did quite a lot of outdoor events in those days. Homelands was a classic.

I built the big tents at homelands one year and after the festival someone found a police amnesty box it was insane !! Police just left it in the middle of the field with stuff to be picked up by someone… the site team had the maddest night ever lol

Klaus Schulze: Seth - Pt. 3
Not experienced anything musically as amazing as Bach and Stravinsky. In particular, Brandenburg concerto no.3 movement 3 and Petrushka. The compassion expressed in Bach is like being the heart of god. And Petrushka, a pure delight of the senses.

I'm a jazz cat, started out with hip hop in the early 80's, as I grew and understood the source content more, I got into jazz, funk, soul, disco etc etc. I have stoopid jazz collection at this point, still find new samples every day.
Coltrane's Naima is the song I want to escort me to the next level when the time comes.
Other than the ones we all know and love (Coltrane, Miles, Monk, Grant etc) Paul Desmond's discography has kept me busy recently, love Bobby Hutcherson and Bobby Humphreys. So much jazz so little time

Just remembered how i got turned on to jazz - saw Don Cherrys Nu in Aberdeen in the 90s and i was blown away !

Hi glabazoie
Not a song I know very well but there is a classic version by Julie London with Barney Kessel on guitar (album "Julie Is Her Name").
There is an instrumental version I like a lot because of Grant Green playing a beautiful guitar solo (on the album "All The Gin IS Gone" by Jimmy Forrest).
You can listen to both on Youtube.
I have a few Jazz Standards which I like (and play as a dabbling Jazz guitar player) but they are the usual array: Stella by Starlight, You Go to My Head, Foggy Day In London, How High The Moon and so on but it really depends on the artist.
Also there is a major distinction between instrumental versions and sung versions. I don't think the instrumental versions are as accessible to the casual listener.
Cheers

I’m picturing like six drum and bass enthusiasts in Chechnya, absolutely gutted, planning a political asylum case. Refugee status on raver grounds. Their freedom to skank out shall not be infringed and I stand with them.

Thought of sharing this nice image of dr. Albert Hofmann and Goa Gil that showed on my feed today.

Wow that truly is awesome! Pioneering legends, that's for sure! Their memory lives on!

Check out Zetan Spore. Seen them live many times, including off me face on shooms at a friend's wedding.

Band reunions - celebration or desecration?
Case by case basis really. Seen Blur at Wembley recently and they were great. Sometimes it's better though to let things be. Stone Roses also good although those 2 new tracks were bad. Good idea to have not bothered with an album.

My Bloody Valentine. Glad they did it. Never saw them in the day.
Depends on the band I guess. Seeing Sleep do Dopesmoker in full was another highlight.

LB Appreciation Society Unite!

Sitting here enjoying this track as i think about how LB has made life a bit easier the last few weeks, letting a bong of his Holinesses' Kosher Kush topped with RealD's Gary Iso melt the back of my eyes... yep, much easier!
Lessons have been learned, eyes opened, perceptions realised, focus narrowed, faces have been revealed to be multilayered, one of many, one for me, one for you, be careful out there people, not everyone is your friend but look after and be grateful for the ones who are, life is too short to waste it on bad anything and the most precious thing we have is time, spend it doing the things that make you happy.

Goldie Lookin Chain - Soap Bar
Haha love it brung back some memories thanks for that Shroom 😊 being from Wales me and my mates loved Goldie Lookin Chain 😂

Brilliant!! I’ve seen some comments of people talking about good soap bar, now I always thought soap bar was the crap stuff , any memories people have of hash being good it was just good hash ! Soap bar or diesel or gak bar was the rubbish cut stuff, rock hard bits of plastic in it , odd smell and gave you a headache lol

Jesus this brings back memories.. was our groups theme song back when we was 16.
"Soap bars cheap and so's my clothes.. they gotta be cos all the fucking holes"
Good times but don't miss the hot rocks and in no hurry to smoke soap bar again. Lol
Looking forward to trying some of yours just waiting to re-up on some cash 👍😁

Hip Hop is alive!

I am a 80/90s hip hop fan, for a long time hip hop in my eyes has been dead, there have been the few sparks here and there over the past 20 years and the likes of KRS 1, Paris, Dead Prez, Guru (RIP), Public Enemy, Jeru etc. have kept it real with the message and essence of what hip hop represented in its prime, highlighting the race and wealth inequality in society and acting as a "Black CNN" talking directly to the people.
In the 80s and 90's the message was Fight the Power, and that's where I feel we have come full circle.
Check out Fight The Power 2020 on Public Enemies new album.
The calls for equality in a deeply polarised society couldn't be heard louder, on the right, division, hatred and the slow creep of fascism, not just in America but here in the UK and across Europe.
As George Carlin mentioned, America has owners, "huge corporations who control the media and the politicians, they own everything" its true and that's why the message is controlled to support the status quo, this is the end game of Capitalism.
Hip hop and graffiti art speaks for the people, some of the last vestiges of independent expression, hip hop can be fun and silly, I love loads of hip hop, Redman, Raekwon and Daz Dillinger are some of my all time favourites but deep down it represents a movement for change.
This year has been kind so far.
If your a fan, check out:
RTJ4
Public Enemy - when the grid goes down
Paris - Safe Space Invader
By all means add your own recommendations too.
For the record my favourite rapper is Tupac Shakur.
My favourite album is Death Certificate by Ice Cube.
I love most music and I'm not a hater of stuff I dislike, unless it's corporate soulless shit selling sex, consumerism and greed, especially if it's targeted at children. Specifically music videos should not be porn unless stated as such.
Peace Comrades :)

Ooooo I didnt know about a new serial killers ill have to check that out. The last one was amazing.
I could be wrong but I think public enemy just released something new. Had a couple pop up on my Spotify recently but not heard the whole album.
If you want to take a punt on some uk hip hop id highly recommend fliptrix, skinnyman, dabbla and ocean wisdom just to name a few.

Can't fault high focus. I use to listen to Skinnyman but he started sharing some crazy things without fact checking so left him alone. If you like Skimmyman look at Braintax, not about anymore as he did a runner with everyone's money but still some good bars

Yeah there has been a lot of that going round lately. People seem to be caught up in the hype of everything and don't bother checking what they are told and just take it as facts.
I actually saw skinnyman and fliptrix doing a set together last last year and they were both amazing live...fliptrix has such a stage presence when he performs.
Ill go check braintax out too. Thanks for the suggestion

Every man has a right to live
Love is all that we have to give
Together we struggle by our will to survive
And together we fight just to stay alive

I can see clearly now the rain is gone💯
I can see all obstacles in my way💚
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind💫

Had a couple liberty cap shrooms today that i picked yesterday, fantastic so they are, just took the two, one this afternoon and one this evening.
Someone was out in the fields gathering them all up, i had seen the shrooms before and regretted not picking some so when i seen them again yesterday i didn't hesitate gathering a few.

We can get through this guys and gals,
we've got it in the pocket and the end is in sight.
Lets push through, get the job done, pack up, have our smoke and be happy.

Psalm 137:1
English Standard Version
How Shall We Sing the Lord's Song?
137 By the waters of Babylon,
there we sat down and wept,
when we remembered Zion.

Box of Rain

Walk into splintered sunlight
Inch your way through dead dreams to another land
Maybe you're tired and broken
Your tongue is twisted with words half spoken
And thoughts unclear

Because Dylan, that's why
Dylan was my first musical love. I’m a big fan. My son’s name is Dylan, I’ve a Dylan tattoo.
A true legend
A true legend

I was introduced to his music at a very early age, and went on to play acoustic guitar and a little harmonica!😁
For around 10 years i was playing, mostly dylan, (and neil young, simon and garfunkel etc.)very dedicated i was too!😊
His voice is so expressive i think that's lost on a lot of folks.
I found his bootlegs when i went to london and worked in my early 20s, in Camden market, they were playing one of the bootlegs at the time and i felt like i'd found music heaven.
Take care friend!💚
My best friend when i was growing up also named his first born Dylan.👊

All my working life i've worked night shift or the afternoon /evening shift pretty much.
Now i work early morning start time, i've to get up around 6.
I used to still be up at 6 on weekends watching UFC. Those days are done for now, i'm working with some really cool folks now tho and i get fed at my job and i'm left alone to get it done.
Get my first wage this week but it'll not be till another couple weeks till i'm back on track.
Don't let folks tell you there's loads of jobs out there cause it just ain't the case.
Tho after i actually found work i did get other offers /opportunities else ware too but i'm happy where i am even if my start time is not for a late night stoner.
One more tip, references are important nowadays, if you're gonna leave your job try not to fall out with the company you currently work for.😁❤️

Yes, I saw you say "goodbye" to your friend and smile
I thought that it was understood
That you'd be comin' back in a little while
I didn't know that you were sayin' "goodbye" for good

I can't see my reflection in the water
I can't speak the sounds to show no pain
I can't hear the echo of my footsteps
Or remember the sounds of my own name

Early 20s i dedicated myself to guitar for a few good years, then learnt Spanish and went travelling.
Early twenties i was listening to this, reading Jack Kerouac and William S Burroughs.

Only legendary artist I've walked away from when they were performing. Super pretentious at Glastonbury refusing any screens for his performance in the late '90s. Dreadful acoustics (only worse at Glastonbury was Orbital, and that was sad as I was looking forward to them so much). We went to get food instead and left Bob singing badly out of tune. Vastly overrated performer, outstanding songwriter.

I seen him in Wembley and central Scotland, both outstanding and i got the bootlegs from both.

Well we can only speak as we find. One of the very best gigs I ever saw was Arthur Lee and Love playing not long before he succumbed to leukaemia. Outstanding acoustics and a performance so good you'd think it was recorded: Shazam showed otherwise.

I've been off around 9-10 days now and looking at another 2 weeks.
Easy peasy, it gets easier and easier each time you get off it believe me.
I suffer no real sweats now and can sleep no problem and feel pretty good too.
This time has been the easiest yet just keep yourself busy and try focusing on others, use the time to get things done.
Getting up early helps too, catch the morning sun.👍
Music is a great healer and this ones for you my friends and when we get back we ain't gonna need $40 a gram hash to get high, all we're gonna need is a puff or two of some regular and if you do choose the extortionate stuff on your return be careful!😁
I'll probably go with some $23 a gram iso hash and end up on the floor after a single skinner.
Could buy myself a g or two now but no point really especially Christmas coming up.
Be well out there and enjoy the real dopamine God gave us to get by with in this nasty cruel world we live in now.
❤️👊
