Yes to all the stuff you listed, I'm currently looking at an sg copy hanging on my wall that got half the gubbins removed, I'm planning on splitting the pickups so that I have one pickup covering all six strings and 2 other pickups covering 3 strings each which I'm them planning on routing to 3 outputs to my pedal board where it's gonna then end up going through a 2 amp one cab design I'm in collecting bits mode for.

I have no idea if it's gonna work how I envision but the idea is to basically be able to saturate as much of sub to shrill with one instrument

Oh and the guitar is a 6 string tuned to A 👍

What guage strings are you using to keep that in tune? Lowest I've dared was C standard on Gibson scale 😅

Have you considered using full range speakers in that setup? I play an 8 string guitar use a 1x15 cab with a full range speaker for that shrill and extreme lowend. Then a pair of 2x12 cabs panned stereo

I can't actually remember what speakers are in this cab at the moment, sound quality isn't really a concern currently as I don't plan to go any further than the hutch it's more the fun of working out what I want and then bodging my way to it.

Once again can't remember the previous string that were tuned to A but they came off a little while back , got Ernie ball mammoth slinkies that I think are about where I was but there still in a pack as I'm making darn certain I know what I want to do before getting my dremel out 😁

I actually do have a serious hifi job I need doing and I am to scared to even ask the manufacturer how much to repair it would be

I usually charge £20/hour + parts for this type of work, and that's gonna take about 20 mins or so. Hopefully your kidneys are worth a lot more than that 😉🤣

Naim seem to swap out the part for something else based on what I could glean with the Google device but that's about all I understood when I looked which was a while ago.

It's on a priority list it's just a really low priority list in comparison to some of my other priority lists but it's good to know your hour to kidney ratio and I will keep that in mind

Depends on the nature of the fault. Most probably down to the sketchy pot design with this type of failure. A little solder and a new pot should do it. It's Always worth a soft reset just in case gremlins have found their way into the controls 🤔

Soldering is not as tricky as it looks. A little patience and a little (and I emphasise not actually that much) practice, and you'll be golden. With repair work especially, be wary of how much heat is needed for the solder to flow vs. how much will affect component integrity. Takes a little practice 🤞

It's not a pot it's a resistor ladder that controls the volume

If it was a soldering a pot in and out that's something I can do

Tracking down which resistor is spooned and then replacing it is currently above my skill level 😁

Naim stopped using this method after this amp

I was a bit blazed last night 😅 They give you a great volume control, but having an array of resistors is a much bigger pain to service for very little benefit. They're not common until you get to the high end of hifi usually

Yup, I'm lucky that my wife's uncle is a keen but budget limited audiophile so the setup I have was his first setup which he retired due to the aforementioned volume issues, he seemed puzzled that I didn't have issue with it originally but I started to later on.

Well I had an epiphany last night, I didn't have issues first off because I was using a dac to control the volume not the unit and it was only when I went more than one input and started adjusting the volume manually I had issues.

So in theory if I retwiddle the setup and drop all inputs other than the Dac I could find a place where the resistors are all happy and let the Dac to the volume

No rules against it at all but the main reason more legal items are not listed here is because it only takes bitcoin. Few people will pay fees to buy legal stuff🤷‍♂️

Being continuously exposed to 4°C (39°F) for 20 days inhibited tumour growth and improved the survival of mice with five different types of cancerous cells

A brown fat cell, surrounded by capillaries, captured via a coloured scanning electron micrograph. Activating brown fat through cold exposure may cause it to burn glucose, which cancerous tumour cells rely on for growth

Cold temperatures could inhibit the growth of cancerous cells, according to research conducted in mice and one person with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Exposure to low temperatures is thought to prompt brown fat cells to burn glucose, cancer cells’ dominant energy source.

Some existing cancer treatments disrupt glucose uptake to slow or prevent tumour growth. These tend to be administered via drugs, rather than whole-body exposure to cold therapy. Drugs may have more side effects and complex administration regimens, relative to cold therapy.

To test cold therapy’s potential, Yihai Cao at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden and his colleagues implanted five different types of cancerous cells into a group of mice. Some of the rodents were then continuously exposed to very low temperatures, but above freezing, for 20 days.

This exposure activated the mice’s brown fat tissue, which burns energy rather than storing it, reducing the tumours’ energy supply.

These mice went on to have considerable tumour inhibition and a survival rate that was almost double that of mice that received no treatment.

“This is really something new: not directly targeting cancer cells, but rather altering global metabolism in the body to affect tumours,” says Cao.

To eliminate the possibility that the tumour suppression was down to something other than the cold therapy, Cao and his team intervened in several ways. After surgically removing the cold-exposed mice’s brown fat, or turning off the gene by which brown fat generates heat, tumour inhibition was absent.

The inhibition was also absent when the mice were fed a high-glucose diet, suggesting that the tumours’ growth was inhibited by a lack of glucose. The team also performed a genetic analysis on the cold-exposed tumours, finding a decrease in markers associated with glucose consumption.

In a second part of the experiment, Cao and his team exposed a group of six healthy human volunteers to 16°C (61°F) for 2 to 6 hours a day for two weeks. Similarly to the mice, the volunteers’ brown fat tissue became activated.

The researchers then continuously exposed a person with Hodgkin’s lymphoma to 22°C (72°F) for seven days. Not only did their brown fat become activated, their tumours also consumed less glucose over this period.

The results are solid, but more research needs to be carried out, both in animals and in humans with tumours, says Katiuscia Bianchi at the Barts Cancer Institute in London.

According to Saverio Tardito at the Beatson Institute in Glasgow, UK, the mice tumour growth results are “striking”. But given that this treatment would most likely be administered in combination with chemotherapy, it might negatively affect chemotherapy drugs, he says, which has to be ruled out before any joint treatments are carried out.

Cao himself concedes that the genetic variation in people’s brown fat and its response to cold might make the treatment unsuitable for some. People with later-stage cancer who have already lost weight also may be unable to risk losing more through brown fat-driven energy consumption, he says."
