Spending too much $$$ on a grinder?
I wanna treat myself to something nice. My bog standard £10 Amazon grinder is fine I guess, but could be better.
I am currently eyeing up the Brilliant Cut Grinder, but am leaning away as I CBA to wait 2 months for it to ship from Canada. Also, I like to keep my crappier weed in the kief collector bit, and BCGs are only 3 pieces. Am also looking at the Santa Cruz Shredder, which seems highly rated.
Money isn't too much of an object, however, if a £40 grinder is just as good as a £100 one, obvs. would prefer to spend less. I mostly DHV (Crafty+), if that matters. Thanks!

My one constantly needs me to manually poke small bits of weed through the holes, lol. It does get the weed nice and fluffy though - which is what I hear SC is great for.

Depends what you want. I love a grinder that collects keif. Some don’t.
I highly doubt a £100 grinder will be all that much better than a £40 one. Probably paying for branding a lot of times. All made in the same factory in China. So unless you know it’s hand CNC’d. Then be wary.
Otherwise. What’s up with cheap grinders? Unless it’s a flex. I’ve had a grinder for 10 years. Cost me £20. Still does the job.
Bought a £25 one recently. Which also does the job. But collects ludicrous levels of keif.
Sorry. Not sure if I answered the question. But hype and desirability do not alway equal good value for money. So beware of influencers saying this grinder, or that grinder is the one.
It’s just a fuckin’ grinder. It grinds weed. It’s not rocket science.

Nah, you answered it. I think a fancy grinder is like a high quality knife. It feels better to use and does the job faster, but you don't strictly need one to cook. A crappy Wilko (R.I.P.) knife does the job well enough. Thanks!

I have the following grinders
Large Santa Cruz
Large BCG
2 large flower mills
1 medium flower mill
1 medium Santa Cruz
1 zam
A metric fuckton of various cheap and cheerful ranging from flower mill clones to hemp biodegradable ones
The mills are my favourite followed by the Bcg
Anyone who says there isn't a difference between a premium and budget grinder are in my opinion incorrect especially when living with one long term
Personally I don't do keif collection as I want my weed to typical stay in my weed but I do get why people do it
The mills can be four piece
BCG seconds don't have the wait and genuinely I couldn't see what made mine a second

Hi DR, been looking at the new standard flower mill on RVS for £30 which has the "medium" plate, I believe. Do you use different plates on the premium or just stick to one? Any plates better than others (for general vaping)?
I'm attracted to the simplistic nature of the Standard but wondered if having only the medium plate would limit my experience? I'm using Dynavap/Tiny Might style vapes. (oh and the best ever in the whole world, Solo2... fishing rod extended... 😉)
Cheers :)

I pretty much only use the medium plates I have played around with the plates and find that medium works best for 90% of my stuff

I have several and they are vapman exclusives pretty much now
I have several and they are vapman exclusives pretty much now

I have a very technical solution for this 🤓: for a courser grind I turn the wheel less🤫…I’m going to patent my technique!

Get one of the BCG factory seconds. I can't spot a blemish on mine.
They're in stock and took about 10 days to the UK and I think there's still 15% off promo running. Best purchase I've made.
Get the medium plate. If you want a finer grind, grind upside down for a few rotations then flip it back up the right way.

I'm really happy with the stainless steel Herb Ripper I bought around a year ago. Had to soak it in iso once to get all of the left on weed hash and bits off it, and my mate genuinely thought I'd bought a new one. Not at those prices! Bought a fine grinding plate for it too, which I think should probably be the standard plate, but that's no doubt why it's separate and a costly add-on. Hopefully it'll last a lifetime.

Smoking weed in a flat

Smoking weed in a flat
Ok I’ll try and cut a long story short. I’ve been living in a semi detached house for about 6 years. I’m a daily smoker, I’m disabled and I have been using weed to manage my pain for about the past ten years. I have never had an issue with any neighbours complaining or anything like that. Recently my landlord sold my house and I was served an eviction notice and due to my disability the council agreed to house me and got me a flat in my local area. I have never lived in a flat before and I’m quite worried about the neighbours complaining about me smoking weed. ( they are mostly elderly and disabled people) my local housing authority that has housed me has a zero tolerance policy about any drug use and I really don’t want any complaints against me. I have switched to vapes for the time being to reduce the smell. but I really prefer joints and it doesn’t feel the same to me. I usually smoke just pure flower joints. Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions? Am I just being paranoid? Any advice is welcome thank you biggas ❤️

I had the same problem mate. I tried a prescription but the costs were ridiculous and i cancelled after a couple of months
that being said it did provide documentation stating i was legally permitted to use cannabis.
I sent the details to tower hamlets housing, and actually just told my neighbours i had a prescription, and just never told them when i cancelled it.
If you’re proactive about it there’s little they can do.
I still smoke a bong in the flat from time to time, but mostly use a dry herb vape with the window open and there are no issues with smell.
Best of luck! Remember the system is wrong, not you!

Hello there,
If it hasn't been mentioned already, try to get a script. There are plenty of places about that would help you, generally for a £50 or so consultation fee. They will assess your need, these weed places have their own doctors so it will probs be a video call. If you get accepted, buy some weed off them so you get a bag with a prescription stuck to it... Then I guess you refil the bag with whatever you want. One place that springs to mind is curaleaf

Get a filter that sucks up all the air in the room and an outlet pipe which connects or hangs off your window so the air that gets sucked from the inside get pulls straight out the gaff!

Your welcome

Hi, apologies if this is an old post. I'm in a similar situation.
A few months back I bought a purifier listed on Amazon as 'PureMate Smart Air Purifier with Ioniser mode, Air Quality Monitor, Display Off, Air Filter', cost about £120 with extra filters being £25ish, I think. That made a big difference though it's already not as good as it was when I first had it - it maybe just needs a new filter (or the old one hoovering!) There are smaller, cheaper versions but I can't comment on how good they are. I got one after seeing a similar post from bigga BBDoom. You probably don't need one with the ioniser or UV light, etc, they don't seem to make much difference? It makes a big difference to have it running while smoking but it's definitely not as 'quiet' as advertised - it also helps (to a lesser extent) if you just run it for a couple of hours after you've gone to bed.
Another thing that might help is to get yourself a good oil diffuser and have a few drops of oil in it that'll help mask the smell - PurEssential makes an oil that helps with smoke odours, and there are similar room sprays that supposedly do the same thing. Lots of stuff online about different diffuser oils that can help to hide smoke smells, etc. In my experience, people notice how 'nice' the room smells rather than anything else 😉😂. We've come a long way from burning some stinky incense (often bad for your breathing) and thinking it does anything other than obviously highlighting that you're trying to cover up a weed smell! Ahhh, the ignorance of my teenage youth! 😂
I've also seen some good smell-proof bags recently (but can't remember what they're called), everything from pencil case to rucksack size - available from Amazon (though I'd caution about having weed-related items in your Amazon history). They'll help reduce the smell if you can be arsed to keep taking everything in and out of it.
Finally, regardless of how 'clear' you think your room smells, get a non-smoking friend in to give you their opinion! You just don't notice the smell as much in your own home if you're constantly around it.
Please let us know if you find something that works well for you. Good luck! 👍

Diffusers whilst smoking will really mess up the air quality, you will have bud smell mixed with lovely oils which will really stench up a place. Your best bet is the filter which sucks the air with the duct connected to your window as the outlet(air output)… Do this and thank me later!

Yep, I didn't mean smoking whilst the diffuser's running - I run the purifier whilst (or after) smoking, and run the diffuser when not smoking (overnight or in the morning). Thanks for the clarification PE 👍. I'm interested in a filter ducting out the window but, when I see that, I always assume there's a grow happening, and I'd be worried that others would think the same.
If people have a similar setup for non-weed reasons, what is it actually for (ie what would you say it's for if someone asked)? I'd be very interested in this if I could see a setup that didn't look dodgy - is there anything you can link to I can have a look at? Appreciated, cheers 👍

A fan and filter setup would work best. You can sit it on a table and use it without ducting if need be, on a recycle mode if you will. Any smoke/air going through will get treated. Added bonus, all smoke/air will gravitate towards the filter, so none escapes out the door.

Thanks for replying, Harry 👍. Do you know if there's anything good that runs quietly? If you can recommend anything or link to something I'd really appreciate it. Cheers 👍

Look up carbon filters its just the same fan and filter you use in a grow,id suggest rhino carbon.filter there good and diff sizes, the smell sticks to the carbon and they do work mate

Cheers James 👍 Others have recommended Rhino products too. They're a bit pricey for me atm but it looks like they're the way to go. Thanks 👍

Not an expert on this subject but I would suggest getting a medical prescription, not for the access to flower etc but more just as some form of protection from draconian council policies. Looks quite bad on them evicting someone who has a legitimate medical reason to use

There are things you can try but nothing smells more than a joint unfortunately. You could try a sploofy, or get a fan and cover it with those scented dry cleaner sheets, or a combo. Better yet might be to consider using you favourite weed in some brownies. But I agree with nesto that if you have some kind of medical note/ prescription that might cover you. Otherwise pray for windy rainy nights where you can smoke it out of your window. I moved to vaping a while back, ULC and dr Terpy are good for distillate, and people who vape swear by live resin vapes, they cost a little more but the high on those is supposedly closer to a joint high, try sensi-mart for that perhaps, people love their live resin stuff. One day I will try this myself no doubt

In my experience, if you're smoking inside regularly somebody is bound to complain sooner or later. You'd be better off switching to dry herb vaping, what one did you buy? I could never get into it until I bought a high-end vape, took a week or so to get used to it but since then I haven't smoked in years. Far, far stealthier.

As others have said. Best solution is what growers do and suck the air through a carbon filter.
Rhino make great filters. You’ll need a fan and filter that can handle the volume of air in the room.

carbon filter and fan , you can get fans that are voltage controlled so it will be more quiet, i run a mini 6inch in my smoke room, was better with the larger one but next door is a weed farm so i can slack off

Plug in ozone generator left on timer near front door is a great last line of protection. Yes,I know they aren’t great for your health, but so is being homeless.
I’m suprised how few people are aware of these bits of kit.
You can even get them for your car.
They are super effective and start at £20.

I used to be in a very similar situation.
I bought an air purifyer and an activated carbon air filter, about £150 all in.
I can smoke a joint in my living room with both of these on and the smell is gone in half an hour and nobody outside knows any better

Moving it stressful as balls, so we completely understand where you are coming from. In my experience, so long as you aren't a neighbour from hell, most people probably won't care. I live in a shitty flat, and you are very much at the mercy of your immediate neighbours. You might find a single-dweller (who doesn't generally disturb the peace) gets a lot of leeway.
Besides, even if they did complain, the council likely has better things to worry about. I'm not saying the risk isn't there, but moreso that the gaps between 'neighbour disapproves', 'neighbour complains', and 'you get turfed out' are bigger than they seem.
The one thing that might tick them off is if you stink out the place. So, as already said here, odor absorbers/removers could give you some peace of mind.

So, smell reduction. Maybe block the bottom of the external flat door, and also the door of the room you smoke in to prevent random diffusion.
Currently I'm using a Levoit Core 300S air purifier and that thing is being worked ludicrously hard. Seems to work at minimising odor along with copious sprays of Febreeze (those cans don't last long!), but there's still a residual smell that you'd have to sort out if people who didn't like that smell called over.
The company that Chasin'Orange mentioned but couldn't remember is Stashic. Also available from them, and from other retailers than the ubiquitous one. The rucksack is very roomy, but I haven't tested it in the wild for its odor dampening qualities.

'Stashic' is the company I meant, thank you MightyRux 👍. I did also see versions without their logo on it that looked exactly the same so, with the Stashic, you might just be paying extra for their logo, I don't know. And I totally agree RE blocking the bottom of doors 👍.

any fasting biggaz out there?
i've started to dabble with holding out to dinner. it has been positive overall, there's surely a high, maybe also a little anger too though. anyone else trying this?

I love fasting! Clear my head better than any meditation 🧘🏻♀️
Lately I’ve been doing OMAD (One Mea a Day) and it’s amazing, such a hassle free way of living plus it makes easier to choose something healthy to eat.
The only thing that makes me go OUT OF CONTROL is the munchies 🥴 I would eat the legs of the chairs if i could ha

I've replaced most munchies with strawberries. Great results. Exceptionally clean teeth too!

Did a ten day fast with only water few months ago..Had the occasional bit of salt and lemon to suppress appetite. Cleared pimples ive had for years, black marks on my skin. Still smoked weed during it..called it my "weed and water" fast
but wow was an amazing experience days 2-3 are the hardest, after that u get a natural body high and u feel intermittent bursts of energy which u should use to do light exercise....was losing over 0.8kg a day..would defo recommend!!
Dr Berg on youtube for more info helped me alot!

done this for years found it a bit harder latley though. id wake up 8am and wouldnt eat till 4pm to 7pm never felt hungry to a point ide suffer so didnt have any issue doing it. since covid i have been eating earllyer due to feeling starved by 1pm will i get back to old self probabby not since having covid twice now eating in general is not what it used to be like taste and texture not the same anymore.

ha! in my case it is not so. my metabolism went up. and I can now drink and smoke more than before ;) with much less bad side-effects

I've been on and off 17/7 for the last year and I feel I reached a plateau.. I wonder if I should try OMAD or one day on, one day off.. Any one have any tips on how to not stuff your face once your fasting time is up?!

I would really urge anyone who is or is planning to fast to get a checkup at their GP first. Make sure your vitamineral levels are good.
A few years back I was addicted to speed and consistently went 4-6 days without food (and sleep) when one day I just fell over and woke up in the hospital the day after. I was apparently on the verge of starving to death even though I'm a tubby motherphoenix, so stay safe friends!

My app tells me I have fasted 8277 hours! i tend to eat between 12-8pm and have lost a total of 4 stone, im not sure ive noticed many mental benefits though other than not berating myself constantly haha If anyone wants a good tracker app, I use Fastic.

I have 18 hours between eating everyday which seems to help me anyways. Best thing I’ve done is pair that with stopping all processed foods and sugar. grass fed biltong and walnuts are my snack of choice. Milk thistle, moringa powder, turmeric, cayenne and Ceylon washed down with ginger juice is definitely worth trying too.

Yeah, I do it once a year. Did do it for detox and lose some weight but recently it's been a more spiritual experience.

I’ve always naturally kinda fasted. Never really had breakfast or lunch. I do have coffee or tea so break my fast I guess with the milk. But I only really eat my evening meal about 7/8pm and then might snack again with the munchies till about 2am. I’m not a massive eater tho and could probs do with eating more.

i fast maybe every 2-3 days for a day sometimes 2 , longest i ever fasted was 9 days. also i mainly only eat one meal a day (Unless im toking) Munchies make it way to hard too fast XD

I went through a phase a few years ago of doing three day water fasts. Always felt very serene on the last day. By the time it came to actually eat again, I wasn't that bothered!

I generally don't eat until about 5pm. Still overweight due to munchies. But have halved sugar and doubled cardio and weights with really impressive results.

Just starting Out my own fast, just water only for the last 48 hours.
Going to try it once a week (for the health benefits)
No bad side affects so far, just not able to eat socially can be a downer when your on it.

How are you getting on? I’ve been intermittent fasting (16:8) for a while, always tempted to do a 48 or 72 hour fast, so like a full body reset

Do it bro.. its amazing..but must say first 72 hours are usually the hardest..after that your body starts using its own fat reserves more efficiently.. so would suggest 7-10 days if u can.. everyday after the 3rd ull see benefits and increased energy levels..

Wow! That’s a long one haha Do you experience much muscle wastage in that time? Burning a bit of fat is never a bad thing though haha

I stopped for now, but honestly I felt much more healthy when I was doing the fast and need to jump back on or at least reset my diet yet again… too many Greg’s tuna baguettes at 10 am during the week plus weekend take away has ruin my diet.
Too much processed foods.
The fast is an easy way to reset body and diet and just great for the mental.
going to go for a half day fast on Monday and steadily creep up to a 48/72 hour fast over the next couple weeks

yeah that’s the downfall of our diets these days, everything is just so easy to get our hands on. Access to food constantly, I always have a bit of a relapse at weekends haha deadly case of the munchies 😂 I will most definitely do a 48 hour one soon I think, I seem to get on quite well with 16:8 and like you said you feel healthier

after my fasts i usually make a big pot of spicey Chanko or ramen and have it for days after XD

i like to brake fast with the least appealing healthiest foods i can get my hands on, basically their day in the sun

48 is right when it starts feeling a wee bit psycho. like you're going to eat a side of beef or nothing ever again.
that said i find the hardest part is compatibility with others and meal times

I agree, a big portion of connections with other people is around dinner time. Hard to miss.

Favourite coffeeshop in Dam
Like in topic, give me your best picks, my fav is definitely 420cafe, excellent parvati cream they have <3
Cheers!
Cheers!

Its been a few years since i have been but the best shops last time were MrK&co and family first and also I had a great time in Reefer - they had some fire dutch and import. for me its more about the atmosphere - I am a chilled stoner and cant stand the ultra busy and loud shops.

Katsu, Mr K, Family First, Bagheera, Bluebird. That's probably my current top 5. I was last there in December.

Probably my favourite Coffeeshop if I had to choose one. You can always rely on Solo’s quality, especially their hash.

I love 1eHulp, for quality of product and a nice place too, a bit of a walk out of the centre but worth it

1eHulp ('First Aid') is a great choice, and not the only good reason for walking out of the centre, it's in a cool part of town. All the best bits of the Dam lie beyond the Prinsengracht. Flower Power round the corner on the Rozengracht is my fave, I discovered Manala Cream in there. Yum!

Haven’t been for a while but bush doctor used to have great products and a nice outdoor space.

Bush doctor was always my goto. Early 2000s tried nyc sour diesel there for the first time. Great coffee shop

Bush doctor was family firsts dad I believe. See family first on fsotd podcast mention it

Ah used to love the Future and Fancy Free but alas they are both gone, Prix D'Ami purely for the fact you can score a smoke and then shoot some pool

Loved Prix D’Ami, pitch black other than pool table lights and the occasional glow of a toke.

It's been a least 12 years since I've been, homegrown fantasy was always a favourite, abraxas, grey area and Barney's,la cana pool hall was always a good shout.

Kashmir lounge.. by far the best coffee shop.. check out the lounge..best hash collection..near the moroccan area.. you will love it

I always used to love the Bluebird but haven't been for 30 years. Nice to see it's still going.

I'm more interested in the hash than the cali pack type stuff.
Last time I was out, I hung out in Siberie, Katsu, Kashmir, Coffeeshop Amsterdam.
If you're after good bud, 1ehulp or borejorgens.

been twice this year, babas coffee shop was my personal favourite, good price dutch, great seating and a ball vape ready for you to use if you would like at no extra cost. It’s not in central (15 min bus from station) but i also absolutely love basjoes if you’re lucky enough to sit in the booth.

I like to buy my stuff in the popular ones (Terps army, Family first, grey area ect) then sit in the less popular/places & you can get food in some. Like hillstreetbooze. Bulldog lounge, La grotte. This is a great method tried and tested there’s a few others but I can’t remember the names ect.

visited a few now but I like yanks in zandvoort... its very realxed and the budtenders are sound..... sometimes found the ones the dam to be quite wanky at times lol

Hill street blues for the different music every day and the vibe
Home grown fantasy, slightly off the beaten track but with Power Plant :)

Sounds like the worst advice ever. Just got back last night and the stand out shops are Green place, Terps army, The Plug and Family First.

Bulldogs along with Smokey's are 2 of the shittest coffee shops in Amsterdam, 2 of the best are 1E Hulp and Green Place

Pretty sure I was the first to comment 27. Went through all the comments before to make sure I was only one to pick 27. Hey ho you win some you lose some
