Cali imports vs quality UK weed

Just had a question for the community - my friend and I have always had a bias against trying imported Cali weed. Not because of the quality of what's grown there, I'm sure it's amazing. But, firstly, worry over being sold fake stuff on the street at a high price (not a concern here with trusted vendors of course). And, above all, just worry about the transit process, not knowing what goes on, whether it might get sprayed with preservatives, or something else like that.

I just ordered some from the Pontiff (he said most of his Midzotics are Cali, plus other imports), and I cannot wait to try it for the first time, it sounds amazing based on reviews.

Anyway, is there any foundation for my concerns about imported stuff in general? I'm sure it's grown extremely well at source, and people are clearly loving it, but yeah I mean about the transit... Might be a stupid question, but I'm just genuinely clueless about it, as I bought directly from a very small, friendly group of UK growers for a long time (sadly, it disbanded recently).

My heart has always leaned heavily towards quality, local UK growers (also having a friend who used to be a small scale one, part of that group) - but should I just embrace both?

Grateful for any thoughts.

I have a similar bias but it's partly based on experience. I'd never tried 'Cali' before joining LB and having tried some of the low and mid tier options from reputable vendors, I've given up on it as a bad lot. The lows really are poor quality and the mids I've had weren't much better. A lot of the imported bud has obviously been grown using PGRs (not what I want to consume) which makes it fall foul of the strict US standards and means it gets shipped over here to us by the ton. Lots of UK buyers seem willing to lap it up just because of the Cali tag but I prefer to stick to well-grown UK flower any day.

I've not tried the $120 for 3.5g top shelf stuff and I doubt I ever will. I see no reason to spend that on an eighth when the same money could get me 14g of homegrown fire

We're cut from the same cloth! I'd love to buy an import pack from TGD but if I can get a half I'll always take that option.

I think good weed is good weed regardless of where it was grown. For peace of mind I think if you know someone who grows from seed then they're usually a safe bet. There's a reason why British Bulldog sells out crops in no time at all for example. I much prefer 'springier' (is that a word?) buds to the rock solid nugs that are sometimes sold as Cali. Definitely want to avoid any PGR shit.

Yeah this just confirms my instinct...I didn't even think of chemicals during the grow process (as I just assumed some kind of regulation completely naively). But I'm paranoid by precisely stuff like the PGR you both describe. And the lack of freshness of the bud or the rock-hard quality. Completely agree about growing from seed. For me that kind of thing is much more important than a fad or hype (not to mention the cost). Btw the Midzotics from the Pontiff were very nice, great flavour and highs (and only a bit more expensive) - but I also later got some UK grown Blue Dream from Green Cat which is fantastic. And some UK homegrown weed has been the best I've ever smoked (I've never smoked in the US itself). I'm sure there's a place for top shelf, real stuff, but it's not worth the cost to me, except as a curiosity - I'm def sticking almost exclusively to well-grown UK flower!

It used to annoy me a bit that people were so obsessed with 'Cali'. The whole thing just seemed like utter nonsense but thesedays I just figure if that's what certain people want then let them have it. No harm done (except to their wallet).

I'm sure there are some banging Cali products out there, I know TGD have a solid reputation for their imports.

To me it though it seems a bit like Cristal Champagne. Sells at about £300 a bottle and I've been guilty of paying that myself for a mates stag do. Is it any better than Veuve Clicquot at £50 a bottle? Well everything is subjective but personally I don't think so.

Not to mention even Veuve is outclassed in blind taste tests by supermarket brands almost every Christmas. I think a year or so ago Aldi was smashing it with a £15 bottle of fizz people couldn't get enough of.

But you're not going to look very cool turning up to a stag do with a bottle of Aldi's finest...

So it has its place.

The idea that just because its grown in California automatically makes it superior is (in my humble option) very misguided. But we've all got opinions. 😂

Interestingly my grow shop guy was talking to me about synthetic vs organic bud hardener a few months ago. Synthetic being PGR, organic tends to focus more on raising PK levels and also adding things like mollases etc (I'm no expert I don't use either) and when I asked him what the benefit of the synthetic over the organic was... he said

"it all depends whether your customers want that whole 'Cali' look. If that's what they want go synthetic"

That about summed it up for me.

As I said, there is genuine high quality California weed going round, even on here, but there's also a hell of a lot of neo PGR riddled 'Cali' rubbish that's probably UK grown and is sold at an elevated price because you can play marbles with it. 😉

Not to mention the points PP has made which are entirely valid. It seems we're getting the dregs from the west coast that aren't ending up being burned.

Anyway, live and let live. If people want it and enjoy it, and are willing to pay for it, then that's totally up to them.

Thanks for your thoughts BB :) - for me, the thing that matters most is the homegrown, organic, care aspect. These plants are living things, so how could all of that (and the reverse - chemicals etc) not have an impact on the quality of the high and any negative aspects? Some of the best stuff I've ever smoked was grown by my friend here, so I never felt the need to get Cali at all. Definitely always seemed like a bit of a fad to me, as you were saying (the idea that it's automatically superior), plus I'm paranoid about the potential chemicals.

Can't wait to try your stuff! As I said before I think, I came to Little Biggy above all to find people like you and the Druids and others :) that's all I need. But also exactly, each to their own - whatever blows your socks off ;)

There is huge overproduction in California (and Canada are destroying literally thousands of tonnes!), so exports are easily and cheaply bought with the shipping cost and risk being the key factors. The fact that an estimated 60-70% of users have “gone back to the streets” citing quality and taxation as the main reasons suggest that mass production is not the nirvana it was intended to be.

I don’t think there is any doubt that decent UK growers can spank Cali mids and lows with their eyes shut and we are lucky here to have some class growers.

Top shelf Cali is a fine product indeed. Can it be faked?, oh yeah, you can buy hundreds of different branded bags online. Is it too expensive?..well, that depends on your budget. I’m happy I’ve bought the Cali packs I have- 100% genuine and a wonderful vape. A great treat for a special occasion but overall I prefer to spend time watching for the next release from our UK growers!👀👍

I agree with many of the comments and the point of your post. I’ve had mostly negative experiences with imported bud, like someone else said it’s usually not that fresh and nearly always overpriced low/mid. Plus I see all the round up and poisons in the American food chain and dread to think what trickery can be used on weed production. I will always cluck for some proper uk homegrown, in my opinion it’s unbeatable. But each to their own. That being said I was having a crisis last night looking at THC’s new offering of the Lemon jars for $190. I sat for around half an hour debating if I should order or not, in the end I’ve decided to stay sober for abit longer. My last order on here didn’t come and I think it’s time to give myself a break.

Yeah exactly! The freshness aspect, the (scary US) chemicals, the cost...I'd rather try the real deal in the US itself someday. Proper UK homegrown all the way :)

Cali has become a poison chalice.
When people hear it they have the instant expectation that it will be of better quality than the UK flower they normally get.
It's such a vague term that in reality means absolutely nothing here.
So I think even if you have some unbelievable bud from West coast , it is best not to label it cali unless you want to, essentially (no offence)target it towards noobs here.

A lot of Cali isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

The bud coming from the UK atm is on par if not better then most of the mids and lower garbage that’s available now.

And then you have the time factor. For me especially it could take anywhere up to 2/3 weeks to get it delivered. Not so fresh when it comes & under p to get it sold.

Bigger fish may have a better experience.

No it is not worth it!!!!!

While I’ve not wrote them all up, I’ve smoked some of the cheapest on here to the top packs (Cali and UK)and grown my own.

I’ve had cheap better than Cali and grows better than all. Does this mean one is better overall, does it fuxk. Waaaayyyyy too many variables and phenotypes at play…

The price per g is a joke and massively diminishing returns on flavour and potency!

Sometimes returning worse flavours or PERSONAL effects for that user!!!

The biggest take away id love the world of smokers to see, is:

The more that pay it the more that sell it and prices continue to go up!

I’d prefer recommending you all decent buds at half the price of Cali packs, EVERY TIME!’

even for treats, we just feed the system!!!!

These plants have roughly same life cycles and ain’t hard to grow (growing well is another matter) 😂

I'm with you - new to here but the UK Blue Dream I got from Green Cat has been lovely and a great price. And I'm (im)patiently waiting to try BB's and the Druids' stuff :) always on the lookout for some great UK bud!

And you're right too about all the variables (in my completely inexpert opinion, but that's what my grower friend has said)

Iv never had the expensive stuff and I use bud as a lot I’m sure do for some issues I have. To the point I don’t give a shut about how it tastes, if it makes me feel ok I would smoke hey.

I think there is some correlation between flavour and the quality of the high, in general. But I am sure the obsession with Cali taste is overhype as well, and it's not a guarantee of a great high, or my first priority. Also, it for sure doesn't justify the huge mark up in any case. And especially for more medicinal use, as long as it alleviates your problem, that's the most important thing. Oh also, I've had some absolutely delicious UK bud.

The ‘Cali’ we get here is pants in comparison to the weed Americans smoke… I’ve never bought tops but can get mids for 3.5 for £30 locally.. anyways…
I went Cancun in May and got some ‘Cali’ from the Americans and the weed they’re smoking is nothing like what we get over here.

It tastes exactly as it smells, like most I can’t see how that’d be possible if it needed to travel over to the UK…

One thing though, this post has made me think I’ll even stop getting the mids I get and stick to getting some good UK on LB… someone made me want to try Pontiff - always thought prices were quite high but have seen a few peeps big them up now

At what point in the purchase process do they ask these questions mate? Are you fully verified on there already? I haven't had this (yet) but last time someone asked a question about the Travel Rule options I hadn't had that either, but on my last trade I did, and I picked that I was sending it to my own wallet (as I always do). Asking 9 questions right at the point of buying would be a right ball ache.

But this morning was about to do an order with Clean Carts Club and it said on bittylicous ( yes im fully registered) 5 years now. That I had to fill in a FCA questionnaire before I could make a purchase for bitcoin. Problem is, you had to get 7 out of 9 questions right. Which I didn't manage
Main problem is, you have to wait 24 hours to be able to do the questions again 🤔. Which is a Concern. Coz chances are, if I dont get at least 7 right from 9 . Ill be in the same situation again. Having to wait another 24 hours. And so on. What im hoping for? This is the stage that I'm currently at, so will have no idea unless I 'Get some coins'... If you click that button without putting in an address to send to it fails (as I'm sure loads of stoners know), as it has for me now, and tells you it's not a valid Bitcoin address. Surely if it was going to question me it would do it then, not on the payment screen? Surely...?

Usually mate (in my long and jaded experience of filling in online compliance questionnaires for many weird and wonderful things) they'll focus on something to do with legislation where you need to know specifics (so you can Google that), or something trying to trick you because you have misread the question, or something super easy that they put in to get you above the pass mark (that you may fail if it isn't obvious to you...). I'll report back if I get this pop up for me on a trade and if I pass.

Why not educate and enlighten them?

Maybe TSMs stuff isn't as fresh as YOUR medical stuff YOU'RE getting but that's most likely to be coming from a lab in the south here, as far as I know TSMs is coming mostly from Canada, do you know how long that delivery turnaround is?
They ordered something before and it was on the menu 9/10 weeks later so yeah things might be slightly muted compared to box fresh weed from here but its Canadian mids, what are you actually expecting?

And you probably know growers are machine trimming bud now and vac-sealing it at certain humidities to get those dense 'Cali' type buds?
So, solid dense buds arent the only sign it's PGR weed then, PGR will have the solid buds but also has the complete lack of terps and often a tint of orangy brownness due to the pistils still being around, never had anything like that from TSM & I defy anybody to spend a second with the MotorBreath, Grape Juice or that wild Cherry Zoap and tell me that it's bland, flavourless or odourless bud.

Having said all that I do like to think i'm careful about what I buy and where because I work on a tight budget so do my research, I really do trust what I'm smoking and wouldn't recommend anything I wouldn't smoke myself but please, feel free to fill in the gaps in my knowledge on this, i'd hate to think i'm misleading anyone and just the chance to learn from a highly educated polymath like yourself would be a real treat, i'm sure we'd all benefit from knowing more about PGRS mate and you can really do some good work for the community by sharing your obvious knowledge.

TSM are my first choice vendor but I had a few oz from them that wasn't what I'd usually expect, one batch tasted seedy with the funny smell/taste. Anyway I spoke to them and since have buying the grapejuice which is nice and I've been happy with. Maybe they had a few random bad batches of weed as they usually get good stuff. On another note, I just purchased a second oz of RS11 cali mids from Riley Packs and was substituted with uk flavours so I'm not pleased. I am usually a loyal customer to tsm and have made the occasional order with Riley Packs, I will say though every vendor does substitute at some point and if its a big order, you're stuck with it and it's painful to smoke and pay for bud you don't like. I personally rate the spacemen overall don't know anything about pgr so feel free to educate me, I think the advantage of LB is we can share our views and experiences

I'm not looking to stir the pot, just give my experience.
I'm a heavy smoker, 2oz+ a month and was using tsm for most of my weed and was getting headaches, or I should say headache, as it was pretty much constant for months.
By chance I saw a comment about pgr, so decided to change vendor for my herb and within 3 days of changing my headache stopped completely.
It may be coincidence, or not, but I don't have headaches any more :)

I taper 3 skins by folding the parts above and below the fold, and it's always angled so that the roach goes in the left and the larger part of the slightly tapered cone is on the right.

I've never been able to roll any joint with the roach in, and I always add it at the end. I'm right handed, if this is significant in any way. I rarely fuck this up, but it's often commented on as if I'm an aberration.

The prices have gone up slightly from the last crop, only by a few bucks, mostly because my electricity bill nearly made me cry 😭 Even with the LEDs it's still a staggering increase in energy costs to run the grow space.

However, we're all struggling a bit at the moment so if I take a bit of a drop in profit margin that's not the end of the world. I'm lucky enough as a grower to be able to absorb some of the expense and still make a reasonable profit so I'm happy with that.

I read on a thread somewhere on here that we growers all bypass the electricity so the energy crisis doesn't affect us. Well I can assure whoever that was, that if my Mrs caught me monkeying about with our leccy meter I'd be out living in the shed, if I hadn't already electrocuted myself in the process! 😂

I do OK, that's enough for me.

I'm looking to get a slightly bigger setup sorted next year so that should hopefully pay off in the long run.

Anyway, thanks again buddy for your kind words and your custom over the years. It really is much appreciated. 🙏

Hello Biggas - recently cut out using baccy in joints, started smoking pure. But then had a period in some remote countryside where I couldn't even get papers (and had forgotten to bring any), so switched to a pipe and realised I much prefer dosing it that way! (and also end up smoking less).

Just have no idea where to start and where best to buy one. Can anyone recommend a good pipe? I've only ever used metal ones so what are glass ones like, what's the benefit? Appreciate any advice :)

Yes I think that’s prob where it’s headed :). As David Lynch said, “I have to say that I enjoyed smoking very much, and I do love tobacco - the smell of it, lighting cigarettes on fire, smoking them.” And I love the ritual of it. But I also don’t want to end up housebound like the great man or dead. My relationship with tobacco is over for good and I feel a lot better for it.

My only thought is - I did give up everything for about a year a while back, and used the first Pax. It was great (and def saved me a lot of money on weed), but then I had a pure joint and it seemed to hit harder than anything I’d had. I remember someone saying a vape high is like 2/3 of the full thing. Is that just a psychological thing though, or a product of not having a better vape/not going through the temperatures properly? At the moment, just taking 4-6 big pipe hits a day seems to work great for me, it’s economical and still very strong.

Anyway, I think I better start saving for the Mighty+, as Rux was saying below :) smoking is still smoking and my lungs aren’t getting any younger!

Get a bong smoke it pure or if you really want a joint professor herb tobacco replacement burns decent. After about 2 months of no baccy, high is nice and clean lasts longer, no urge to smoke for the want of nicotine and you will probably save money on bud/hash in the long run

I would recommend Manitou Green rolling tobacco available from Asda for £18 It’s fully organically grown with no additives and is a smooth smoke You do need a hydro stone to keep it from getting too dry American spirit is good but is not grown organically although has no additives added.

The pressure and the way the tobacco compacts is so different. I've had members of touring reggae bands comment on the quality of my B&H joints, but if they'd given me baccy they'd be lucky to toke through! You can easily redistribute a tighter rolled ciggy joint so there are no choke points. Almost impossible with baccy as it wants to stay in one placed position.

I know what you mean but I get round it by drying the backy a bit and using the bottom the bag which is all unclumped and doesn't want to join together again, removing those sort of problems that I have had before that ruin a joint and stop it from smoking and then resin builds up and no airflow. But if you follow my method and try it next time, and I only use a tiny bit so it doesn't really have the potential to clump up really. But each to their own if you prefer the dry ciggy backy flavour

You're asking me to unlearn nearly 30 years of rolling (after using a rolling machine) dude! I'll just carry on horrifying the youth with my 'straights' (and ability to lick and rip it open in one, as it's not hard at all) and using 3 silver Rizlas. I'm not relearning how to roll in the dark by feel and chinks of light again. It took too long to perfect.

Lol fair enough , up to you, it's very easy to roll with backy infact I find it easier than with ciggy backy as the ciggy backy doesn't want to turn into a worm so it stays really airy in the joint and sometimes part of the point burn faster making it canoe with the ciggy backy burning quicker than the nice weed. But still I've had both joints that can taste nice, it's just personal preference at the end of the day.

Ah, now we hit the crux! I use fags as they don't form a worm. A worm stage makes it too tight to toke for me. I get to nearly that with the B&H, then leave some space in the end, then roll that between my fingers so it's loose (or, at least, not tonight) before smoking. It's definitely personal preference.

If you want it to smoke quick and be an easy toker I do think cig backy is better but if you want it to last longer and be smoother then use backy in my opinion.

I can totally see both sides here having used both fag and rolling tobacco for long periods in the past. Definitely pros and cons for both but I find myself siding with Rux. For me rolling tobacco was almost purely an economic choice, if you can afford a B&H or Marlboro gold then I’d suggest that.

But also, we should really be discussing the healthier alternatives (boring, I know - sorry). I use joints as a treat now. I vape in the mighty or bong hash through the week. Helps wi tolerance too I think.

Have you tried American Spirit (blue)? It's drier than most tobaccos as it doesn't use the same preservatives. Very clean tasting so mostly taste the bud. At least in my opinion.

As far as health goes, neither, but amber leaf is my go-to. I don't mix weed with tobacco anymore but I still smoke ciggies and amber leaf just seems to be the most consistent and high quality tobacco out there. It's expensive as hell but if you ask in European shops for the good amber leaf you can normally get it for under 20 smackaroos. For joints cig baccy burns a bit too quick/uneven and makes it taste worse so it's always been a bit of a last resort for me. I'll use different baccy if needbe but a lot of the cheaper baccy in shops either tastes like wood or play doh to me 🤣

Hybrid plants of different genetics can display phenotypical dominance in different areas. Cheese could be an almost pure dominant expression of its Afghan parent but that does not mean it doesn’t have Mexican and Colombian parentage too.
The Sativa / Indica thing is a rough concept, helpful but not gospel. Try find a pure Indian landrace that actually has Indica characteristics.
Most of what people know as pure Indicas are from a specific type of Afghan landraces.
Most Afghan landraces display both Indica and Sativa characteristics.

I was curing cheese back in 07 before anyone even thought of making daft labels and logos and packs, before dinafem had probably even heard of cheese lmao. and this was the hardest hittin indica we could get and I still dont know a better one. Purple punch and ice cream cake havent really got nothing on it still. I personally think they havent tested it right because its the hardest hittin couch locking strain that I know to the point where you cant lift your arms. Thats a pure indica to me and thats exactly what cheese does so dont believe everything you read on the internet buddy. Theres no way its a hybrid load of bollacks.

Exodus Cheese is a phenotype of Skunk #1, which is a hybrid, I know this cos my Dad was part of Exodus collective.

Like i said. I feel as though they messed up and didnt test it right. We had one of the first original cheese cuttins years ago back in like 04 and was a hard hittin indica. I honestly believe that its bullshit that its a hybrid. I just know what im talkin here and if you dont understand thats fine. The OG Cheese was taken from cuttings off a Skunk #1 pheno that went mental, stank like nobody's business, and was passed out by the Luton/Exodus Collective to thier followers in the 90s. They gave them out to growers. It was part of the whole "Love Generation" movement. (Mostly fueled by Ecstasy in the late 90s, early 2000s)

They were event organisers, clubbers and DJs, and very fucking good ones, but somehow the OG Cheese got attached to their brand, and in hindsight, made it more popular than the actual events.

People talk a lot of shit about Cheese.

If they don't understand the Exodus/Luton collective link, then they have zero idea.

Coinbase closed my account with no explanation so I started going through paxful to open an account, even before I could make a deposit they said my account had been closed. I tried opening an account with Monzo and they have said they're unable to offer me an account. Have Coinbase somehow put a black mark against my name? All I use crypto for is buying on here 🙄 I currently have uphold and kraken, hopefully these won't be closed 🤞

Hi folks = hope you are all well = Been a while since my last post and still on the hunt for either a hash or a grass that I’m happy with. Not bought any for a while but doing lots of reading of reviews etc etc One thing I wanted to ask = I’m guessing the answer is no but just in case I’ve missed it – is there any way to make the site navigation a bit better? I find there is no clickable list of sellers – every time I hit a back button I lose where I was up to.. Possibly a browser thing (I’m on firefox) or is this just how it is?

On a second ask – I don’t do carts – I just smoke joints and have reasonably high – but not excessive expectations. There’s nothing I’ve picked up on the site yet that I’d feel comfortable recommending to a friend or passing on. I’m not a connoisseur – I’ve usually just smoked what I’ve been offered and I guess I’ve been spoiled as I’ve not found anything on LB close to what I was smoking a year ago - let alone to what I was smoking 10 or 20 years ago.

Recommendations please! Thank you! Good strong pleasant to smoke hash and weed (not shatter or vapes or any other crazy stuff – I’m traditional!)

With the site navigation, i usually open vendors/items in a new tab and then close it when i’m done so that i don’t lose where i was and that helps me out a lot. I think there’s a post somewhere with clickable links to vendors, however, i’m not sure how to find that post.

For the smoke recs – again thank you. I’ll give the SM a try. Motor Breath doesn’t sound like quite my thing (cos of the taste – I like fruit if possible) but I’ll keep an eye on their others.
Gentlemen Dealers – I’d be ok at the oz price on some of them but the 3.5g price puts me off them a bit – and after the experiences I’ve had I would never buy an ounce of something on here without having tried a smaller sample first (I thought I’d found Amsterdam online here when I first got on here but it really hasn’t worked out so far and I’m trying to sort out for a couple of mates as well which is getting a bit messy).
thehashcollective23 – I’d been looking at some of this. Mostly a bit more than I’d hope to pay but the Avocado stamp filtered looks interesting. It would be great to hear from anyone who has tried this. The only things putting me off this are the reviews aren’t going up very fast – and the 41% THC statement – which seems extremely high given the price. 41% THC.. really?
Eddies Hash bar – the bubble hash isn’t for me – but there a few on there I’m interested in – so I’ve just put in an order for 10 small samples. They look all good so I’m very hopeful.. (again!)

I’ve bought the avocado and it’s come today, will review when I try and I’ll post on here to let you know what I think, I’ve not tried eddies hash bar but the stuff looks very good and they’ve always had good reviews, gentlemen had 41 cherriez not too long ago on the 3.5 was honestly worth it was up there with one of best tasting strains I’ve tried perfect for a fruity flavour.

I’d highly recommend gentlemen I’ve ordered twice for bud not got it wrong for me even his cheaper stuff hit I believe it was UK Mai tai tried from him as well.

gentlemen has a lot to choose from so would recommend this vendor for weed trying a 3.5 test

Hash is very nice, very traditional has a nice spicy taste, well worth the price, can’t fault THCs comms and stealth to be honest I would recommend the avocado hash taken into account the price it’s very much worth it

That is very helpful thank you. I may well give the avocado hash a try. I reckon I've tried 20 hash's from probably 5-7 sellers on here now - and there's not been any I'd buy again.. I don't need anything crazy - just something that I don't smoke and then spend 5 mins trying to work out if I can feel the slightest of effects or not which is where I've been with most of them.

Maybe the more expensive fancy stuff is better but the eddies standard stuff didn't do it for me I'm afraid. Hopefully this will be better. I'll try a bit and report back. Thanks again for taking the time!

Hi folks. Is anyone able to help me? I’ve been on the site for about 6 weeks (real world contact passed away recently). I’ve tried a number of items from a couple of sellers. All the items I’ve tried have been from sellers with very high ratings and the items have had loads of positive reviews. While the service (post time stealth etc.) has been great - Every item has been disappointing – with little to no effect. I’ve just smoked a packed J of hash at 8.30am on a Sunday morning and I can barely notice I’ve had a smoke. The experience is repeated across all of the items have bought. Mates have checked it for me and given the same reports. Some have a very mild effect if you pack a J – some aren’t worth smoking – but the descriptions and reviews are saying “knock out” and “high THC” etc which just isn’t my experience. Maybe there is loads of good stuff and I’ve just been unlucky – but if someone could point me towards some hash or weed that does what it says on the tin I’d appreciate it. Thank you!

Many listings on this site are months if not years old for the same strain.

So you can have something with 1000s of reviews, mine included from like a year ago and totally different batches and in some case completely different.

Many 10/10 just for something arriving too.

It definitely took me a couple of buys to find the good stuff. I went for the highly reviewed stuff at first and whilst it was OK. It was no better than low grade street bud. Research is important. Look at the topics. See what people are saying. There is some amazing stuff on here. There is also a lot of average, and some downright shocking.

One of the issues with using carts is that 90%+ THC is going to wreck your taste for weed, that’s kind of inevitable, however-

Sooo this was my first purchase from the spacemen and was part of a big order and she was a standout BEAUTY 😍 should be renamed painkiller kush or something because this one’s a whole medicine cabinet rolled into 1 delightful strain, and i’m loving it so far! 👌😋

I wanted to try a bunch of strains so I messaged TSM and they were super helpful and quick with their responses and kindly sorted out a custom selection box for me that arrived in less than 24 hours from them sending!

This was one of the strains i was really excited to try and it didn’t disappoint! The buds themselves are a bright green, and one of the brightest out of all the strains i got from TSM, and it has some orange pistils throughout and you can see a few dark green hues come through the lovey dusting of trichomes all over 🤤 it’s got some spring to it but still pretty dense to the touch, and it grinds up quite fine, and not that fluffy and you see the bright green really come out in the grinder.

Theres a unique terp profile on this beauty too… it’s got an earthy undertone with some citrus and sweet berry at the top, it’s also got that classic kush twang to it, and you can smell the dank mustiness coming through the sweet notes with a hint of wood n spice in the background. it’s really unique and nice and quite refreshing actually.

Now the effects and high from the PK is where it really shines for me and where it comes into its own! this is straight MEDICINE…

does it help low appetite? ✅
does it help with my anxiety? ✅
does it help with my aches n pains?✅
does it help with stress? ✅

It’s safe to say i’m loving this one atm, it hits you behind the eyes and you instantly feel calm and your whole
body relax, and any stresses, aches n pains quickly fade away. This ones a lovely relaxing full body high that helps me drift off after a long day and actually get a good nights sleep. It’s like being hugged by a blanket of goodness 😌 i’m really enjoying this one in the evenings before bed. Really good if you struggle to sleep or have adhd or any racing thoughts thoughts at night, helps my body n mind calm down and helps me sleep through the night which is a rarity these days 😴💤 If you do make it through an hour without passing out, the munchies settle in and on the couple of times i didn’t ko straight away, i found myself raiding all the snack cupboards in the house! 😂🍫

For all the medicinal tokers, this is the one for you, and the value is incredible as well, it’s not part of the spacemen’s exotics so it’s a bit cheaper than a lot of the other strains up atm.

Overall, i’m loving the pink kush and couldn’t recommend it enough to all my LB kings, queens n everything in betweens.

got a bunch of other strains in as well atm so i might do a big post with a short review of each instead of longer individual ones as i’m mindful of clogging up the topics page with a bunch of posts. But if there’s any that anyone wants a full review on, just let me know and id be happy to put a full one out of any i’ve tried. Yeah i like it a lot mate, i love all the Kushes really but reckon Pink is a bit special, I have been mixing it tonight with some of the White Trufflez TSM had a while back and they are a lovely combo, its the head high the Trufflez has combined with all the good relaxing stuff Pinky is doing i think, I know the Trufflez is not on the menu currently but i reckon maybe the same kind of effect will come from combining the Pink and the Blanco or Ice Cream Mints maybe, both have the same kind of high 20's THC levels as the Trufflez and theyre all indica leaners too, if someone has any of those others and the Pink i think they should try them together... you know, for science 🔬

I’ve mixed the pink kush with motor breath a couple of times and they work really good together for me. Like you said pink kush isn’t the strongest heaviest hitting strain but it just hits the spot for the medicinal reasons, so i like to mix it with a heavy hitter like motor breath before bed and thats been great for me so far :)

I was actually planning on trying the ice cream mints with the pink kush today so i’ll let you know how i get along, also have some blanco left so i’ll give that a go too… all in the name science ofc 🔬🧬

yeah i’m absolutely loving it for the anxiety and sleep atm, I actually mixed it with the motor breath a couple of times and it was sooo good pre bed time, so if you have any of the motor breath left they’re a great mix and compliment each other really nicely :)

I’ve never actually tried making tea with flower before, i thought you might have to decarb it first? And if you are going through the decarbing process it may be easier to make a batch of canna butter or an infused coconut oil or something and then that should last a while and you can use it as and when you need :)

Also would recommend getting some boveda packs for your bud, it’ll sort out any issues with dry bud and brings even the driest flower back to life 😊

Interesting review!

I would also say the bubblegum gelato is also a pretty serious value and great medicine. Not a crazy knock out but if you smoke enough it'll get you there, just super nice relaxation probably great for pain. I've found myself reaching for it over some of the exotics for the medicinal values!

I'm looking to start vaping my weed again I use to about 10 years ago with a flower mate I think and was never a fan of them. Didn't matter what strain I used always tasted like hay. I’m by no means an expert having only really experienced the Mighty by Storz and Bickel, but it was a total game changer. Decent terps/flavour, super economical and way more discreet than the old flame and fire.

I think i’m terms of how stoned you get with a joint vs vaping, it’s kind of like downing pints or having shots vs sipping on your over some time.

With smoking a joint, you’re combusting everything in one go and you’re taking in everything at once, and it’s like downing your drink or having a shot.

with vaping, you take everything in slower and if you’re like me, you temp step up from your lowest temp to your highest temp. With doing that you’re slowing down how much you’re taking in and you get specific terps coming at different temps rather than everything in one go with combusting. Also i use less flower in the vape than a joint so in a joint getting more flower all at once rather than less flower over a session on the vape where you dial in on the terps n temps.

If you’re looking to get blasted off the vape it’s probs best to set it to the highest setting from the beginning and then have a session on it like that, then you’d be getting everything you get from a joint but without combusting.

But i’m no expert in this, i’ve only been vaping since the beginning of Dec, so there might be some inaccuracies in what i’ve said and i’m sure the other biggaz on here can provide a more expert opinion on the vaping 😊

The point about combustion is that of the goodies only THC survives the fire- everything else (CBG, CBN, CBD etc) are destroyed at the point of combustion and replaced with benzene and other carcinogenics. The full spectrum effect is history.

Since CBD naturally calms the effects of THC (in a good way) it will feel like a stronger hit, because it is.

It’s not worth the trade off imo. 🔥=👹

Mate, I’ve had a very similar journey over the last 18 months or so. I used the mighty religiously for like 6 months but then all this lovely hash started appearing on here and the cotton bacon method wasn’t doing it for me. So I returned to the flame and boom, back to the old school. I’m back on the mighty now mainly for health and stench prevention purposes haha.

I 100% hear you, I think there’s probably a bunch of factors. I think the buzz from vaping hits at a different vibe from smoking but it varies quite a bit like. Even cleanliness, when I remember to clean it properly it hits differently afterwards. Temperature too of course, if I find some spare time during the day I like a haze at 180-190, after work it’s 210 all the way.

In a mighty I think it’s .2 in a cap, can’t see the full bowl being much more tbh.

I can do a Henry in a big Bertha joint, but would take me 17.5 kegs on the mighty. If I had the lungs and throat to do it, I’d be on my back 😂

I’ve gone through a load of vapes over the last 10ish years and ive settled on 3 for different purposes in the end… the Mighty for big hits/clouds indoors (and it gets you the most stoned per packed bowl imo), a Pax 2 (still available and cheaper than the newer models but just as efficient) for out and about and ease of use (it doesn’t quite hit as hard as the mighty but it’s fine) and a Dynavap for full flavour smaller hits (if I want to get proper baked with the Dyna, I just pack a few more bowls).
I kinda agree with the other poster who said that they found vaping didn’t get them as high, but I found that you can fix that by taking a reasonable t-break before going over to the vape, or just having a longer vape session…

I started dry herb vaping a couple of months ago and I ended up getting the nectar hex which has been great so far.

If there aren’t any budgetary constraints, the mighty+ and the tiny might 2 are probably the best dry herb vapes around, but ofc they come with a hefty price tag.

Going down a price tier, the crafty+, nectar hex, arizer air max, arizer solo 2, pax 3 are all good options.

For a budget option maybe the xmas v3 pro would be of interest to you.

It’s probably easier to think about the features you’d like and that are most important to you and then you can cross reference that with all the vapes. Things like price, do you want convection or conduction, do you need it to be portable/discreet, do you need usb c charging, do you want a removable and changeable battery, do you want to be able to set the exact temp or do you want something that has built in heat settings. Think it’ll be easier for you to decide what’s best when you know what kind of things you’d prefer and what features are important to you :)

So I can't review..

I would very much recommend downloading and sending it to an anonymous BTC wallet such as Electrum after buying on a site/app such as Kraken or Crypto(I personally use this app) as you run the risk of getting royally fucked by HMRC for having "crypto assets" that you haven't paid tax on if you do it directly. Just be careful!

Most of them, I keep missing Sassy Buds cos it’s gone in the blink of an eye! Always good and always honest to the descriptions. These guys are enthusiasts who know exactly what they are doing. I hope I'm posting this somewhere biggas and admins will see it, and that it's okay to do so. This is merely to bring people's opinions to light on how to make Little Biggy as good as it can be. Hopefully admins will agree to some of this and implement it, but it's of course entirely up to them.

What ideas do you have to improve LB?
For me I would love to see:

▪︎Faster payouts for vendors:
Without knowing what it costs to run the site, I do think the fees paid per sale should be able to cover some haste with the blockchain.

▪︎Stock counter:
There has been a lot problems with substituted items here lately, this could be avoided with a stock counter so a vendor doesn't sell something they don't actually possess. If a vendor could just enter how many grams (s)he has available, it could automatically pause the listing when it's sold out. It could be used for specific options on listings too, like samples/intro offers.
It doesn't need to be public information, but the system would know.

▪︎Clearer rules:
Would be nice to know what's allowed on the site, and if it's society only, and maybe an educated update to what's allowed. If it's purely based on harm potential, then there are other substances that fit the description, and drug class.
The only rules you're presented with upon registration is "do as you please but don't harm others," but there's obviously more to it than that.

▪︎More filters and sort by options:
Would make it much more intuitive to navigate listings, especially for new users who don't know what there is on LB instead of browsing through 700+ listings. The keyword feature is great, but as a newbie you might not even know what to search for.

▪︎The topics page:
Could do with a revamp with categories and a search bar. Sadly, more gold is claimed by the depths here than in the Golden Age of Piracy.

▪︎A gifting system:
This would be a minor feature that would bring more interaction to LB. An option to order from a vendor and transfer said order to another user for them to fill out their address and such privately. There are many friendships on here, and many friends like to give gifts to other friends but remain anonymous. You never know when it's the long arm with a long con.

▪︎Dark mode:
I'm a bit of a night owl and I know many other biggas are too. Won't somebody please think of our eyes?

▪︎Timestamps.

The one I think a lot of us on the buy and sales side will agree with is the need to adopt payment methods beyond Bitcoin. There are so many better options I’m not going to list them all, but at least one other option would help when the blockchain congestion forces up the network fees. Surely that slows sales on here so it’s in everyone’s interests.

Yeah, LB looks like a RuneScape forum from 2004 to be honest. I'm sure someone able would provide a UI for free at this point.

I've also dabbled in the odd market and there is some strong competition out there, but I prefer to shop on LB actually.
Great weed, great community, and honestly better prices than I'm used to.
I also have a tech savvy friend who moans about the Bitcoin thing. Well, he's into the whole tails thing so BTC defeats the purpose a bit.

I agree with all your points, and if anyone's wondering what I want for Christmas this year it's that all our wishes come true. I do really love LB, the trusty ol' clunker. Cheers for the input mate.

I’m quite new here and found it a bit confusing to navigate at first but now i’ve got the hang of it, it’s a lot easier.
in terms of improvements, I think having multiple payout options instead of just BTC would be great. I also think keyword search should be expanded to all sections of the site instead of just in items, so it would be in topics and people as well. Maybe even having a vendor list that has vendors categorised or ranked based on sales, so you can see who the top vendors are and who the new ones are.
I also think we should be able to bookmark or ‘subscribe’ to vendors and biggaz so that on our profiles we see updates from the vendors and people we like and trust so that we don’t miss out on new items and posts.
I also think it would be great to have a more organised topics section and maybe have some more categories that are easily accessible. I love how there are already pages for ‘buy help’ and ‘wanted items’ but i think it would be great to have more of these and also have them easier to find and be able to save them as well as i found it quite difficult to find the ones i was looking for to begin with. I also think having each post dated would help massively as well as i often find myself going through something that was months old and didn’t realise.
that’s just my 2 cents on LB, but honestly since finding this community and page a couple months ago, it has been amazing and i can honestly say it’s changed my life already, and it’s the only online community i am happily a part of.

As for faster payments we already have a crypto that is cheaper, faster, greener than bitcoin and has also been through court and been cleared as a security... XRP it would improve everything to just switch to this token instead as it does everything better.

So here I am waiting my 1st order from lb sent by Green Avenger.. I've been so excited/nervous/happy/everything checking the tracking every few hours since it was sent yesterday afternoon.
Now it's at the local district post office and hopefully in my pipe within 4 hours.
OTT you say? Not when I've toked pretty much every day for 35years and have been without for the last 5 days.. things have certainly changed scoring wise while I've been in Thailand for 20 years. :-)

Hi mate, you picked the best vendor for your first purchase. I would discard the advice given to use vendors who don't use SNDD. I've been on here years, purchased hundreds of times and the worst thing is waiting for a parcel and not knowing where it is. It's stress and anxiety inducing.

Stick with green avenger weed and maybe try out a few others who offer SNDD with tracking provided like the pontiff of piff. You're guaranteed to get it next day, unlike several other big vendors who will gas light you for having the audacity to ask where your parcel is after 3 days. Again, I'll get hate for this but do not use vendors who don't offer tracking numbers. It's just not worth the stress.

Quick note generally it would be recommended not to track your package unless you need to. You've got a digital footprint there and will reduce any plausible deniabllity in the case of any issues.

You should check out 'Threads' a UK TV movie from the mid 80's. The effects are wonky by todays standards but it's still chilling as hell. Fail Safe and Forbin: The Colossus Project are also still scary.
Children of Men is my favourite film of all time. A flawless masterpiece with great characters and so plausible.

"Apocalypse Now" fits into the category I think, if you haven't seen it - do so asap.

Apocalypse now is one of my favourite films. Have you seen the redux version. It’s a directors cut and is so worth it. It is loosely based on the book Heart of darkness by Joseph Conrad which is a good read if you enjoy the film. Brando is the man. A hell of a lot of his part is improvised. Genius

Children of men is also one of my all time favourites, very moving film that scarily looks like the not too distant future.

Children of Men: that is my fav film ever, I remmeber when I first watched it I was so moved I was in tears. Usually love movies but never get emotional, Children of Men however got me. "Strawberry Cough". 28 Days Later, one of Danny Boyles movies.
Other good movies: Train to Busan, The Road, Cloverfield, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Shaun of The Dead, Sunshine (about a space crew in the future trying to stop an impending apocalypse as the sun is dying), Independence Day. That's what I can think of so far, but amazing shout on Children of Men, a lot of people I know have never seen Children of Men, it's a very underrated film.

He’s none at the moment but I’m sure he will have some shortly but I have had nothing in the price range of British bulldogs trim.

Bang for buck this can not be beaten and don’t let the fact that it’s called trim put you off. I had quite a few little nugs of joy. Each time I’ve used him.

Weed with extracts is always a good idea but mixing in sticky concentrates to make a ‘Roulade’ (my take!) is a bloody great one!

The ‘Dream Wedding’ Roulade:

Ingredients:
Wedding Cake by Druids Magic
Blue Dream Caviar from Canadian Imports

Method:
Grind weed and use a dab tool to spoon caviar on top. Use fingers to work into the weed until covered (weed will prevent fingers getting too sticky), and compress into a cake (roulade!)

Load roulade into a dosing capsule and bake @ 195c for 2+2 minutes.

Inhale deeply and say “I DO!”

Terp Bomb!

Big hitting rolling euphoria will ensue heading moonwards and the most tremendous sense of well being…just fabulous..

Don't usually post topics but these guys impress me everytime, high mars and future island strains are the latest offerings from druids magic. Its always something special, grown by masters and served up with excellent customer service. I've only tried the high mars so far and its a lovely balanced high, but both impress as soon as the package is cracked the smell that hits you puts a grin on your face from ear to ear and you know it's gonna be good, sometimes I get the heart flutters with sativa dominant strains but this is a perfectly balanced high for an evening after work. Buds aren't dense nuggets but that's not a problem, covered in crystals grinds up well and smokes like a dream smooth and tasty. Stealth up there with the best on lb and comms are a pleasure like talking to your mate you've known for ages. Cheers DM.

Can honestly say this is the first time I've been refreshing a web page at midnight for a weed drop lol. Felt like I was hunting early topshot pack drops again (iykyk).

Budget already tapped out this month but, having gotten to know this forum a bit, the names I saw excited for this drop meant fuck it - budget stretched to fit in a 3.5g of each. Can't wait for it to land, particularly looking forward to the Future Island.

Also their comms are amazing. Their warmth and genuine excitement/nerves for people to try their small batches is lovable.

Not sure where to start with this one as there are so many positives to mention. The service is second to none, replies quick, sends quick, stealth on point and generally just a nice vendor to deal with. Now the bud, not sure what they do different but I've tried most vendors on here and Sassy in my opinion has the tastiest, cleanest and just the nicest bud I've come across. The eleven roses is fruity, a bit sour and a bit savory. Really clean bud and the flavours are fantastic in the vape. But what impressed me the most on this one was the effect, it's the first bud in a while that made me smile, it doesn't have any of the usual sativa anxiety I would get with any uplifting strains, it's like a warm blanket but just makes you happy, very nice indeed.
Also had a sample of the lord kush, this one's stronger, has the kush smell and taste to me but with an added depth to it, each drag on the joint just bursts with flavour I would only usually get in a vape, hits hard and I have a high tolerance so be warned 😂.

Overall amazing products and vendor, something I would love to see more of on LB rather than the usual resellers that keep popping up.

I see most of the items have special next day delivery which is great but usually requires a signature on arrival and I won’t be available during the day, is there a standard delivery option or one that won’t require a signature when delivered? Hey, you select your shipping once its in your cart, most vendors state their shipping options at the top of their page in the Manifesto.

Its a bit like the wild west here at the minute so make sure youre using a VPN and read plenty of reviews to make sure youre using a trusted vendor.

I don't know about weed but I've thought watching something is a bit of a waste of the experience while tripping, given the potential of the stuff. But I'm now thinking, reading those posts, it would probably be really excellent to watch something you really love through a really..alternate🤡 lens, haha. I would be pushed to choose between- Spirited away, Howls moving castle, Stardust, Labyrinth, Coraline and Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind.

I love watching detectorists at the end of a trip. Beautiful scences of nature to look at even though it's bed time. Sweet and gentle come down 🌱💚
