Hey mate. I use Bitpanda as an alternative to Coinbase if the fees are too high on there. Deposit straight from your bank and then buy Bitcoin. If you use the Exodus wallet I believe you can buy Bitcoin there too, although I have never tried.

I buy BTC on Bittylicious via bank tr@nsfer (you have to sign up and get verified first), and then send to an anonymous free Exodus wallet and use that to pay on LB. (don't think Bittylicious is the cheapest option but I've always found this method to be quick and easy, with no issue with bank blocks etc - and I'm a complete novice with crypto)

Gives you an extra layer of protection as well by sending via Exodus.

Oh and I remember someone else mentioning that Kraken was the cheapest platform btw (I've never used it). There are lots of other methods too I'm sure, I just know almost nothing else about BTC so I've stuck to what someone else recommended on here and that worked for me :)

I'm not sure but I think I got that message too - it's probably just a capacity/demand thing, they prob need a human to sign off on it. I seem to remember they said it can take up to 24hrs.

hey mate, yeah you put the address of your Exodus etc wallet (you can get the wallet address under the Receive tab of your wallet). And then buy BTC. Just remember to buy slightly more Bitcoin than you need for the transaction as it'll also cost something to send money from the wallet to LB (it used to be like $1-2 but it's been fluctuating a lot and higher recently - currently it's at $7 or so on Exodus).

With all these fees, I've found the best way is to (when you can), buy larger amounts or pay for multiple transactions at once. Cos the fees (I think) are almost the same whether you get £40 of Bitcoin or £300. And you can group transactions even across vendors on LB - then you're only paying one fee for all of them.

I would very much recommend downloading and sending it to an anonymous BTC wallet such as Electrum after buying on a site/app such as Kraken or Crypto(I personally use this app) as you run the risk of getting royally fucked by HMRC for having "crypto assets" that you haven't paid tax on if you do it directly. Just be careful!

My understanding is that the grassing to HMRC point for them is £10k? Can't find that specifically stated anywhere though, but it's a figure I have in my head for some reason. They're a fucking nightmare to deal with, even when you get a decent accountant with a phone line to them involved.
