Cowboy Bebop is amazing, beautifully written, drawn, and directed. Don't be turned off by the 1st episode which isn't very sci fi and more like film noir cliche stuff. The future world unfolds over the episodes along with the back story of how it evolved though another great thing is each episode stands independently.

What is the best Science Fiction Anime Series?
There is supposed to be a live action movie coming out at some point in the future. I thought there would be a third season but l guess l am wrong.
Steins gate is class. Time travel sci fi. Bit of a slow burner but get past the first two episodes itโs quality on Netflix as well.
Steins;Gate is brilliant. Some unique characterisations and a great, but inevitably confusing, take on the time travel concept with a ton of real world references and conspiracies. Solid choice. However, I highly recommend this viewing order: Steins;Gate episodes 01-22 then episode 23β (alternate version of 23), Steins;Gate 0 episodes 01-23 (you can watch somewhere online or on Crunchyroll) then original Steins;Gate series episodes 23-24. Sounds confusing lol but honestly this is the best way to experience the story.
Finished kaiba the other night from this recommendation. Thought it was class, trippy as fuck.
I love the premise here with the mind-body interchange but its really hard for me to get past the drawing. It seems more like something out of Spain in the 1930s than Anime.
Don’t know if this is a mad suggestion or if literally everybody has seen it. But the Animatrix ?
9 (I think) half an hour animated films set within The Matrix universe. All are interesting and well animated, but a few are stellar.
There’s one created by Shinichiro Watanabe, of cowboy beebop and samurai champloo (my personal favourite).
If you haven’t seen it, buy the dvd and watch it; if you have seen it, back me up!
Peace

back that matrix up, it's awesome.
the back and forth between ghost in the shell and the matrix gets its best iteration right here.

Terraformars (ใใฉใใฉใผใใผ, Terafลmฤ) are evolved humanoid cockroaches who live on Mars. They possess physical traits and skills that greatly surpass those of normal humans. They also appear to be somewhat intelligent and have a natural hatred for humans; much like how humans hate cockroaches.

not sure it qualifies as science fiction - but! try to watch it when high when high.
DOROHEDORO
i'd love to hear from you when you do.

Dorohedoro is fucking class. Watched the first season twice (high) then read the entire manga.
serial experiment lain!!!, a bit old but still ahead of most anime... and I mean, Evangelion, if you have not seen it!
Was about to say this, superb Anime!!
Also, an oldie but a classic is "The guyver" bio booster armour!!!

Absolutely epic, then when you finished hit up mutronics and guyver: dark hero with mark Hamill ๐๐

Deathnote was good, so was One Punch Man. Terror in Residence was really good too. And I quite liked Knights of Sidonia. Or just watch Akira and Ghost in the Shell and be done with it :)
Thanks for the tip. It should be cool just based on the fact that he did Samurai Jack. And Ive found out a movie version was made and even submitted to oscars (fck oscars tho!).. Nice!!
Sci fi anime faves:
Noein (short series based on quantum physics theory),
Gintama (comedy anime partly set in space),
Ergo proxy (short dystopian series in futuristic world),
Inuyashiki (Old man becomes a weaponized cyborg and you follow his story),
Parasyte (High school kid gets infected by an alien parasyte),
And last but not least!
Psycho pass, it has 3 seasons and about 5 movies on the same world. A world which is monitored by an expert crime a.i. program, people get a hue which shows how likely to commit crime you will be, it's hard to explain but definitely my favourite sci fi series for a while.

Edens Zero is a new series if you want somthing light hearted and not too heavy ... if you want heavy watch Gantz, Straight jacket, Karas ect.... Brynhildr in the Darkness is not bad ether has a sci-fi take on witches being aliens..
Trigun was one of my favourite highly recommended it. The 7 deadly sins is pretty cool.
Terra formars is one of my all time favorites, parasyte is great but more body horror than sci fi
Think someone has mentioned all of these, but still
gurren lagann, Evangelion, Cowboy bebop, Space Dandy, Legend of the galactic heroes are some of the heavy hitters that everyone should see
Planetes is lesser known and quite low stakes but really good show about a crew who live on a satellite and have to collect trash from earth's orbit
Kaiba is great if you can stomach the art-style and are high enough to understand what's going on

Steins Gate has to be number 1 itโs one of the best anime's even outside of just the sci fi category, I highly recommend it, it has really interesting plot-lines about time-travel. Parasyte is also another great watch along with cowboy bebop a classic futuristic western like show.
Cowboy Bebop. No qualifying statement required. It's a timeless classic. I wish I could see it for the first time again
Space dandy. Some really good episodes to watch stoned especially the first few.
Love death robots good shout.
Saiki k. Didn't watch stoned but really enjoyed it, might give it another look myself.
Non SciFi recommendation would be Kakegurui, if you haven't watched it watch it stoned it's really good. It's about gambling and girls that leak a lot of fluid.
Also 'close enough' is quite good to watch stoned from the makers of the regular show but for adults.
All should be on Netflix.

Castlevania on Netflix is awesome! Not really sci-fi but the art style is great and a nice spin on an old tale. I binge watched 3 seasons in like 3days lol
I am going to give a quirky suggestion and say Boogiepop Phantom. Otherwise, Cowboy Bebop.
(But once you are done with Cowboy Bebop, watch Samurai Champloo. It is Cowboy Bebop set in feudal Japan).

Resurrecting the Dead From Outer Space
Hate it when that happens :)
Youre surely a bigga I'd like to smoke with
Resurrecting the Dead From Outer Space
Nikolai Federov founded Russian Cosmism, a philosophy based not only on the quest for immortality but also a resurrection of the dead by harvesting their particles from space.
if you are happy with a transporter room kind of version then sure, but did we tell you about your premium storage options?
Great idea. Better stay away from singularities (black holes) though. Small matter of your residual info on the event horizon sputtering away like radio static thanks to Hawking radiation.
If this is possible then it's the kind of thing another intelligence may come up with already. Maybe we are part of such a process ...

You know this isnt totally crazy, the cost of putting a head into space is coming down and then the cold storage is free for a real long time.

My postman is obviously a stoner, just the way he carries the back all slung back on his shoulder gives it away but he also looks like Wayne (or Garth I can't remember which one is which). I keep thinking I should offer him a bowl of the good shit but he delivers so much weed to me I think I'd be putting him in a bad position.
You got me.

Fake weed forum....... bring back the old suppliers. Suppliers these days are all crooks.... firstly they get bulk of weed then put it in a tumbler and shake it to take the crystals off the bud so they can make there pillen and dope then the weed gets sprayed with terps to give the buds a flavour again. This is why the dope is dearer than the weed... absolute scams going on here. People need to wake up and start refusing this poison on here these days. There is a handful of sellers that are legit but 95% on here is selling fake thc grass... all its doing is making people sick

I'm not sure trying to peg any organisation as objectively good or bad is possible, but also fuck the Catholic Church and all they are.
I was raised catholic and this is seriously the best joke Iโve read on this site lmao
Mass murder; centuries of child abuse, financial manipulation of countries and its peoples, stifling science for centuries, masses of lies and corruption, manipulating the world, controlling the weak minded, instilling a ridiculous morality onto its followers that only incites hatred and misery
The catholic churuch is just the greatest group of criminals to ever exist
God Iโm so proud to be catholic ๐

You forgot to include wealthiest, if the Roman Catholic Church realised all it's assets then they could probably eradicate world poverty in a year
All Abrahamic religions are backwards and immoral, imo.
Christian god Genocided the whole planet to prove a point, and the Muslim Prophet, well, look up the age of Aisha when he married her.
We no longer need religion, its just a tool to distract and divide people.

I don't think I've ever heard or seen Widdicombe and not immediately wanted to scrape my eyes out and shove dynamite in my ears.
What a horrificly horrible and hateful person she is. Eugh

I don't like Anne Widdecombe at all, but from what I remember from this debate (I watched it a few years ago) she switched from Christianity to Catholoisim because of the amount of hypocrisy in the C of E.
Now don't even get me started on the hypocrisy in the Catholic Church, but I must admit I do somewhat sympathise with the point she was making.
You can't have a religion based upon a book that says "we don't agree with homosexuality" then just ignore that view because it's no longer popular.
It's like the Christian Church is now willing to ignore any of its doctrines just to remain "relevant", and get some likes on Twitter.
If you're going to be a bigoted religion, at least own it.
I'm not really into arguing about religion or politics, and I'm neither religious nor particularly political, but I do have to admit a begrudging respect for any religion that at least sticks by it's dogmatic roots, however ridiculous those roots are.
That's pretty much all I got from Widdicombe that was worth thinking about.
The rest of her nonsense....isn't worth anyone's time.
Cheers BB ๐๐๐ป

All versions of Christianity ignore some parts of the bible because it's not popular. The Bible says not to wear two different types of fabric at once, and to sell your daughter to her rapist, but no Christians are abiding by that. They are all as bad as each other, to pretend like she's calling out hypocrisy by changing from one hateful religion to another is so deceitful, another part of the reason she is scum.
Religion is very personal but by becoming personal it looses its meaning of existence. Therefore a stepping stone into realisation of God.
Being personal means one aspect is more influential than the rest
In reality religion has become part of a lazy answer for our insecurities that comes from the limitation of existence. Allowing us to put a bandage and peek at it every Christmas/Sundays for Christians or Ramadan/Fridays for Muslims or Hannaka/(Not sure which day of the week is specual fro them)....So we dont really have to investigate into our existence.....My POV...so only an opinion๐

Dunno if you ever saw her debating with Stephen Fry and I think Chris Hitchins or possibly Jordan Peterson at Oxford? Between them they gave her the best fucking she's ever had
Already seen this you don't want to know my take as a Satanic/pagan Witch/warlock ... But i agree with stephen about most things. The part i can't stomach is that The church brag (Or used to) about their il educated followers from africa.. one reason why i returned to the ways of my old english ancestors.. in all things balance and respect for nature and our home.. Ave Lucifer the light bringer and Giver of knowlage .. Ave lilith mother of all witches and reflection of the black sun.

Is spelling and grammar not a part of "wisdom and knowledge?" (or knowlage)

There's nothing wrong with having limited spelling and grammar buddy, but I struggle to understand why you would come on here claiming "wisdom and knowledge" given to you by some dark force when you can't even spell the words properly....
I know nothing about open heart surgery, so I'm not going to claim I have "specialism in the field" when it's very clear I don't.
Wisdom has nothing to do with education, but to claim you have wisdom AND knowledge, because you worship the devil...
Yet you can't even spell 'knowledge'...
Sorry. But that needed to be called out.
Spelling and grammar are nothing. Manners maketh the man.
All the best and like I say, each to their own just please don't claim to have superiority in wisdom and knowledge by worshiping anyone, least of all the devil and witches.
Cheers BB

i don't worship any deity i work with them and i never claimed they gave me anything. the last part of what i said was just Veting or honouring the witch king and queen ( the male and female aspects of nature) i never claimed anything...

same G we are not perfect only human after all eh ? :) And i will, I feel what ever faith or not anyone follows if it makes them a better person it can only be a good thing right ? ... i just feel some where along the path people started to use it for control and not to help and heal..
laugh all you like but the basic philosophy of jesus is love and that is exactly what the world needs.
Yet his loudest followers scream at women at abortion clinics, promote violence towards gay people and basically act like 15th century bigots with torches
Doesnโt sound very loving to me, sounds more like a relationship with Ike Turner
Jesus spoke beautiful words but theyโve been twisted and manipulated to spread hate not love by the loudest โbelieversโ as evidenced in every evil act done in the name of Jesus or Christianity
Iโm gonna stick to worshipping the truest deity known to man- our lady and saviour MARY JANE ๐คฃ

Let's have a look at bit of history:
1) Reconquista of Spain - overcame the previous more liberal Islamic Al-Andalus. Explusion of Jews & Muslims
2) The cultural rape of the Americas - effectively extinguishing the native way of life
3) All of those European wars which were pretty much Catholics vs Prods (Prods as bad as Catholics in this case)
4) More recently - at a time of AIDs and other STDs saying use of condoms 'evil'.
5) Messing up the psyche of its followers by seeing sex as dirty
6) A great place to work as a preist if you don't like adult women and prefer to have sex with under age boys and girls.

If I were a smart man Iโd have worded my reply this well haha
Love use of such modern issues caused by the church, generally people seem to think the evil theyโve done is centuries ago, but thereโs so much in modern history; in living memory that prevents catholism from ever being objectively โgoodโ

The D-Notice: A Very British Way Of Censoring The Press
"a very British form of censorship on the press. It decides which subjects and events can be reported on, and how, in a chivalrous yet fundamentally dishonest manner."

Used regularly whenever information could damage establishment.
Remember there was a channel 4 news editor tweeted about a D Notice on the name of the mi6 handler responsible for Sergei Skripal and his lovely daughter Yulia before the strange poisoning event in Salisbury.
Freedom of the Press is an illusion that has fooled the masses. As banks have done with money.

That parrowdice album is absolutely timeless never get bored of listening to it, pound sterling use to like some of his stuff from back in the day? Can you remember channel u, that was on sky, had all the upcoming young english talent, use to watch religiously, use to have some mad guys on there!!!!
Great shout there - were you also a Yungun fan? He’s back with new stuff under ‘Essa’ - still awesome! Also used to bang Universal Soldiers every single day - going to put it on now in fact, happy Friday all!
Yungun! Yeah man, he had a phat album with Mr Thing called GMB (grown man business) and he got a song on there called 'peter pan syndrome' which actually makes my heart bleed.... that dude is an entertainment lawyer now!
Top album!! Yeah man that’s crazy isn’t it!! Wiccaman theory by Chester P used to get me like that! The ten pound bag mixtapes were brilliant too. Loving this thread, now reminded me of how much I love Dabbla and LDZ, having a great day :D
Ten pound baaaaagggg...oh my days... the problem with smoking so much weed is I forget too much music lol...damn, louis slipperz on the mix...some of the beats of those were mind-wreckingly phat...man, I got to dig those out...yeah, loving this thread too man, nice to know I'm not the only one still rocking out Taskforce and Skinnyman and shit...oh shit...Sway...remember that cat? He did the tune over the car racing tune..ah shit...memory lol...I know the one, think it was called 'up your speed', so many bangers lost to the pit of my weeded memory lol...
Hahaha mate 100% the same!! Weeded memory sucks!! Yeah I’d completely forgotten about Sway! Flo’ Fashion was an absolute banger as well!!
Anything off that album was fantastic.
Download still cracks me up when he's talking about going to an Internet cafe to find a man named kazaa haha.

Agree with pretty much all of the below suggestions.
Recently found this banger by Kano, D double E and Ghetts.... Such a tune, such great energy... Real uk OG's. Kano's got the longevity
... enjoy ...

Kano is tremendous live too. And so is d double e....ghetts is passable but compared to the other 2 he falls short in my eyes. I've seen all 3 of them perform multiple times
Didn’t even need to play this via link got this one backed up on the old I tunes... Badabapbap!!! Big tune
Akala for the win. Definitely NOT Skinnyman... Although I did like Council Estate of Mind.
OLDsKoOl... Return of the drifter was an epic album.. still gets alot of play in my dojo lol! How could we forget Jehst!
You like braintax too?

Every Thursday at 7pm we should all go outside and start shouting "can't take no more of that"
That black cunt outta stokie, banana mango munching monkey, ill kick off ya door like jumanji!!! Hahahaha that guy!!!
Fliptrix, Chester P, Akala, Lowkey and skinny man... Can't really claim one is better than the other, they have all reached maxed skill in their unique styles
Glad to see someone get fliptrix in there. Saw him and skinny man live at subterranea just before lockdiwn and its unreal how much stage presence fliptrix has...and he's a fucking giant lol
I'm younger than some on this thread so don't know too many old school UK rappers. Mainly like old American rappers/mcs from the 90s, but would also give a vote to skinny man. Council Estate of mind is one my favourite albums of all time and its criminal he's not better known (In the mainstream).
If we're talking about modern day.. casisdead is currently the best in the scene/UK in my opinion, bar none. Can't wait for his new album to drop.

Def a personal favourite. Don’t think he’s made an average album and seen him live a couple times and never disappointed.
As much as I properly love late 90s/early 200s UKHH, I have to say that Dabbla is right up there for me.
LDZ, Dead Players, his stuff on HF, and his solo albums on Potent Funk, he's kept it fresh, pushed hard and spits like nobody else. His wordplay is incredible.

Hmmmm, Good question man, Jehst is up there for me.. But, with the new school vibes of like Ocean Wisdom, Verb-T. I’m not sure anymore :)
Top reply that! Early Jehst is hard to beat in my book! Chester P also up there - more recently loving Lee Scott (by no means would class him as UKs greatest but he’s a personal fav of mine :)
Chester P is also a bloody lovely bloke to boot. A carer these days and seems.to have his head properly screwed on
Chester P for mayor!!
Ches is a fucking dude...he dropped one of the hottest 'fire in the street' freestyles ever...dude is deep as fuck, massive respect for him.

ches don't like MF doom he says hes a traitor to the uk scene but MF's perants moved to the US he had no choice and i just think ches is bitter and jelouse he never got what MF doom did ..
Ocean wisdom I think has one of the best flows in the UK scene Verb-T perfect for a heavy zoot and a relax
Silver Bullet, hands down is the best UK rapper (really showing my age). 20 Seconds was good but 'Bring forth the Guillotine' is a classic.
Some greats already mentioned! but Dizzie rascal has to be in there for me! . Stefflon don , Jaykae and Bugzy Malone have some tunes too. Could be cheating but 21 savage as well I’m sure I saw he was from Newham originally?
I think he is you know!!! Who was the the other mc how was orginally in the newham generals, cant remember his name to stoned!!! Haha, ive even seen him live aswell at show at london dungeons, my mate won vip ticketsto see them and dizzee and jammer!!! Only 200 people whata fucking night that was!!! Still cant remeber his name!!! Haha
Bullet from a guuuuuuunnnnn!!! Derek B was the fucking man, he must have been one of my first UK hip hop heroes! Ahhh, this brings back memories..who remembers Normski?! Cannot for the life of me remember the show he had on tv for a while but I fucking loved it...
Ooooh, that rings a bell...really can't pull it out of my brain, Normski was the presenter and it was literally the only thing on tv that had any flavour at all, was late on a Friday night iirc
Showing my age ( and probably giving away that I’m more of a guitar guy ) but The Streets first album is awesome
I think for me it’s Potter Payper if you want that real rap but grime wise I’m going to say Ghetts.
All completely subjective but
Kano is my all-time favourite.
Boy in da corner was a groundbreaking album, and has stood the test of time (still sounds amazing to this day) so Dizzee has to have a place on the UK rap Mount Rushmore.
Also high ratings and much love for Klashnekoff, JME, Sway, Devlin, and Roots Manuva.

It’s gotta be Skepta or Dizzee man!
Nothing touches Konichiwa, Boy in da corner or Showtime.. nothing!

For skill, Harry shotta. Me personally. Then Kalashnekov dizzee and the streets. A grand don’t come for free was a masterpiece
GHETTS' LATEST ALBUM SERIOUSLY MAKING ME CONSIDER HIM THE UK GOAT
HIM AND KANO ARE PROBABLY THE BEST DUO THIS COUNTRY EVERY PRODUCED

JME all day. Showing my age now.
Rating Ocean Wisdom atm tho
Far too many good ones to list on here tho.

So many to choose from such as Ghetto but I'm gonna have to go for his old mate Kano. Special place in my heart for that donny.
I get what you mean I'm mainly on about his first shit after that he got annoying as fuck when he switched his style tbh lol
It’s all a bit mid 2000s Roll Deep etc. Good proving grounds for the future, some good MCs came out of it, but in itself it’s pretty shit. I mean compare that to some Wu Tang shit, which I guess would be the New York streets equivalent 15 years earlier... doesn’t even compare.
Not the most original post, but if what I read on the internet it true, then I would say MF DOOM, (apparently born in London).
To be honest, there isn't one, it's so hard to choose just one when there's so much talent out there.
I know he doesn’t rap anymore, but Plan B in his prime was exceptional. The Paint it Blacker Mixtape is one of my all time favourites
Not a fan of him as a person but Slowthai has been doing some really good stuff for a while now deserves a mention. Loyle Carner also I think Lyrically is very nice
There are plenty contenders, but considering quality of his music, duration of career, significance/legacy etc, I think you need to go a long way to better Kano as one of the greats in the UK.
Lowkey, songs banned in USA raided by mi5 no one can match his word play only guy to do chip in a beef. Too real too intelligent.
Dutty goodz is the king for me, chester p, lowkey, akala are also faves, and ocean wisdom for technicality, not so keen on his content but he's got very diverse flows and spot-on delivery.
Not saying he's the best but he defo up there can't believe no one shouted out MR Traumatik, he's a fucking savage ๐
elder; crazy t, wiley, killa p, flowdan, riko dan, trim, dizzee, tempz
younger; kyeza, rocks foe, faultsz, K9, mez, saint p
stress on kyeza and rocks foe

A Cryptographer's Moral Responsibility
An academic cryptographer says scientists and engineer's must protect people from surveillance.
This guy actually compares the situation to the moral responsibility of nuclear scientists in the 1940s. I think this isn't quite a parallel not so much because of the stakes but because he is asking people to go beyond their jobs and become activists where as the 1940s guys (including Einstein) were petitioning existing leaders.
0
Those 40s scientists were up against something inevitable so they could only stall things a bit, this lot can actually enable.
It's not much of a moral responsibility, and it shouldn't be. People don't become these roles just to protect people from the government. It's rather inevitable that we'll never achieve full privacy.

I get dumb sizing on several pages using a galaxy edge 5
Using a pixel 3xl with chrome browser and everything seems fine to me. Although it can take a while to load pages at certain times.
I agree with the incredibly slow loading times. I've noticed it's typically on vendors pages who have alot of threads / topics to load. If you go to a newer vendor, or someone with not many threads / comments, it seems to load fine ( in my experience ).
I wonder if there's a way LB can limit the amount of threads that have to load when you first view a vendors page? And maybe add a "see more" option at the bottom to look further if you wish. But loading EVERYTHING they have ever posted seems to be the main cause of the slow loading times for me (I'm using a new android device so it's unlikely a hardware issue)

Mines acting up at the moment things are really slow, Im getting restricted pages and can't send a message without it crashing on me
Everytime I go to send a message to drugs Inc. My page freezes and crashes. I was wondering if it was a known problem
Yeah I've noticed a big slowdown the past week or so. Some pages and topics won't even open and just crash the site if I try. Hard to engage with the community at the moment because of it.
i have a problem on text input for example this post, when the text box opens the way the page then zooms is a freak show, and the auto correction does not work maybe its the way its defined in the code. i'd be happy to contribute to the bounty if anyone fixes this.
This happens to me with text input but only when leaving reviews. I'm able to write this post just fine on chrome for android but I have to write reviews in my notes app and copy paste them.

What Would Aaron Do?
yes a revolution centered on money is going to be hard to keep in the people's hands
What Would Aaron Do?
I just learned about his story and it got me thinking about what he might do today?
I think he would still be fighting for net neutrality and advocating for internet privacy. He probably would have created many more awesome tools and projects that would have benefited us all. He had already achieved so much before the age of 26 so I can only imagine the great things he had planned...
Terrific question, he surely would be into crypto, which could use a voice like his instead of the fintech grubbers we have.
i think aaron could have stayed right on the cause he died for: human rights to medical information. it's a simple truth now: process medical data and save lives.
today aaron could unlock the data that has been retrieved from all of us by villains worse than than he ever faced.
he was also a talented programmer and could likely help build the ai that can process this data for the benefit of mankind. it's a situation that begs for the open source spirit aaron encapsulated.

will the chinese gov say sorry?
no conspiracy theory here looking at this as an accident what kind of a person wouldn't show some remorse?
World events do not occur by accident. They are made to happen, whether it is to do with national issues or commerce; and most of them are staged and managed by those who hold the purse strings. ~ Denis Healey, United Kingdom Secretary of State for Defence (1964-1970) and Chancellor of the Exchequer (1974-1979).
But, couldnโt the rest of the world have seen this coming from miles and miles away? Why should only the Chinese government be responsible? I feel like we all could learn from other peopleโs mistakes. Once the Chinese government failed, the rest lacked in response as well.. and now people are so stubborn, wanting to continue normal life when things are still not in control. Which is absolutely understandable. But blame is not going to stop this, especially if we donโt take responsibility ourselves. so why not ask for an apology closer to home?
It quite clearly wasnโt an accident, even if it was how can they admit it? Every government in the world suing for 600 Billion, everyone that lost someone getting multi million dollar payoutsโฆ It was a giant scam from start to finish imo.
Itโs USA and China.

End of nations: Is there an alternative to countries?
started topic
I was disappointed by the article, there seems to be no awareness of distributed systems of governance like bitcoin.
Modern nations are basically about providing a trustworthy authority to govern commerce. Some countries like Singapore are especially good at this while others are left to shake downs like protectionism and arms manufacture under the constant threat of war.
Decentralised systems with no-trust elements (like bitcoin) or a reputation systems (like the one here) are the most logical apparent alternative to existing government.

I don't understand the premise of a nation, when they say a nation competes what does that mean? Is there some kind of contest like the olympics? Who are the contestants representing each country? Who are the judges etc, it's all bullshit trying to describe after the fact people just going about their own lives. Who wakes up in the morning saying I'm representing say Chile today, and I'm going to beat those fuckers in Lithuania?

Patents Are Immoral
The EpiPen Debacle reminded me of this, basically the argument is that invention is discovery of what is out there waiting in a very public kind of realm of intelligence.
the only thing i like about patents is it helps establish intellectual property that can help an individual inventor. theyre fucked in the corporate legal system without it.
that said if they held a crypto key that controlled or sanctioned its use it would be a better system.
that said if they held a crypto key that controlled or sanctioned its use it would be a better system.
A patent is only worth having if you have the money to defend yourself in our lovely legal system. Good luck taking apple or google to court, you will run out of money before they even get into the courtroom. Know how is more important with certain parts covered by patents;)
extremely interesting topic
i agree patents are immoral many instances
ive recently been interested in cannabis gene mapping how big pharma and cannabis firms are taking strains mapping it and then owning it!
Which means that locals must buy seeds from them or work in another way with them
i have been watching the channel Future Cannabis Project on youtube

This seems to be a stronger argument for chemistry which even if original is only a few steps away from nature.
Without patents your life would be very different. Think about all the money ip generates for the country which trickles down through society. Morals are a luxury for people with money and or a safety net to look down on others and tell yourself how you are nothing like them;) if patents didn’t exist then all your wealth would be stolen and your morals would also likely disappear when you needed money for food and healthcare or your family.
Think about where all the money circulating comes from. Even if you don’t directly receive money from abroad, where do the people who pay you for whatever you do, money come from. Money goes round and round. Money stops going round to the people injecting money into this circle if they cannot receive money because someone just did it in another country for cheaper.
kind of difficult to understand you but fiat money comes from a central bank, crypto is mined.
my wealth isn't stolen without patents. if anything i'm going to have more wealth since i wont be paying monopoly prices for chemical compounds.
my wealth isn't stolen without patents. if anything i'm going to have more wealth since i wont be paying monopoly prices for chemical compounds.
Where does the money come from to buy crypto from the people who mine it. Where did the money come from to create the structures that allow the miners to mine. Money from the central bank only flows it the outlook is good or against assets. Increasing Past earnings and assets allow that good outlook. Also how did England become so wealthy? How did we acquire the assets in the first place. Not all from patents of course but ip plays a massive role in where developed countries acquire wealth
The "structure" of crypto mining is open source, its a great example of what happens when patents are not part of the ecosystem.
Money from all central banks is issued against reserves in a reference currency like USD or gold or confidence in tax receipts.
England basically fostered trade to get where it is. Openness is the catalyst, the antithesis of patents.

What can I do to preserve my grandmother before she dies?
Wait you're gonna go with "plastication" because you think it has less embarrassing analogies than freezing?
What can I do to preserve my grandmother before she dies?
My grandmother has cancer and even if she makes it she doesn't have more than 5 years to live realistaclly. I believe that some kind of immortality or radical life extension is coming but she isn't going to be able to participate so I wonder if there is something I can do to give myself a little hope if nothing else.
My gran died a couple of years ago and one of the biggest regrets I have is that I didn't talk with her about her life. My advice is spend as much time with her as possible, talk to her, learn about her (write things down if you need to) - and then keep her in your memories. Pass on your knowledge of her to the next generation. That is basically as close to immortality most of us get.
Exactly this! My gran died in 2014, one year shy of 100. She had seen a lot in her life, being born during World War One. I cherish the chats that we had. As I get older, I realise how privileged I was to have known her. Not only because of who she was but because she was born in another era and her stories and memories were real life history from a very different world to our own.
Record her talking about her life and memories, oral history vcan be an amazing gateway into the past.
I might be too old fashioned, but since you're talking about your grandma, that might not be a bad thing. Have you asked her how she feels about death? She might not want to be frozen, or otherwise kept from death. I've had to deal with death way too much recently. It's horrible, and my heart goes out to you. But sometimes dying people see loved ones who are already dead. Real, or imagined, I won't know for sure until I take that last trip. I've started to feel very selfish for keeping my sister on life support as long as I did. Personally, I really believe that death is just a transition. Regardless, I think spending as much time with her as you can, and even recording conversations with her would be a good thing. Whatever you choose, I wish you both well.
Plastication may very well be ready within 5 years and it looks not only better than cryonics but also free of any ties to discredited white rappers.
Wait you're gonna go with "plastication" because you think it has less embarrassing analogies than freezing?
It seems like a perfect idea, instead of fighting the long life of plastics we use this to preserve.
I imagine an undertaker could inject some plastics, use a plastic coffin and we could have masses of people preserved inexpensively.
Hard to find much on this though, Gwern's piece is pretty old

Does she want to be preserved? This can be a really big deal for her legacy and may freak out her family, it takes some fortitude to get past that.
this. I have a very hard time even talking with people about this basically they think it's a conceit to even consider it.

Entrepreneurs are redesigning the basic building block of capitalism (Economist)
Article basically says the systems of organization that required corporate scale have been replaced by networks that are accessible to individuals.
Yeah but corporations can use these systems just as effectively, perhaps even more so, and once individuals use these systems enough they organize into corporations anyway - because that's where the big money is.
