The Psilo-Q test kits offer quantitive testing in a kit you can use at home. The Psilo-Q testing kit was found to deviate less than 10% from a professional laboratory (HLPC) analysis. I would say this is a rough, but effective way of grading potency in your batches on a budget. Depending where you are based you can get a testing kit sourced from NL for around €20.

I'd imagine it would be fairly unhelpful since each individual mushroom can have a wildly different amount of psilocybin, no? Unless you ground up all the mushrooms you had and combined them all together as a powder and took a sample from that I suppose.

The Erlich reagent test will give you a reliable positive or negative result for the presence of psilocin in a sample. I am unsure if a psilocin purity test is available on the market.

Yes with the right chemical standards and right sample preparation, it is possible to detect levels of psilocybin and psilocin, however more research would need to be done by us before that is possible.

Hey

He can tell you if there's anything in there that shouldn't be. He's great at what he does. We've used him a few times and he's well worth what he charges. Whether that be bud or extracts, the lad knows his stuff!

Can detect concentrations of, cannabinoids (THC, CBD, CBN). Can determine, total terpene amounts. Report on any unusual results compared with known samples.
Testing for individual terpene concentrations and residual solvents will be available soon.
Can test flower, concentrates, oil most kinds, besides edibles, for the moment. Only need, max 0.5g for sample.

Hi,
Yes we can test RSO.The price would depend on what you would like to test for.

Each test (e.g. terpene, solvent, pesticide, any compound) would need a separate, reference chemical standard, to calibrate the machine and validate results. This makes it hard to give a general price.

Potency testing?

Over the past year we have been testing different variations of weed (flower, hash, wax, rosin etc), for cannabinoids concentration (THC, CBD, CBN), with what started as handheld machines and has now been upgraded to a gas chromatograph (GC-FID). What I can say is, a chromatograph is an instrument while these (not all) handheld machines seem to be devices, which aren't as accurate. There is a stage higher that is a Liquid Chromatograph (LC) which is more accurate, though we want to test for terpenes so GC is better suited.
It would be great to share my findings with the great LB peeps. Typical readings were:

Flower - 8-21%
Water Hash - 30-50%
Dry Sift Hash - 24-40%
Rosin & Resin - 50-80%
Oil (CBD) - 93%

Any questions or interest would be willing to help and share.

Just background in physics, biology chemistry and biomedical science, but wouldn't say I'm qualified. Now that I have a live example of what to apply my knowledge to, I'm like 'what did that teacher say again?..!'

Thank you, it can test for an amount of a compound, provided it can be extracted via solvent and turned into a gas.
Edibles have alot of compounds that aren't volatile, which can interfere with extracting and detecting the compounds of intersest.
It would be easier to test what is going into the edibles and estimate per piece its potency, assuming it was mixed uniformly.

What is the best way to test edibles ?

Flash chromatography, where you freeze the edible, pulverise, dissolve in solvent and put through a glass tube (column) with high pressure air, through a sieve of sorts (silica, sand etc) and this separates the cannabinoids from the sugars, fats etc in the edibles.
The separated mixture can then be tested in a GC or LC, with much more accurate results.

We are looking into it. In the uk any CBD manufacturer would be able to do it, as it is a similar process to separate the CBD from concentrate.

While potency data is great and very much appreciated, terpine profiles and individual tastes are always going to be the bottom line,

Pesticides and synthetic cannabis are a binary and can be the difference between life and death.

Thank you! With chromatography alot of light can be shed on the quantity of a compound (quantification), and the identification of a compound (qualification).

With terpine profiles, which we are beginning to notice a more prominent uniqueness across different strains, the identification of strains might be possible based on chemical signatures alone, without the need of dna profiling.

The sample prep is a bit more complex for terpenes so will need to be a separate test.

In the uk there are only a few pesticides used, as mostly there are indoor grows.
A chromatograph can be calibrated for any volatile compound, with a reference chemical standard, of known concentration. We acquire standards from sigma-Aldrich and Restek.

I’m loving these tests Extracter does! One of his test results was the main factor in one of my recent purchases. It just adds that extra peace of mind over the quality you’ll receive and personally I’d love it if more vendors got tests and posted the results. I’d love to see the actual THC percent in some of the strains claimed to be 30%.

Hi mate

I get what your saying. He's probably going to test a lot equally if not higher quality but vendors need to put it to him and pay for the tests for their products unless he'll not have anything to hold it up against and give them feedback and opinions on the results of the tests he runs.

Until then our diamonds in his opinion is the highest quality he's tested on LB to date and we'll take that! What vendor wouldn't be pleased with a high quality product to offer the extract lovers on here :)

We've used him 3 times and I know of 3 maybe 4 other vendors who have used him also and they've been happy with what he offers so we aren't the only ones using his services and paying him a fraction of what these tests would cost!.

If you look at his profile it looks like he's tested for littlebiggys test borgs too so he clearly knows his stuff and we're greatful for the feedback he gives! More vendors should use him and I've no doubt they will in the future.

The Extractor deserves the recognition what for he does. These tests should cost hundreds but he offers them at a fraction of the cost and as you've said its an education into the extracts your consuming.

Very informative and we will be using him more and more. We've new extracts coming in the future and they will be most definitely be sent his way. We've said in our opinion he should put his prices up with the time and effort he puts into the reports!

Sure, the top left is showing the machine conditions. The top right shows all the compounds detected, (in our case 7), displayed on a graph and table, each compound is represented by a peak.

Peaks 3-7 are the cannabinoids present in this sample. Peak 1 is the solvent used.
Peak 2 is the terpene amount, this can be seen in the live snap of the raw data (bottom left), and enlarged terpene signature for this sample (bottom right), where it is actually made up of micro amounts of terpene isolates, shown as micro peaks in the raw data. The summary shows percentage of dry weight, with added pictures for illustration.

Overall, at first glance, it looks like standard average hash without any obvious red flags. Hope this helps :)

Please excuse all the technical jargon!

This is a medium strengthed hash, which when burned only gives of 6 chemicals, namely terpenes, CBD, THC, CBN, CBC and CBG.
This can be seen in the table and graph.
Compared to other hash samples this is a relatively clean product, which wasnt contaminated in its production process, enough or at all to be noticed in the results. No foreign matter was noticed when it was dissolved in solvent. No further tests seem to be needed.
