Hi biggy boys and Ladies, i am very new to btc all that crypto, escrow etc Staff.. Found some people do not send btc straight away from revolut account but from some called trusted wallets? Anyone good advise me with Simple steps of doing that and if i really need that wallet then what's best to use?

Hi elsamosa, welcome to LB.

I'd recommend always using a wallet. It's possible to send directly from a Coinbase account but I've heard lots of people saying their account was closed down by CB after doing so. I did it a couple of times at the start of my BTC journey but switched to using a wallet which I've done ever since. I've never used Revolut but assume the same applies to that.

It does mean an extra transfer which means an extra fee but it seems to be more secure and if you use Coinbase Advanced then you can minimise the fees.

Hi, I have been buying btc on revolut, it only ever allows you to withdraw to around 50 addresses then locks so you have to have a separate wallet as one of your withdrawals or you will run out of options. I buy as much as i can at that time and send it to trust wallet. From trust wallet I can spend small amounts and the fees are usually 1 or 2 dollars. For more crypto information there is loads under the help section that basically helped me get from completely blind to just severe cataracts, just enough knowledge to buy drugs 😉

Thanks for stopping by big man. I also bank with rev and buy there btc. I wish LB start using ltc or something else but (might be wrong) i think the btc for safety is the best option as so many using it. Anyway my fees till now were not that bad. No complaints from me. Thanks again mate

The only thing I would say it’s good to set up a Coinbase or something similar just in case you need a refund, so you have an address you can receive btc back

My first buy is done. I used wallet from CB and the fees (think was lucky bit too) was around £4. Expected to be more expensive but gladly it was not.

I'm going to be doing my first order in the next couple of days but I just wanted to get a rough idea of what sort of fees I would be looking to pay on a $70 order? I know it depends on the exchange you use and the the time you order etc but if anyone can advise that would be great.

I’ve put in a couple orders in the past week and they have been cancelled cause the btc I transfer hasn’t been sufficient, usually between 5-10 dollars, no biggie but I send the amount asked for .. so I figured maybe it takes half an hour for the payment to process the exchange rate could of shifted £5 but when I go to pay the excess it’s charging me like £20 to send 5, has anyone else encountered this ? How can I get round it? I use Revolut

If you are using revolut to buy bitcoin then you will need to get a second wallet to send coin to because they lock your withdrawal addresses after you add so many then you can't add any more. As for fees I think they take it from the transfer so you would need to adjust the total depending on the fees if you were paying from revolut.

Ah, so someone mentioned the address limit on this before but I didn't ask. So if I have my own wallet I could potentially ditch wallets, create others, and that 50 limit would be fine for many many years, however if someone sends directly it's basically 50 buys and the account is dead?

That is what I have heard, not tested the theory as I only ever send to my trust wallet but I think you're bang on

Does revolut require you to add the fee to the transfer by any chance? The btc price at the payment page is locked In for however long till payments received. Even if the market dumps after payment you're all good.

Best practice would be to always send to your own wallet and send on from there. Fees are a bit higher as there's double the gas fees, but in this scenario you wouldn't have spent an extra £20.

The Wire - best thing ever written. Slow burner due to complication of story, but it is relatable as the war on drugs does not have a start or end to it, and street dealing doesn't just start, therefore you are immediately immersed in the story without even realising. Only figured that out the second time watching it. Also some great visual metaphors throughout. Also note there is no cue music to instigate feelings. All music is from source, i.e. car radio, night club. Only cue music is when Avon enters the lowrisers for the first time

The Ozark - Although breaking bad is good, it's not worth the hype. This is the older cooler brother of breaking bad. Calculated and intense at times. Story is always moving forward with real character progression

Altered Carbon - Absolutely fantastic sci-fi with great visuals and a great story line. Really left me itching to read the book, and I'm not a sci-fi fan

Arrested Development - Intelligent comedy with so much layered jokes you can watch this five times and still find punch lines you never noticed before

People Just Do Nothing - Threw this on not expecting much which is perhaps why I found it to be so good. Off the wall characters made completely believable by the actors playing the parts. Excellent idea, excellent execution.

Peep Show - This is a classic, you need to watch this

Trailer Park Boys - Another classic everyone here should be able to relate to

Big Mouth - Great for a background watch, but really funny and does take you back to your teenage years at times, haha

Fargo - Beautiful cinematography, great story captured very close to the original film. Billy Bob absolutely shines in this role in season one

Life On Mars - Made in early naughties, but just as relevant as today

Dark Tourist - good short run of a different kind of travel show. The kind of travel I like too

The Wolves Of Yellowstone - Nature documentary that has a story line Walt Disney would be proud of. Really makes you realise the balance of nature

Utopia - Such an underrated British TV series

It's Always Sunny In Philidelphia - Great zany show about dysfunctional friends who live in their own world, and drink in their own pub causing all kinds of ridiculous antics

Homeland - Great series that will always have you wondering what, or who is next

The Killing - Only recommend the first seasons. It drags you along on the witch hunt convincing you you know the answer

Punisher - About time they stuck to the gritty comic. Refreshing that this i not aimed at kids and fattening wallets.

The End Of The Fucking World - Two out there teens who decide to adventure together with, maybe, disastrous consequences

Dark on Netflix. German show about time travel set in a village where kids keep going missing every 33 years. Stunning production values, really intricately plotted, three series, all ties together. Loved it. Has an English dub but the German audio with subtitles is best.

If you're into Sci-fi I'd highly recommend Altered Carbon on Netflix. Really cool story and visuals. I seen somebody recommended Ozark, excellent as well. If you like animation and feel like a laugh give Rick and Morty a watch, The Midnight Gospel is also new to Netflix but really trippy / funny in my opinion. Happy watching!

Hey biggas, is there a rule of thumb when it comes to network fees? I’ve looked a few times over the past few days and Coinbase is still wanting over £12 network fees for an £80 sale.

Coinbase works best for me between 05.30 - 06.00 in the morning £1.99 - £2.99 fees for sending £100/£150 any time after that it goes up to £6.99/£8.99ish. Lots of people day trade bitcoin in other countries to make a daily wage, busy traffic on blockchain seems to raise the fees in my experience. Hope this helps x

Coinbase wallet wanted 35 bucks on a 100 dollar fee this morning.

I've legit started putting an extra 10% in people orders to cover these mad fees

Think I spent £45 in fees last week on 2 different orders totalling less than £100. Half the stuff didn’t even turn up either

Had the same drama last night (25% fee on the total amount) so I waited and ended up with a £2 fee early this morning.

A general rule of thumb seems to be ‘off peak’ hours are cheaper so evenings and weekends, but this will be US evening and weekends so take the time difference into account.

If you want to get deep... fees are subject to outbreaks of war and sudden conflict. Bitcoin is a good way to buy more ammunition. And governments sometimes buy up all the rockets etc that are available on the black market so they aren't used against them - Exocet missiles being an obvious example that were used during the Falklands. And recent rockets ETC

Deeper the better. Interesting to know though cause I love learning information that isn’t common knowledge and that people would easily label a “conspiracy”. Thanks for the info.

Bitcoin halving is happening on the 19/20th April. (the amount miners get is halved). So the market is kinda busy now with people either buying hoping for the price to increase crazy amounts again, or people selling due to thinking it might drop. If you google "bitcoin transaction fee" there is site which tracks the average cost. Like others have said, try sending at odd times and the price should be lower. The more transactions there are taking place, the higher the fee is.

Cheers for the heads up about the website trippycat. In your opinion, do you think the fees could be as volatile during the halving or is there no way to tell?

As a pure guess i'd say the fees will stay volatile, probably get a little worse in the next couple days. Though they should be less so after the halving is done and settled

But the fees have been fairly volatile for the last 6 or so months anyway, so not sure at all.

It used to be regularly lower overnight (when the US is in bed) but not recently. It's never really calmed down properly from when fees went mad at the start of November 2023.

The website mentioned I've linked above. You can see the cost of being in each block in real time, and the symbol like a guage in the bottom left gives the fees needed for various priority levels and speed of likely confirmations. You can save a huge amount in fees if you're setting them yourself when sending from your wallet by checking on here first.
