Its been a while since the Ramblings have been documented but a post we read this morning got these little cells bumping against each other. We have been watching too many documentaries and factual programs recently, that we opted to watch something a bit “easy and mind numbing” – enter Netflix’s “Beckham” Eps1. Now without revealing the Psychonaut’s true ages (we tick the box between 33-45 ;-), the moment the episode started we instantly had massive waves of nostalgia wash over us. From the images of Black cabs, streets of London town (before congestion charge), to the old football kits that were too big for the players and the mighty Concord! (RIP). Something came over us and we couldn’t stop smiling! Yes, it could have been some of the outfits the Beckham’s wore or the fact that the nation going crazy over pretty much anything that was in the papers. But we felt that feeling of our childhood, and just those simple little things that (at the time we didn’t know) brought us so much happiness and a sense our of true love for life. These days, we feel that there is such a heavy energy across the world, too many wars to even keep up with, an overload of information that keeps us in a state of not really knowing anything and pretty much access to any good/service/product from anywhere in the globe delivered to your door.
But, remember a time when you had to save for those trainers, waiting for your birthday or Christmas for that special gift, or even having to go to that restaurant to have a meal, or going to the shops to check they had stock of something – then feeling devastated when they were sold out!
What about the days you said you would meet your mate at 11:00 outside the shop, then you wait outside the shop, 11:30 - no sign of your mate and you were left wondering if you got the time or place wrong?!. Then wanting to go to phone box but then “If I move from the shop, they might turn up or if I call them they might already have left?! - oh the stress of being 12!
After watching the 1st episode (thinking of episode 2 tonight:-) we sat and reeled off all those “things” we remember the things we used to do or had to do and actually, and missed it in a weird way...an affectionate way (I know we probably won’t want to go back to a world without Deliveroo ;-)
When our parents used to say “they don’t make them like that any more” or “the good old days” – we are older and wiser and thinking - “Damn! They may have had a point….”
So, join us, with a MicroDose / Cosmic trip down memory lane and let us know what brings a smile to your faces :-) Here are a few from our midnight chat last night:
