What your thoughts about white ash and oil rings? Does it really matter?
In my opinion weed which smokes white ash have a much better taste.
As a grower I can say that not every strain burn white ash, you can flush properly then dry perfectly and still get black ash.

Personally i think it's complete nonsense. White ash can be nasty and black ash can be great, it's completely strain dependant.
More importantly, it's a question of combustion. You can get any plant matter to burn white if you get it hot enough....hence "white hot". It's simply a case of using a higher temperate flame and bingo, what was black is now white.
If you're smoking a spliff and it's got black ash you've got two potential reasons;
1) the weed is wet, i.e it hasn't been dried properly and likely not been cured at all = dog shit
2) the weed sticky because it's full of trichomes and burns slow, appearing to be black because it hasn't completely combusted = good shit
Take No.2 and put one of those windproof lighters on it, (the ones that look like a bunson burner) and bingo....white ash.
If i had a pound for every time i've had to bite my lip with people talking about black ash and flushing i'd have about....well.... £45, but seriously, I grow in hydro, where arguably you don't even need to flush and i still do with RO water for 10 days, then dry for at least 2 weeks and cure for at least 8, and sometimes, yes, there are still certain phenos that will produce black ash.

Bullshit, if it burns black then hasn’t been flushed properly hence full of nutrients that get locked in the bud, leaves, or has been sprayed with a chemical to add weight. Any vendor that says it alright just wants to push their product
Yup, i actually like to leave my ground up weed for an hour or two to kinda "air out" before i smoke it. I'm a bong and spliff guy (old school) and just think it makes for a more pleasant inhale. A bit like letting a bottle of red wine "breathe" for a while before you drink it.

It could do, never really thought about it. Personally I don't notice a loss in flavour just a slightly smoother hit but you could be right. (I could just be imagining it being smoother though... maybe it does nothing at all).
It's mostly because I have a bit of a bad chest so anything to try and make it a bit smoother. Really I need to switch to vaping completely but I just can't get to grips with it after so many years smoking. 😞

black ash usually indicates unspent carbon locked up within the bud, this can happen for various reasons, drying, curing or moisture content lock up.
however there isnt much isolated research on the relation between the nutrient uptake and unspent carbon or black ash to even say that its bad or good.
usually great flushes do get whiter ashes, but sometimes no matter how great the flush is, youll still get that greyish dark ash colour.

Better taste but also better for your health, but if you are smoking the herb then that’s an ironic point;)
Bottom line is does it mong you properly and does it taste nice. Personally I don't give a frogs fat arse what colour the ash is, can be purple for all I care as long as I'm munted
Beforehand it was one of the first thing I looked for when sampling a batch. But nowadays I've had strains that burn white and they are weak as and not very terpy. Conversely I've had strains with darker ash and they are the BOMB. For example the Animal Mints has the darkest ash of all the Midzotics and yet it is among the tastiest and strongest. While it matters to a degree I think this is one of the latest stoner obsessions. For example a few years ago everyone obssessed with PGR. Got to the point where some people wouldn't smoke anything with big or dense buds because it meant PGR.
Saying all that though, I tend to avoid weed that burns BLACK. Not dark grey but actual black. Gives me PTSD from the days when people used to spray their crops 🤮

Speaking from a science pov black and white Ash with the carbon content of weed would be only indicating the amount of heat used to combust the weed. Simply put if its black it was heated under 450°C and not fully combusted. The best indicator to tell if it has additives is if it pops and sizzles when being burnt.
I think you're about right there... so it doesn't really matter, in and of itself.
Something burning with white ash whilst leaving oil rings is almost certainly going to be top drawer. But there are also plenty of top drawer smokes that don't burn quite like that.
So it's a reasonable indicator of quality - but by that point, you're smoking it already. And frankly, that's my preferred way of determining quality anyway!

For me its the 100-200mg THC worth of RSO or tincture every night which bashes the wallet and fucks my tolerance to bits. Better than smashing SSRI's and mood stabilizers though 😂

Ahh you might be able to help me with my current pickle. I agree, I don't too much mind the small chamber if I'm not in a rush, I just do 2/3 bowls in a row on max temp. Problem is if I'm just wanting to medicate and don't have the time for all that every time.
But the Xmax is too good to straight up replace with the mighty, my inner Yorkshire won't allow that waste. Plus it's pretty damn excellent portability wise. So my plan was to by a volcano for home and keep the Xmax for out and about.

Heaviest my use has ever been was 3g of trates a day. I was flush at the time, but my lungs conked out before the cash did! They sounded like a couple of old school radios trying to pick up the world service on the moon! 🤣

It's hard to say these day's, thought strains I tried a few times years ago like Jack herer, Liberty Haze, Black Rose, Super silver haze, White widow, Blue cheese, etc would remain my favorites, but some of these newer hybrids are insane! So much stronger and really exotic flavours! Sherbert, White Tahoe Cookie and Tropicana? Got to be my recent top 3.

Any biggaz doing 16:8?
Is it something similar to intermittent fasting? I heard a lot of positive opinions about it.
We are all over fasting 16:8 / OMAD (One Meal a Day) - 24 and 72 hour fasts, highly recommend it. There are so many facets to it, physically and emotionally better, clearer mind, feeling of connection and spirituality.
Couple of pointers that really helped us in the early stages:
1. You need to have a good relationship with food before you embark on any type of fasting
2. Think about the types of foods you regularly eat - heavy on carbs, processed foods, levels of protein and fats. Carbs tend to generate appetite and cause those hunger pains so its worth thinking about balancing more with proteins / fats so you can move your body into sources of energy from good fats / protein.
3. Do you eat breakfast or skip? Normally eat late dinners. Worth working out when is best to have the 16:8 period - tends to be easier to skip breakfast and have your eating window between 12-8pm
4. Making sure that the last meal you eat is as "nutritious" as possible. Meaning making sure its fully of good, healthy foods reach with good fats as these are the last to leave the digestive system and therefore provide satiety.
5. Make sure you keep busy for the first few days you do your fast as you will probably think about food more because you are restricting yourself (typical when you cant have something, its all you think about!). After a few days you will start to get into a rhythm with it.
5. Try not to fall into the temptation of over-eating or treating yourself to "naughty" foods because you have been so good in the day ;-)
Hope that helps friend, fasting is part of our lives now and not only have we seen weight loss but we have much more energy, we don't seem to get sick anymore and more importantly we have a better understanding of what foods work and don't serve us

Totally into it. I tend to eat within an 8 hour window everyday and I have never been healthier (I'm 40 btw). Me and me mammy were talking about this for her digestion yesterday. She's even starting to have trouble with some veg so her digestion needs addressing.

Are you into fitness, nutrition etc mate? Not that it specifically had its benefits to the fitness industry but how I used it anyway. I'd highly recommend it as wirght loss technique and to improve general life health. I'd retype what psycho typed but he pretty much everything on the head
The wife and I have just started IF again. It's the only way I have been able to control my weight consistently in the last 14 years. I have tried all the fad diets and this is the only way I have managed to stick to a consistent weight.
I guess it's still about less calories in than our but just controlling it in an easier manor.
Im still over weight but I'm not massive which if I continued down the path I was going i would have ended up massive.

In some parts of India fasting it's referred has Ekadashi (2 x month)
It's align with moon phase and when our bodies are more open to this process.

If done carefully you can get a fat yielding solo baby.
Be warned, when I grew this how I started. Next a bigger tent, then I converted half the pc room to a 4 plant rotation and then you’ll dread cutting day 😂

I have a small greenhouse in the balcony, for three auto at a time, I grow them naturally, where I live is not considered illegal to grow if you do not use expert techniques and are three at most.
three shifts from April to November with an average yield of 30/40g each plant.
I know it’s little but the cost is minimal, effort is zero, risk is zero and the result is good. tops are no dense and a little light in high obviously but I mean..it’s all free from my balcony 😎

Indica strain grow smaller. Minimum size for a closet with one 400watts hps should be 1x1 mt . If this is already to big for your project ... Autos in balcony (totally agree) . PC box is cute but might be disappointing if you harvest 10g after 10 weeks

Yes they responded well just to day light (in the summer). Something to consider is the number of hours of sun exposure they get.
Scrog is an amazing technique considering space and g harvested .
For a small space like asked, check also some pruning techniques like topping or fim.

You can convert a bedside cabinet easily into a wee grow box. Grow auto flowers in tiny pots.

In Thailand I grew in a 1m x 1m tent with a 200w led. Doesnt matter how many plants, you get the same 150-200g. I used a really cheap drip system in perlite.

Everyone's an expert, so here's two pennies' worth: buy the best quality you can afford and enjoy it until it runs out. When you can afford to buy again, buy again. This strategy is invariably better than endless shake or cheap commercial hash.
Seriously, hyper-economising ruins the fun. It doesn't make sense to spend half your high trying to mop up every crumb from your grinder, or in coughing fits because you absolutely must capture every last molecule of smoke out of your piece. As for drinking bong water...strep, black mildew, E.coli, proteus - to name a few.

The shake situation generally depends on the person. I myself don't get the effects from weed anymore as my tolerance is so high and I'm also not working atm. Shake is good for the fact it's still cheaper than buying a cheap oz of buds and will last longer. Not everyone smokes for the buzz my man

Get a magic flight launch box with a power adapter and batteries then learn how to use it well. No other way can make herbs last as long as this little baby. ( my first vape). You can also smoke eat or make butter with your leftovers its a win win situation. Bit for a J can last for hours in this little baby. The high builds gradually but can get you totaly baked if you so wish.

I used to smoke a quarter of weed a week and that would cost me £60-70. For the last eight years I’ve been vaping concentrates instead and a gram of that is roughly £40-50. So I’ve literally been saving £20-30 per week and I’m sure my lungs are better for it.

use eagle bill shake and vape pipe it is a normal glass vape pipe use the opening as a bowl and when you run out it's collected so much THC rich oil on the glass forms VERY strong stuff you can heat as it's glass made to be heated from the glass bubble to the stem or using a little water to soften in up you can use paper clips straitened with a loop on the end to strip the pipe literally clean and gather the now thick dark/black deposit out and a gram of that lasts ages.

I have 2 really unappealing words to say so hear me out, don't judge. The 2 words are bong water. Do not drink of course, not directly. As part of a smoothie, yes. Shit works great and it's more than free its fucking recycling.
Careful, bong water liquid can quikly provide a potentially sickening "smoothie" as bacteria from various contaminents (few people are known to fadtidiously scrub the inside of the bong cylinder, even fewer are known for changing the water on a per-use basis. Also, i'm not so sure the solids you would be consuming are that pschoactive - thc is not soluble in H2O to my knowledge.

I have no doubt that Jesus was a real person and have read a number of good books on the subject. My favourite is ‘Holy Blood & The Holy Grail’ which examines the theory that Jesus was actually high born, had a real if tenuous claim to be King of the Jews and that this together with his non stop preaching is what pissed the Romans off. He actually married Mary Magdelane at the wedding at Cana (as a lowly carpenter’s son he would not have been invited to what was a society wedding) and because the Romans wanted rid of him his followers negotiated with Pontius to ‘disappear’ him rather than see him imprisoned and they did rather a good job of this! They cut him from the cross, hid him a got him out of there in what would become to be known as the ‘resurrection’.
He died not long after in Europe, but Magdelane was pregnant and there became a huge mission to protect his bloodline. The holy grail was in fact a symbol for her womb. She bore his child and died in France. The knights Templar have protected the bloodline and it’s believed his descendants are alive today.

Looks a high amount of nitrogen in there too. You know bud Rod as you gently pull on a leaf and it just comes away
Maybe looks like too much nitrogen but could be due to a very low temperature when lights off here in Scotland. Cold temperature's turn leaves dark purple apparently.
High humidity, not enough dryback periods, high nitrogen, more moving air? Theres quite alot of things that could trigger it. But if you cut away affected areas and dont see it climbing up or spreading then its a good sign of recovery, if its still climbing/spreading then the plant is a goner and its too late to recover.

Sorry to say, Definetly looks like rot, can spread quick once spores release, You can get neutralising spray to deter it from spreading however its best to be cautious to not ruin the rest of your crop especially as your onto flushing it's too late.

This is only my 3rd grow. How long should I ideally dry then cure? I didn't cure much before but smoke was still good

Seen enough people make the mistake of heat with no air, Which actually creates more humidity leading to further rot.

I’ve always trimmed before I hang to dry (only grown a couple of times), can you normally do it after drying? Does it make it easier when dry? Most tedious part of the process…

Thanks pal. Was waiting til the trichomes on the bud started showing amber before flushing but that's now out of the question. They started going amber on the leaves tho so hopefully still be good smoke?

Will still be a good smoke, surprisingly it usually just makes for a trippier high when the trichomes haven't changed to cloudy amber, alot of people usually mistake this for a stronger high.

Just doing a bit of shopping, and my 21st century brain is struggling with how slow my connection is on LB. No other site does this to me, so wondering if its just the way it is or if I need better internet lol
I had this issue on all pages when using Chrome, but it became un usable when going to a page with alot of posts to load (a vendors page etc.)
Firefox has 0 issues for me and runs smoothly, maybe give that a go if you're not already using it.

I’ve done 2 grow that ended up moldy(no fans just a light used to grow) I’ve since upgraded my light to a 700 actual watt good one, what else do I need to buy to take away the mold risk ?
With a few hundred £ budget is there anything you could recommend to make it fool proof?
Ideally you need to control your environment, use a grow tent with dehumidifier and extraction to increase air flow and reduce humidity, there's a sweet spot google VPD vapour pressure deficit, this will give you the ideal humidity and temperature during during different phases of the life cycle...

Is there any chance you can take some pictures of your weed that actually shows the quality. Instead of the fuzzy green blobs on the screen;)
So every word gets a number, we are on 102 atm.
Once we get to 31/10, we will stop giving out numbers and put the total into a random number generator which will give us a random number and a winner.

Reminds me of Gary Paton, sweet creaminess with a strength you'll not usually find with such terps.
If you research this strain you'll see it's 'aroused and tingly' affects and you may even see 'Bacio' means to kiss in Italian, making the real name gelato kiss, and it's one of the strongest gelato strains too, i think GH mentioned this in listing.
50/50 hybrid tho the sativa is present only in good vibes and a little trippy, no energy from this one lol

It’s a rare one indeed, really smooth beautiful smoke and the buds look great however yeah not the best name that’s for sure. I’ve had Gary P a few times and really liked it.

I grow my ladies under Mars Hydro LED's for veg, but have always been disappointed with the yeild from LED's in flower.
Temps are a constant issue, running AC is expensive and I'm looking to replace my HPS at some point.
Bud Botanist (great guy and vendor) gave me some sage advice on this one but I'm just asking any other growers out there, what you would reccomend as a replacement for 4 x 600w Sunmaster Super Deluxe HPS in vented hoods?
They're on the red end of the spectrum and have given me great results. But again, if I can get the same results with less temperature issues I'm willing to switch.
Budget is around 2k hopefully less, flower tent is 3m x 1.5m.
Any and all advice welcome.

I've been using spider farm sf4000 LED's. Great light output and colour range plus low heat and slim design. I've coupled them up on light rails which allows me to run the lights at full power (dimmer function on them) 5 inches +/- above the girls without light burn. The lights only move 1.5 feet from centre which is enough to allow the light to penetrate at different angles and encourage better lower bud imo. If nothing else they look great moving backwards and forwards. I also have two sf1000 static on ends.

Just another idea to help the heat issue is keeping your water chilled if your running a dwc or rdwc system. I know I can't keep the tent a steady temp but water I can. certainly alot less ec and ph movement in hotter conditions with a constant cool water supply so one less stress the girls have to content with.

A good closed loop room with 4 lights will set you back about 6-8k all in bro and will be the best money you have ever spent. Gone are the HID days!
Get yourself a Co2 tank, air con, atmosphere reader/controller, seal the room and you will never ever look back my friend 🍻
I have a few grows using the Gavita 1700e LEDs and I can’t recommend them enough. Although there 1k a light but will do you 10 years.
Tents are a huge pain in the ass and it’s so difficult to maintain a balanced atmosphere as the air space is constantly being replaced.
4 x 600w HIDs in a tent produce some amount of heat so major intake and extraction values are needed.

The tents aren't perfect but they just about fit so I think I'll have to keep going with them.
From what I've read the ppms need to be over 1500 for CO2 to even work properly, plus the expense of an Ecotecnics (or similar) monitor etc. I dunno....is it worth it for a small grower?
My yeild per crop is around 50oz, so nothing too special. Not sure I could spend 6-8k.
Bit out of my limits!

Ok so I hear you loud and clear, I know exactly the shape room you are working with.
I think you could easily hermetically seal the room with a little planning and wit bro. You can create a space between the door and the room that when you open the door you enter a small sealed off space. Once you are in that space and once the door is closed behind you, you can enter the main ( Closed ) grow room.
Take your time with research, if you have this space for years to come then I highly recommend spending the money now and reeking the benefits later.
The Gavitas are great units running 630w and I can confirm that I’ve been getting around 1.2g per watt ( 700-750g ) and because once fully established and flowering you can hang them right above the tops the canopy you can produce with a script technique is epic ❤️
You could get 40-45oz from only two of the Gravitas bro if you use dwc, co2 and dial everything in.
TBH 40oz is achievable with two Gravitas in a 2.4m x 1.2n tent using DWC hydro and dam good extraction!
So think about that bro, same yield half the lights currently used.

Depends on your setup really. If you're running CO2 etc. This site is very good and has a grow light calculator with approx yields amongst other good info and reviews of lights. You can also compare lights with the calculator. Don't know if this is any help. :)

For 3mx1.5m I would recommend you 2x 720w led. Lumii Black its good value for money, you can get them for around 400 each. They will perfectly cover your space.
For your budget you can buy 2 of them and new extraction fun. Im using AC Infinity cloudline with 67 controller and it works great for me
