local newspapers are dying because they only have realities to deal with, big media can weave grand fictions for years.

local newspapers are invariably run by larger media outfits- certainly in this country you will find them pushing the same pro-business and anti- people agenda, while pushing for harder punishment for poor criminals by hyper vilification, and a justification for the crimes of the rich, and a nice side order of celebrity worship- they imply locality but are run by the same wankers that get their dirty hands onto everything. I think local newspapers are probably reflective of how corporatised and then depleted many local town are in the North of England- since Thatcher a few folk were sble to buy their social housing and the rest of the working class were screwed over- it’s been a downward spiral since then, and the local newspapers have become a casualty along the way.

Both the left and the right have really good independent news outlets that put mainstream news to shame……shame
