Growing up in the 90s remember having really sticky/ smelly weed, everything seems dry with low terps and no stickiness or real smell. Can’t find what I want commercially… any suggestions 🙏

If it's not sticky like alot of weed nowadays it's more than likely been spun a bit in a machine or it's old stock. Even if you keep weed relatively well kept it still will go through the degredation process. Imports tend to be non sticky. Locally grown less handled, fresh stock should do the trick in most cases.

I agree with this one. Speaking from experience, it is sticky when it's fresh ie on the plant and it gets less and less sticky within the first month of drying/curing.

Well on a recent family break, i turned to carts cos I like a few joints through day/night, which wasn't easy. Anyway. I was pretty surprised. Ive always been one that loves the smell. This is actually what im trying to decode right now. Carts or flower. I do think it's much stronger maybe you could try that?
Or do you use tobacco on your joints kinda thing?

The reason the grass aint sticky no more is due to the setups.. most grower have switched to leds, started growing hydro and then also started using auto flowering seeds... wish they would go back to the old stool grows... hps lighting, soil based with regular seeds... this is where the stickiness is

Dont think those are the reasons.... Most growers havent switched to autoflowers, its literally impossible to take cuttings from an autoflower so your telling me they popped 100 plus seeds and filled a room?? LOL also growing in led or hydro doesnt make a difference to stickyness. Thats all down to how growers dry/cure and also its all strain dependant. Sometimes the more the thc content the more stickier the bud will be... I guess you must know alot of growers to be making such a HUGE statement.

It actually a lot cheaper to grow autoflowering seeds especially when bought in bulk. It's easier to drop a seen into soil rather than taking cuttings. Plus autofliwering seeds is a shorter grow period. If they were using regular seed the grow period for cuttings is still 3.5 months til chop time.
Everybody i know growing is using autoflowering as they don't need experience to grow... they basically grow thereselves

Auto's are difficult to master, you need alot of experience to understand the growth cycle and get everything right. Too much can effect your outcome.

Most genetics are ok, only a few strains can hit decent results.

The best trick is to have 2 rooms, veg and flower. Will get grow times down.

Decent cuttings bring your veg times down by weeks. They grow fast and get large quickly.

I think you would do better having 100 decent cuttings. Veg for 2-3 weeks then flower 100 smaller plants. You can easily get 4-8 ounces(dry) off each plant with good low stress training. Autos can be a pain and good strains can take 12 weeks to finish

Led's = lots more tricombs
Plants use pretty much all the light emitted from Led's so it's better for them. Hps waist electricity and the plants don't use everything emitted and they are silly hot. Double end hps are way better for light spectrum i think. Gavita 750 is a wicked bit of kit

Hi all,

Looking for some flavours from my youth that I can't seem to find anymore, in the latter half of my teens around the early 00's I would occasionally get my hands on some high quality bud with a distinct smell/tase. They basically tasted the way they smelt and where very loud.. the kind of stuff that half the street knew you was smoking.

First one was very skunky... Had that classic skunk taste. When you smelled the buds it had a scent very similar to ground up coffee beans..

Other one and my favourite was often lighter in colour which could be described as lime green. This stuff smelt very sickly with main scent being what I can only describe as vomit.. like baby sick. It tasted like that too but in a good way lol

Any idea on what strains they could have been and even better any vendors have some in stock?

I know exactly what you’re talking about, but I haven’t come across those terps since then. I believe it was the strain Shiva that had the vomit smell?? I could be wrong, it’s just what springs to mind!

I’d recommend Gypsy Haze from Green Avenger Weed and Canadian Cheese from Canadian Imports. Both stood out for me as classic throwbacks 👍

what i remember is hydro was the fashionable way to grow at the time and there was lots of cuttings being passed around and not many beans being popped. Lots of raids due to smells... guessing this stuff just kinda died out.

Haha it’s hard to articulate why it’s nice without sounding like a weirdo isn’t it. I suppose it’s similar to really smelly cheese, even a Parmesan or something - smells like feet but still somehow appealing.

I always found lemon haze to smell/taste a bit like vomit. It's an older strain as well. Could be that maybe?

will have to try some more hazes.. tbh i kinda wrote most of them off years ago, the "haze" i could get all turned into that cif lemon cleaner smelling stuff which i hate.

I totally get you on the vomit smell you describe, and yet it’s a pleasant smell? Weird. It seems like the more obnoxious cannabis smells and flavours have largely been bred out in favour of more fruity and earthy ones eh?

The Canadian Import’s Cherry Mac is probably the closest I’ve come to that old school obnoxious stench in recent times. They have some in now. It’s not overly vomity, it’s complex complex and layered and all that good shit but my initial impression was “STENCH”. My missus complained about the smell as well, and she never complains anymore.

My mate often talks about hazes smelling like vomit, particularly super silver haze. So I echo Whiz420’s shout as well.
