Are mushroom bars taking over?
It may seem like a silly question or for that matter a point to make at all really.
Surely Shroom bars have zero interest in total world domination, or do they?
We didn't think so at first, but we kept getting asked to make them so we thought we'd give it a go.
A little history:
In the past , I'd tried one of a well known label bars knocking around a while back and have to be honest it was a little on the sickly side.
Too much in the way of cheap milk chocolate that didn't sit well with me at all, so at the time I personally didn't see the apeal, but its what the customer wanted and so its what the customer gets ultimately.
However, I knew that I couldn't go down the same route as the bars I had tried before and so the research began.
I loved the idea of attempting to make the bars with propper Cacao, I have been lucky enough to know some peeps that used ceremonial Cacao in rituals with thier clients so i knew I had at couple of good contacts to source the good stuff from to make the bars but the other hurdle was to keep them vegan.
Now don't get me wrong if someone has the balls and moral authority to go down that route with thier diet then my hat comes off to them, its not for me but then niether is sky diving and I can definitely see the apeal of that too.
Who knew Honey wasn't vegan? not me, although I do now, so that was out of the equation and seen as most of the peeps asking for the bars at the time were of that particular dietry persuasion we decided to lock it into the recipie as to not exclude. I'm glad we did because they taste great. Proper Canadian syrup definitely does the job.
I've learnt a lot about chocolate making since starting these, considering the amount of cakes that I've cremated over the years this was no mean feat.
Getting a nice gloss and audible snap to a well tempered bar is a trick unto its self especially with 4g of the shroom gods in tow, I reckon Gordon Ramsey would struggle with that, there I said it off you fuck Ramsey this boys in charge now :) .
But all jokes aside, why Cacao? apart from the taste and for those unaware Cacao contains a compound called Theobromide. I would highly recomend using cacao in any mushy brew. Steap the ground dreid shroomz in a little water (not boil) for about 20-40 mins depending on amount and make a Cacao drink seperately then strain the shroomz and add the two liquids stir for a bit and serve, you can add a little black pepper and some cinamon or cardamon to taste and this a blissful trip indeed.
The Cacao is a vaso dialator where as psyclocybin is a vaso constrictor, so if yu want the good neurogenisis of the shroom adding a stronger vaso dialator to the mix is a good idea
plus the Cacao helps produce seretonin in the gut (your second brain) reduces the anxiety experienced in the intial stages of the psyclocyin
production of the trip and promotes a nice warm feelin so it was a no brainer to go with good Cacao as the chocolate choice for the bars really.
After all if you believe in the medicine you better give it out in a form that works well for those partaking.
It seems to have worked, we now get asked more and more for the bars over the dried more conventional shroomz, which is a shame, because they are a ton of work :)
However, I totally get it not everyone likes the taste of shroomz, me personally I love em, I love how they smell feel and taste, but some peeps the idea of eating them and possibly a terribly prepped brew in the past puts a lot of people off. so yes it wasn't just a silly title for a post ( well) the bars are taking over. We see more and more people asking for them and its understandable I guess, to quote Tony the Tiger Theeeeeeeeyrrrrrrrre Grrrrrrrrreat.
I do realise that this post is a little on the shamless promotional side and that we as a company to some at least (LB community for sure) are new here but we've been at this a long time, lurking in the shadows helping the more adventerous meet their sparkly needs and bringing a well needed medicine to the forefront.
Should we run a competition for some bars do you think?
