I can highly recommend Cormac McCarthy’s (No Country For Old Men, The Road) Blood Meridian. Read with caution, this book put images in my head, that I cannot erase. However, it’s beautifully written and is considered, one of the greatest novels to come out of America.

Good luck, it took me 3 attempts.

I’ve read it and I found it hard going. It’s a dark book, and like you I had a few nightmares after reading it. Not a book I’d ever re read.

The Kingkiller Chronicle - Patrick Rothfuss

Really love his writing and the rich fantasy world that he creates for Kvothe to inhabit gripped me from the start of the 1st book, The Name Of The Wind. 12 years now since he released book 2. Every time he posts anything on social media he's trolled as hard as George R.R. is, but I gave up on Game Of Thrones years ago, both the books and the TV adaptation, which is a shame as all of his writing is brilliant. It also means that I'll never finish my leather bound collection of A Song Of Ice And Fire...

Ooof another vote for Patrick Rothfuss. The current lady tomato is a big fan and I’ve found fantasy wasn’t my bag……until she made me agree to read name of the wind.

Have you read The Slow Regard of Silent Things? That was a nice, if short, story focussing on Auri. The writing style seemed quite different too, but an enjoyable expansion. Looking forward to him telling Bast's story in The Narrow Road Between Desires in November. He's expanding the world, and he's interested in telling the stories, so just give us 2 more Kvothe books and give the story the quality of ending that it deserves!

I’ve got to work through the rest, my partner is evangelical about Rothfuss and basically buys the books for anybody’s birthday and 9.5/10 people love it!

12 years since the last book in the trilogy! But unfortunately its not book 3 in November, it's another novella like The Slow Regard of Silent Things. As you can imagine people online aren't happy that he isn't spending all of his spare time writing the last book, but I'd imagine he's spent quite a bit of time not writing that book since the last was released.

I never tried the GOT books, I loved the tv series, but felt like reading the books after 8 seasons of tv would be a lot of time to invest.
I’m nearing the end (so far) of Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight trilogy and have “Name of the wind” loaded in my Kindle to start next. 👍

I don't think it's worth reading now. He's made his money with the TV rights and whatever so at his stage in life he's set, so he's never finishing that story. A shame though as the books were (obviously) much richer and with more characters than the TV series, and the plotlines were different nearer the end too.

Have you read any Dragonlance books? The War Of The Lance trilogy is superb (packaged in one book as Chronicles), as is the follow-up trilogy, Legends. The Tales collection is good, if a bit hit or miss, but they kinda lost me after that.

Excellent recommendation, MR 👍. I read the Dragonlance books around 30 years ago (?). Hadn't read in a while and my friend got me back into it with the Legends books. Had a brief fling with D&D when very young and didn't think I'd enjoy the books/world but absolutely loved the character Raistlin. Went back and read the others after (not the best order!) Very enjoyable and I've recently thought about rereading them. Other things I enjoyed back then were Raymond E Feist's 'Riftwar' books (starting with Magician), and Stephen R Donaldson's 'The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant' books. Desperately need to get back into my reading again 👍

Raistlin was definitely my favourite too as there was so much nuance to the character, and the development of the consequences of their search for power. Apparently they're potentially doing something with the Dragonlance IP again, after some legal wrangling with Weiss and Hickman a couple of years ago. Considering how well it could be adapted into a pretty long fantasy series I'm surprised no-one's ever bothered to do it.

Love the earlier Julian May stuff. The Golden Torc etc.

They were released in the mid/late '80s and it's all TSR/D&D linked and they're looking at introducing a Dragonlance campaign world for D&D 5e. It's been a rights nightmare for years, and there were issues with the original authors and what was being done with their work. I definitely hope it happens as they created a really rich world in those 6 books in particular, and really make you care for characters with strong storylines. Easily adapted to D&D with a decent DM.

I've just reading the short novel he recently released that focuses on Bast, 'The Narrow Road Between Desires'. If he ever releases the 3rd book I'll be amazed. Glad you enjoyed what he has written though, it's well worth anyone's time.

I’ve done same w/ Coinbase - bought bc & sent straight to vendor. I do have a Coinomi wallet but haven’t used in ages. Only concern is I haven’t submitted a wallet address in case of dispute/refund. Don’t know where to do that, I’m little new to LB/Transaxe & unfamiliar w/ the proper process. Any advice from others would be appreciated

Yeah paxful is good to buy from just buy from sellers with lots of good reviews as some want more money than you sent nd agreed upon but it is overall good

Which bitcoin site to use

Exchanges still cant beat the price of btc I get on localbitcoinsdotcom. The only hassle is I need to order btc and go to my local national financial agency and pay a money transfer slip with cash. Thats not a prob tho, cause the teller is a very nice looking woman :P And btc is in my wallet in 3-6 hours after I pay.

Can I ask, does 'local national financial agency' roughly translate to the Union in the West or something similar?

It will depend on which country you are in. Look for the bank that is managing the most business in your region...

Seen this on one of the other platforms not sure if 100% correct but I would be wary of coinbase they are very intrusive closed my account a few months ago. They give details to HRMC depending on whether you’ve spent over the threshold limit.

Yes it’s for everyone, it’s because Bitcoin fees are through the roof at the mo and they are trying to negate the effects. They peaked Tues and seem to be dropping but not yet close to what everyone is used to - I expect it will be several days at least until they remove the restrictions

You can, however the network fee for BTC is currently £21.... 😔

It’s not really a case of “putting up with it”. Many Biggas will be using other methods and the rates of sales on here must have plummeted. Transaxe.com is clearly a btc only payment processor and is required for the functionality of this site. Until/unless LB Admin contract a new service provider then nothing can or will change….

I feel you. I wanted to order a 3.5 to test a different strain from my usual vendor as the strain I've been smoking has run out. Due to the high fees I can't! Your right this is ridiculous BTC is the only crypto you can use

I think it will delete after a certain amount of time.

The non kyc exchanges are looking for 130usd or thereabouts for a fee.
The worst is the 3rd party payment handlers elsewhere accept other crytpo etc. Just LB stuck in the past. If fee's stay abnormally high this will push vendors elsewhere to operate.

Select BTC and press the three dots at the top then "Withdraw" I transfer from Kraken to Exodus then to LB from Exodus.

If you send straight from Kraken/Coinbase and others direct to the wallet on your order page you can be banned from the app if that wallet was flagged.

You can avoid this by sending the funds to your own wallet first, and then to the order wallet. Look for a withdraw or transfer option in Kraken - it should then ask you for the address to transfer to, you'll find this in your new wallet app usually by clicking "deposit".

I've had no issues sending from Luno or Exodus wallets, and had no issues sending funds direct from Paybis.

How do I have my own wallet tho?

You can get apps for wallets on your phone like Exodus or Luno. There's many options though if you google aroun, not had any issues with these two myself
