Maybe there needs to be a small explanation of what to do somewhere to make it easier for buyers?

Right now, you put your name and address in and send it.

Theoretically, if they wanted, someone between you and the vendor could access that information.

If you use some form of encryption, then only you and the buyer can see it.

LB supports PGP - vendors give a public "key" which allows you to encrypt information so that only they can see it.

Seems to add a layer of complexity that a lot of biggas neither require nor really understand. Difficult to respect taking away choice.

When doing things like this on the clearweb, or on the darkweb extra protection is needed.

If you are doing stuff like this on the internet, a basic understanding of opsec is needed. If folks can figure out how to use crypto, they can figure out how to use PGP encryption.

I am sure the people who run LB are lovely. But I don't know how secure their site is. And I don't know who they are.

A vendor needs to have my personal information. No one else does.

It's also adding choice, not taking it away - because I take security seriously there are a load of vendors I won't use here. No one is forcing anyone to use any vendors.

I agree with all of that, and respect sellers making it available,I just don’t understand requiring it. Most don’t understand crypto, they just learn enough to use it and think they’re anonymous whilst doing so. Ditto vpn which probably makes the average user less secure not more.

Vpn hides traffic from your isp but makes it available to the vpn provider.

Buying drugs is not a criminal offence, authorities here can’t get permission to see your internet traffic based on buying small amounts of weed online. Different for dealers of course. You know (or can find out) data protection law and policy with any reputable uk isp so you know your info is pretty safe barring major hacks. You also have customer service and legal protection.

The vpn is probably in a third county, unknown laws and rules, opaque business, opaque privacy protection, probably set up in a hurry with default settings on (whatever they may be) the vpn also get your personal info during sign up cc details etc and if it’s free, your data is 100% the cost of using it.

Definitely good use cases for using a reputable vpn (paid) that you know how to set up, but buying weed for personal use in the UK probably isn’t one of them.

NAL or Police - just reflecting my reading on this subject. All kinds of govt agencies can request to know what sites you have visited in almost any case thanks to the snoopers charter. To know what pages you visited and what interactions requires a court order, which would only be granted based on investigating crime - there is no crime of buying drugs.

Again, anyone researching properly can benefit from privacy tools, and defo agree some people should, just not the average joe buying a bag of weed for personal use.

I used the Tor browser ( rpund purple icon, half solid and half a target; as no idea if tor is a brand or terminology) and once it loaded & opened - I had a bar at the bottom that I cut and pasted into and pressed go. Then came here to test

On IOS you must select the lowest security level (bronze) instead of the default (silver) on Onion otherwise it auto disables JavaScript….

Just had a huge payment disappear into the ether while jumping between Clearnet and Society because clearnet just dropped out during the process. Its obvious the whole thing is breaking down.
