Yeah but that sucks at best it limits peoples ability to have a conversation if the mods don't approve of what they're saying and this thread just has one mod who must not be able to give it the attention it needs they really should have left it unrestricted and added a couple more mods to remove the trolls, we've offered to help and be a mod but they've not replied to us :(

Norway are also identify as a social democratic nation IE left wing. They have huge rates of taxation, better health/wealth/educational outcomes- and score among the happiest nations in the world.

The problem with the UK is that we increase taxes on individuals to provide subsidies for the companies running our privatised infrastructure.

This has been the case since Thatcher adopted Reaganite economic policy 40 years ago.

Lib Dem, Tory, and Labour have been in power in different forms during that time and economic policy has stayed the same.

That’s why we’re experiencing such social decay. We rely on a system that requires growth above all else- and yet the system crashes every decade or so.

The only difference between every single government of the last 40 years is the extent to which they emphasise cultural and identity politics- why? because it acts as a shroud for constant failures in economic policy. If you want to have positive outcomes like Norway, for every part of society- economic policy has to change.

I rate you highly as a vendor- just respectfully disagree with your views. Not sure it makes good business sense though mate- posting somewhat controversial rhetoric can surely only alienate potential customers?

Aye you’re right about the power cuts in the 70’s. Not a failing of Labour, but of the global financial markets and the knock on effect if a huge surge in oil prices.

It is clear as day that the UK is on a path of self destruction otherwise why not keep the last remaining back up coal plant running till at least 2026??

We now import steel from China and wood from North America to burn in our power stations which all come over in diesel gugglung ships the hypocrisy of this is beyond belief.

All we ate doing is costing ourselves more money and causing more misery and destroying communities that have depended on these industries for nearly 200 years all at the same tome we are pricing our businesses out of the market so we can not compete on tbe global stage.

Take bud for an example in the last 2 years for UK top shelf it has increased by over 25% at least in tbe cost of production you go USA or Canada and Thailand its less than one third of tbe price that is just one example right there.

What happens if we are attacked in this unstable worlds how are we going to make steel to make tanks and build bridges and defend ourselves have we not learnt from the energy crisis recently to see how that went down?

We are the only country now in the world of the g20 that can not make steel anymore!?!

A crisis that we could have avoided by building nuclear plants and using North Sea gas and oil instead we sold all our future stock to Europe and brought Gasprom at lower rates thinking it was a great idea. Then the waR started and now we can even use our own gas and oil. We could of been like Norway and become a tax less country through oil and gas sales instead we sold the drilling rights to corporations and yet again get screwed by our government.

While at the same time introducing renewable energy and planting trees alongside renewing peat bogs that would help with flooding and eat the carbon.

Instead we choose to depend on a regime that does not have our interests at heart and has used it a a way to weaken us even more.

And choose to mine for lithium and do that far far away so we can make a moral case that it is all for the greater good and sod the destruction that this mining is now causing

Every decision that previous or current government make is always based on a 4 year plan which does not serve the interest of this country.

Look at the evidence so far it is all there.

All of these electric cars are using a massive amount of “extra” electricity that wasn’t needed a few years ago.
There has not been any significant investment in building additional power stations as far as I’m aware.
The Indian economy is worth much more than the UKs yet India as a nation has always suffered from regular planned power cuts (also known as Load Shedding) simply because it does not generate enough electricity to power the whole country at the same time.
I don’t think we are that far away from having some kind of electricity & carbon footprint allowance/rationing over here.
I’ve seen articles that suggest soon each family is only going to be allowed to fly once every 2 years.
