Eurostar travel advice please

I’m travelling from London to Germany on Eurostar soon.

Does anyone know how strict their security checks are? I want to take some edibles with me (essential for this trip) but have no idea how risky doing that actually is.

My understanding is that any checks take place before boarding the train, and they’re generally more lowkey than airport security. But I could be totally wrong about that - and so I don’t know whether to stash edibles in my bag, on my body, or avoid taking them altogether.

And any suggestions for decent but stealthy looking edibles are very welcome too.

I got a rub down search at St Pacras by a black security dude. I had a bag of stinking chronic in my sock that I could smell from “above”
When he stood up after patting my trousers, he had a smirk on his face and waved me through!
Bottom line is, if you’re gonna carry, expect to be nabbed, and anything else is a bonus. Or go via Rotterdam on Eurostar and buy there.

It is true that train passengers are not as frequently searched as passengers who are at the airport. However, if authorities are looking for smugglers, they may conduct searches on trains, especially those coming from the Netherlands.

The security checks are usually relaxed as long as your products are well packaged and you remain calm. It is advisable to clearly state that you are a tourist when traveling. Edibles should be fine as long as you vary the packaging and types of edibles you carry.

One word of caution though: if you come back through Paris I have seen dogs at the Paris Eurostar departure before.

So I wouldn't bring anything back...but that should be fairly easy 🤣

I brought in edibles from Amsterdam to London. No checks. Don't act suspicious and there will be no reason to check you going from UK to Germany. But as others have said everything is available in Germany. You'd be better off using someone like Euroterps to save yourself the embarrassment over a few edibles

I’m not really staying in one place long enough to place a German order, so think I might follow the haribo plan. Good to hear no checks coming from Amsterdam - I expect that would be a more likely route for them. I’m old, so can blend into the background fairly easily!

No recent experience of Eurostar.

But considering the situation in Germany, I wouldn't risk taking anything with me.

I'd organise a drop before I left, so I could relax on the train.

What situation in Germany? I know tourists can’t buy legally there, but I’d assumed things were a little more relaxed than before legalisation…and they don’t arrest for small amounts

As euroterps said if you're taking physical then best method I'd say is keep it vac packed. No scanners as far as I'm aware so only smell to mask, failing that eddie's or carts

I'm new to Little Biggy and Bitcoin. It hasn't been a productive experience yet. I wish I knew a week ago what I know now! 😭

Had to setup a Kraken account to buy BTC. Shocked at transaction fees.

Then needed a wallet. All because my very old Coinbase account was closed due to suspected illegal activity.

Found out I had to wait 72 hours to withdraw the coin (longer than that, maybe because it was over the weekend).

Cleared today and bought straight away (more fees and I still have no idea if I can use Lightning and if so how. Maybe someone could advise please).

Message received from seller, I'm next! Yay!!!

Subsequent message received re minimum purchases (I'm a first timer) and that my order is cancelled and will be refunded.

Just realised from reading another post that the refund is going to take at least two days and more fees!

I'll have to wait for my refund, top up my BTC, order from another seller and I'm not going to get my smoke in time for my planned camping trip.

Just told the wife and she's not happy with me. Arggggh! 🙄

I will not however be perturbed. I will get some grass after a very long period of abstinence. And it will be the best smoke (if the most expensive) ever!!!
