how 2 control kids use of little biggy
guard the entry point
you can block littlebiggy.org at many levels of your device and network. if you need any help with your particular device use the thread below.

bitcoin barrier
even with your credit card in hand it's not so easy for kids to get bitcoins without ID and proof of residence in many places. only a very determined kid will get through this barrier.

last stand of defence: mail box
this is the critical point to block kids purchases of items.

the easiest way would be to poke their eyes out with forks, then they wont be exposed to anything bad on the internet.

problem fixed

Urm mines now 20 but a couple of observations

1, that’s one rich kid to be able to afford little biggy rates maybe if your kids got access to that kind if cash maybe start there.

2, my boy had about 5 dealers in his school class. County lines is rife you’ve got 12 year olds with black bags full of weed and much much worse - much more if an issue imo one of them got robbed and the little bastards raped him, a 15 year old and they videoed it and distributed it. I bet his parents wished he was on little biggy

3, again loads of fake prescription drugs online which the kids go mad for, fake vallium and adderal which are actually killing people

I get what your saying and yes I’m a parent and certainly won’t be encouraging weed use but on the list of things as a parent I worry about, this is pretty low on my list. Also I agree with nick In the respect that most 14 year olds are more tech savvy than us oldies and will laugh at our controls while bypassing them.

Holy crap - then why ISN'T your son on little biggy?

Weed won't harm anyone in my humble opinion, but hanging about with and being near gangs of wee scumbags? That'll sure do it

Please if what you say is true I'd be making sure I sorted my son myself. These county lines fuckers are bad news

So this is how we stop children. Now how do we stop the childish adults? 😂

We are not to be stopped. I explained to my wife that out of all of her children the only one never to grow up will be me 😉

I take offence at that 😝

It’s only weed…..

Would you let your kid smoke weed lmao? their brains aren't even fully developed..
Ninetynine
You cant stop kids doing what they want if they are determined, personally id tell them to be careful as definetely not good for young brains...i believe their was less psychosis back in the day due to lower levels of THC

Yep. True. You can’t stop a determined kid. All you can do is try foster a relationship of trust. Talk to them about drugs.
I’d rather my kid has knowledge and safe access to clean drugs like weed and psychedelics (that’s all I do)
I’d much rather my kid did that than alcohol, which can be bought at any off license.

I was trying to keep my daily weed consumption a secret from my 15 year old. In the end when we had a convo about it, turns out they've been doing it for months, knows a few dealers (some at school) and knows about different strains etc.
At first I felt really guilty thinking that despite not sharing the info, my smoking (always away from the house) was a bad influence. In the end I think it was a good thing as we could talk about it openly (not inc my wife!). I was able to give advice to always choose company and location carefully and warnings about Spice, Flacca and other dangerous drugs and have built trust between us. I hear about what is being smoked, and local events (sadly a murder a few moths ago related to small time dealers known to my teenager). I also warn about locations to avoid (local Mc Donalds seems to be a hotbed!). I also advised (when asked) about psychedelics (which I've had decades ago) how it's not necessarily a party/fun experience and achieved an understanding of the real dangers of alcohol and severely bad ones like crack, coke, heroin etc. I feel it's been positive overall but I still refuse to buy for my teenager as that would be risky domestically (due to wife's disaproval). and feels like a step to far at least atm

You likely had 0% influence on his decision to start weed and yeah now you are in an uncanny valley between understanding and enabling. Good luck bigga at the end of the day you can only go with your heart when you get here.

Weed is turning into the most innocent option for kids these days. Watch out for prescription pain killers, they are the gateway to a path that kills.
pollypuff20
No I wouldn’t but this topic is about building tech barriers and “lines of defence” that I wouldn’t do either.

Out of interest: What age did you have your first spliff?

12 and there was no Internet

I was 13 but then weed was 4-6% THC. We are to blame for our kids getting into problems with ultra strong weed because we keep demanding it! 🤷‍♂️

I was 17 and there didn't seem to be weed, it was Moroccan Black, sometimes Red Leb. Any available weed seemed expensive in comparison

I was 13 but like you said, weed was really weak in comparison back then!

Weed is isn’t great really is it?most ppl I know has turned them weird,it makes me into an arse the day after I’ve smoked it,I shouldn’t smoke it really I smoke a tiny bit every 2 weeks and it still has a negative effect on me,and it’s fucking addictive, like I’m thinking about it all of the time,I like it when I’m stoned but too many negatives for me.
Just probably not for me.
For under 18s definitely a no no.

Dchedda
I only dabble a little. I don’t like getting super stoned. Not a fan of couch lock or paranoia
Only a one hit or a few puffs of vape every now and then. I also prefer sativa, more of a social vibe for me. Puff puff chat chat.

It’s not for everybody. But then, what is?

wow, I've been smoking every day for at least the last 16 years so yes, I guess I'm addicted ('you don't say' I hear you say!), been that way for decades but actually don't smoke much.
I get through about 3.5g of weed every 4 weeks which works out about £1 per day, I can justify it to myself as I hardly drink at all and was spending more than that when I was a more regular drinker

HOW do you get through 3.5g over a month whilst consuming everyday. I really would love to know how to save bud and money too

Whole site behind login and disable robots.txt so search engines can’t crawl. 2 quick and simple fixes to make this site much more secure and keep it under the radar! I’d happily help myself if the owners needed developers

I’m shit with remembering links, if I couldn’t google, I’d never find the site again.
No visible content without login is a good idea. Bit how do you stop a kid from registering? Can’t be anonymous and verify at the same time

Wrong ;)

On wifi a teenager is as easily blocked as anyone if you control your router and don't share the password, just block the site in question and you are done.

Most of us hold the purse-strings on our kids mobile subscriptions, credit card use, and control the mailbox keys in their house. Any help with this stuff just ask.

If they can get through all of that you have something functionally equivalent to an adult on your hands.

We've gone beyond security now and the remaining options are surveillance and parenting. I'll leave this dirty work to you all :)

As I say,you don't have teenage offspring,do you? My 13 year old daughter can go through a Parental control faster than I can set them and yes, when it comes to tech, teenagers are little adults and have a far better understanding of tech than older age groups.

I sure do home slice, I'm not sure what you mean by parental controls but that's not what you should rely on.

Strong passwords and keys are not breakable by teenagers. Outside of Hogwarts that is.

the best way to reach a teenager is to message them in class

You can use a mix of 3 browsers to get around parental controls put direct onto phones/laptops. Your best setting restrictions via the router with the IP log in

eddieishigh
A VPN is an easy way around any router blocked sites. Most teenagers could figure that out in my opinion.

It’s just that’s it’s illegal makes the whole thing seedy and shady, it’s absolute nonsense, ridiculously making it legal would actually make it harder for minors to get, but the powers that be are morons as we know. Unfortunately weed is the last thing you should be worried about in this modern world, as many have said ylu simply cannot stop them, but I also don’t think turning a blind eye is also right, kind of a don’t take the piss attitude is the one to take, only one I feel that works.

You can use a service such a nextDNS which is a DNS service that you can control and as such limit what sites any device hitting the DNS server can access.
I run it on my router at home and have two profiles one for adults and one for kids.
You can aslo set the DNS server on their mobile phone so they cant access this stuff even when at a mates house or on 4G.
Its not fool proof but its a good layer of defence.
Of course it doesnt help if their Mum is derranged and insists they have two mobile phones
