**Strain Information**
**Strain Name:** Mimosa Evo
**Vendor:** Keep it Green
**Genetics/Lineage:** Mimosa x Orange Punch
**Purchase Price:** $55 for 3.5g (I got my latest batch as part of a custom order that worked out a little cheaper)
First up - everybody is different. My cannabinol receptors will act differently to yours, so do bear in mind as you read the following text (and all of my reviews) that this is my mind & body’s personal experience with this strain. Got that? Good, now get this: **If I had to choose just one strain of god’s green bud to live on for the rest of my days, it would be Mimosa Evo. Specifically, it would be this Mimosa Evo as grown by Keep it Green.**
Bold claim? Yup (it has surprised me.) Do I stand by it? You betcha, and I don’t say it lightly.
KiG’s Mimosa Evo is one of the most astonishing strains I’ve come across. A Mimosa x Orange Punch cross introduced to the market by Barney’s Farm, this purportedly 60/40 indica-leaning hybrid ticks every box I could want from a bag o’ weed. Much of that is down to Keep it Green’s excellent growing. Glorious bag appeal, a divine nose and taste, and a potent high that consistently delivers no matter the occasion or where my tolerance is at. I tend to have 10+ strains in at any given time which are enjoyed on rotation. Sometimes, lesser potent strains pale because of this. The Evo has consistently stood out as the best of the bunch for almost a year now, which means it’s gone toe-to-toe with roughly 20 other strains in my stash.
**Delivery time/Stealth/Comms**
I’ve had 3 orders from Keep it Green since joining LittleBiggy and received each of them in good time. Delivery has taken a couple of days longer than some other vendors, perhaps due to location and postage times, but they always arrive and prove worth the wait. Stealth is great, utilizing multiple layers to conceal stinking buds that fill the room with a dank aroma as soon as they’re cracked open.
Comms are generally good and I would encourage messaging him if you want a custom order, though I will say they could be improved as I’ve had a couple of enquires go unanswered. That said, if it’s anything truly urgent or related to an outstanding order I find KiG gets back in good time and with complete responses. The unanswered queries I’ve had have only been follow up questions while nerding out over his buds. Though I do wish he’d get back to me with clarification on the contents of the excellent cartridge I was surprised with on my most recent order.
**Mimosa Evo Bud Appearance/Nose**
Weed Porn - a gold standard of trimming and curing. I’ve had 3 batches of this Evo now and each time it has been some of the best bag appeal I’ve ever seen. Forget about today’s compressed bud trend, Keep it Green’s Mimosa Evo comes at you with bold old school appeal; featuring large bright green buds covered in orange pistils and glistening in trichs. I’ve included a picture of the previous grow to show the consistency KiG is maintaining here from one batch to the next. The buds are perfectly cured: dry and sticky with bounce back when squeezed.
The nose is a delight. Sticking my snout in the bag and closing my eyes, I’m overwhelmed with a citrusy grapefruit peel aroma, which opens up even more on the grind. And here’s why I believe KiG deserves extra credit: before joining LittleBiggy earlier this year, I had a batch of Mimosa Evo from elsewhere. Different grower, different website. It was nice. Nice enough for me to want it again, but paled in comparison to what KiG is producing here. The aroma and terps were nowhere near this quality. Considering the consistent standard of KiG’s other strains - Spritz, Tropi’cuz, Coco Milk, Orange Hill Special - I don’t think many will argue with me proclaiming this guy as an actual terps wizard.
Also worthy of note is how generous these buds look. They are sizeable and airy and fill bags/jars more than most. I’d be ecstatic if a local plug threw this baggy at me. This extends to the grind, with a little going a long way. I can fill a chamber on the dry herb vape with under 0.1g and still have a very potent sesh.
**Sesh Report(s)**
So I’ve spent a lot of time with the Mimosa Evo by now and have enjoyed it over many different types of sessions. For me it’s most suitable to a chilled out evening, either solo or socialising, and commands respect even when tolerance is sky high. Seriously, I’d wager this bud could knockout any level of smoker. I’ve paid nearly double the price for buds labelled “Cali” or “A++++” or similar such guff while chasing the weed dragon and they’ve rarely if ever surpassed the potency on offer here.
Starting off at the lower temp ranges of a session vape (176 - 190c), I’m immediately hit with flavours that match the nose. A citrusy grapefruit peel taste envelopes the back of the throat on the inhale. On the exhale there’s an almost fizzy/tangy finish that coats my tongue and saliva glands and hangs around long after the exhale is finished. This bud simply tastes ***EXCELLENT***. Vapour production is impressive for this lower temp range, and it only takes a couple of big draws on a session device to start feeling the Evo’s initial effects: a warm head rush with light feelings of displacement, while any feelings of stress or racing thoughts going into the sesh are dampened and replaced with a happiness and meditative-like contentment. As it settles in behind the eyes it produces one of my favourite weed effects - light short-term memory loss and a feeling of adventure for even the most mundane of tasks.
Dialling up the temps from 190C to the combustion flirting 220C zones, the Evo puts out more than a horny hooker working for tips. I get a seemingly endless supply of big thick vapour clouds with this bud and am always impressed with its staying power. Easily capable of a 15-20min high-temp session and produces good flavourful vapour throughout.
Hitting these higher temps takes me to what I can only describe as my perfect place. A focused, relaxed, happy mind is accompanied by strong yet not overpowering body effects. I’m not hopelessly couch locked by any means but wherever I choose to settle I feel comfortable and content. Inflammation in my wrist and shoulder seem to completely dissipate and my legs feel heavy and happy in just about any position I can reasonably contort. To give an example: my dog was recently injured on a walk (glass in the paw, bastards) so I decided to spend a couple of evenings sat on the floor with him. I literally sat cross legged on the floor for an entire football match stroking my dog and did not feel any discomfort. Sans-Mimosa Evo I’d only last 10mins or so in this kind of position before aches, pins and needles set in. There are of course other strains capable of this effect but for me they often come at the expense of a heavier couch lock or the mental high is overly potent. Conversely, I’ve had a sesh on the Mimosa Evo and happily spent an hour knocking down a fence in the garden. This strain is the mutts nuts as far as diversity goes and can suit activity where needed. But as mentioned above, it’s definitely most suitable to chilling for me in order to really appreciate the body effects.
Mentally, I find Mimosa Evo perfect for consuming media, doom scrolling on the phone and for all manner of conversations. Powerful focusing effects ensure I’m wholly present with whatever I’m doing. It’s hilariously terrible for multi-tasking though, I can be midway through something on my phone, get distracted by the TV and easily spend the next 30mins with phone in hand gawping at whatever’s grabbed my attention on screen.
When it comes to munchies, while the Evo doesn’t induce munchies on it’s own it certainly makes me appreciate good flavours and can lead to big goodies and takeaway seshes if I get hungry while high. My favourite combination is a nice hot drink. This particular high pairs lovely with a big cup of peppermint tea or coffee for some reason; bonus points if the coffee is made irish.
The Evo’s effects last for hours and taper off without hangover, something I really appreciate these days. Enjoyed late at night, she produces a satisfying sleep and is cleared out of my system by morning. Sessions earlier in the day evaporate out of the body without any noticeable grogginess later on.
**In summary**
Outstanding. For me, the best of the best - I will (and have) put my name to that. As said at the beginning of this review, this would be my number 1 pick if I had to choose one strain for the rest of my life. I have a large collection of strains at the moment (reviews incoming) thanks to LittleBiggy and my lack of self control, and while I appreciate many of them for the individual effects and terps they bring to the table, none of them tick as many boxes all at once as Keep it Green’s Mimosa Evo. I can only hope KiG continues to produce this bud for years to come and keeps the price fair. At $55 for a 3.5g including delivery, its a fairly premium price that sits somewhere between a top-end UK grown and “Cali”, but you can trust this is an artisan product worth the cost - tastes, effects and bag appeal all feel as top-end as any other weed I’ve come across in 25+ years of smoking.
