IMO the best method for you right now would be to open revolut acc. This can be done pretty much instantly. The no card account is free.
You can deposit £ to revolut for free, then move the £ to a cbase wallet or other wallet.
Then you can exchange on coinbase or whatever you use.
Crypto on revolut has high fees plus they are really hot on transfer of crypto.
You can actually transfer straight into cbase from rather than using card to deposit . I have done that with no issues. Cbase lowest fees.
FYI - Revolut do not report to hmrc, and are based in Lithuania.
They are FCA compliant though, your bank should have no issue with a transfer to them.
