You talked about the revolutionary war. It was the same situation. We didn’t even have a standing professional army, yet we won our freedom when nobody would have thought we had any chance of defeating our foes. You also have to take into account if the army would go to war against the people who they swore to protect. If the order is given, l really doubt they would kill their fellow Americans.
