Hey biggas hope you're all having a nice high weekend, i'm not, thanks to royal mail strikes!

anyway just wanted to bring this up for probably the 10th time this year, we NEED the site to switch from the use of dollars to the obviously more sensible option of british pounds, the conversion rate right now is so fucked and it's costing vendors lots of money and costing buyers shitloads of money having to deal with this!

EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR NOW COSTS YOU 10P MORE THAN IT DID MERELY A FEW WEEKS AGO, LET THAT SINK IN FOR A MOMENT!

it's making every single order a decent amount more expensive and it's all adding up very fucking quickly, not to mention the price of everything everywhere going up, and all this for what? surely it's literally the click of a button to change the sites currency from stupid $ to £... what are we waiting for seriously? and why does it constantly have to be bought up for nothing to ever be done about it? it's leaving a really shit taste in my mouth after every order knowing i'm being bent over by extra costs out of our control that could be solved at the click of a button for an LB admin months and months ago... what is going on....

If things keep going at this rate it will be $1:£1 before the end of the year, which seems absolutely insane but it's probably going to get even worse than that...

honestly within the context of this site and without trying to gaslight any biggas, this is probably one of, if not the most important subject / topic of discussion we could possibly be having right now, please do not let this slide this time biggas

we need as much attention and votes drawn to this as possible, this affects every single one of the sites users with every single order, this needs to sorted with the utmost of urgency, the damage has already been done for months now and it only gets worse with every single order

Sadly I don't think a lot on here realise how much both vendors and customers are being shafted by the conversion.

I think we need *every* currency here and as a European changing to £ would suck worse. at least the $ is a standard for the world if you are only going to have 1.

Probably 95% or more of this sites sales are all UK to UK, it just makes absolutely no sense the way it's currently operating

Good point well made, I think with the general instability of the world economy LB need to ensure the site remains economically viable, peeps are skint or more skint than usual and it is going to get worse. Thank you Hesh for taking the time to Spearhead this, it’s is indeed of benefit to all users, get behind this biggas before the algos sink the subject again

Thanks for helping keep this topic visible Emz, and also adding your take on it which i couldn't agree with more! things are getting worse VERY quickly and we can't just sit around doing nothing
i'm going to bump this topic every single day till we hear from a borg / admin, the algo's trying to sink it as fast as possible it seems

Man every single order is over 10% more expensive than it was a couple weeks ago, it's so bad i was not happy making an order earlier knowing i'm overpaying for no reason

it's not just the 10% either it's having to buy even more BTC to cover the extra cost meaning more fees for buying the BTC etc etc...

Thanks hesh - very important topic especially with rising cost of living adding pressure in general.

Is anyone able to explain to me why vendors are losing money by having the site set in $? I totally understand how it costs more for buyers, but surely vendors are making more ££ profit if they don't adjust $$ prices downwards periodically? Is it to do with vendor fees being in $ too?

my understanding was, in the case of vendors, the overall price of orders is unnecessarily higher than it needs to be (because of the exchange rate) which will lead to a loss in sales during a time where sales are likely to be down already due to the current economy, just another lose lose situation

just a quick tidbit, but transaxe, LB's payment processor, works in BTC not £ or $, and the fees are a fixed percentage, so i cannot see a reason for this change not to be implemented ASAP

Fully agree can't see LB acting though they will just sit back and watch the impending doom.

Also take into account by the years end markets are going to crash, housing, stocks & crypto's which would take the BTC price to around 10k so vendors also have that to look forward to.

Not only did vendors get hit bad at the start of the year and most are still recovering from that tidal wave we now have a perfect storm brewing and what do we do?? We keep on lowering our prices!!

This is a huge car crash just waiting to happen!!

The only way is to either put your prices up to give yourself a buffer which would mean losing biz or all vendors go on strike till it's sorted which won't happen either.

Otherwise, vendors will be crying in their coco pops after the crash realizing they have been wiped out!

I managed to get stocked up well with one of RealD's promos at the end of June, so I've been pretty well insulated from the exchange rate shenanigans the last couple of months. Now it's time to start looking for a top up and I'm feeling it...

I can't say that it's going to stop me from buying from any vendor on here, mostly due to convenience (its a fecking nightmare finding a dealer irl when your body is fucked and you don't particularly like dealing with people in person), but if the actual dollar prices on here start to rise alongside the exchange rate tanking and all the fees that come with using bitcoin, on my budget, it would definitely force a rethink.

So yeah, I agree with the suggested change and will follow/bump your thread, in hope more than expectation.

dollars is just a denomination, anyway you slice it the sellers will need to explicitly lower their prices if buyers are going to realise any gain here.

it's not just a denomination, prices on here are incredibly rarely / not at all adjusted to the constantly changing exchange rate of dollars to pounds, leading to inherent and frankly unnecessary instability for everyone along with the added instability of bitcoin, it's a lose lose situation, since the vast majority of the buyers on here will have £'s in their bank account, not $'s

a $60 order a month ago was considerably cheaper than a $60 order today for example, and prices haven't changed to account for the devaluing £

there's no need for any of this to happen, which is unanimous at this point, absolutely everyone will gain from this with immediate effect

They definitely do, as we've had changes made before via threads / voting / topics etc

but of course we can't ever seem to actually correspond with the 'admin' so to speak, for obvious security reasons but it's incredibly frustrating!

there's been a LOT of good vendors who have abandoned this place recently due to the total lack of communcation between the vendors and the people who run the site and the glaring issues that still plague the site

there's tens of thousands of £ going through this site on a weekly basis yet it's somehow next to impossible to get even simple changes implemented

I need to make an order right now but it's going to be £15 more expensive than it was a month ago, because we are STILL USING THE WRONG FUCKING CURRENCY

i cannot understand how this issue isn't at the forefront of everyone's mind in the context of this site, this should literally be pinned to the top of the topic wall with hundreds of votes and replies till it's corrected!

Sounds like they need to get on top of it before somebody else dives in and a creates a modern lb type platform with all of the good features and things we wish for here. I can't be too critical of lb though. They are my only platform for buying my medicine. I don't know any real life dealers as I was late to the weed game and none of my friends partake. We all want everything cheaper in life and ultimately somebody usually loses out but this currency change we are after is a win for all three parties involved, vendors, customers and lb devs.

Apologies if I’m being totally dumb here, does happen a lot, but I don’t understand how the dollar - sterling exchange rate is affecting anything.

My understanding is the dollar price next to items is a guide price only, the real price is the bitcoins and it doesn’t matter if your in the UK or the US the bitcoin price is the cost regardless of what currency you are buying bitcoins in.

Are you buying dollars with sterling then buying bitcoin? Or selling coins for dollars and converting to sterling?

Apologies if I’m missing something obvious here.

Let's use a simplified example..

Vendor uploads new item and wants to sell it for £10.

The exchange rate is £1 = $0.50.

Vendor sets a price of $20.

Pound weakens and now £1 = $1.

This means the vendor has to change the price or the buyer has to pay more for the same thing.

As vendors usually sell more than 1 item and the value of the £ is changing so rapidly, it either costs the vendors lots of time to keep the prices accurate or lots of money in lost sales because people don't buy due to increase in price.

I do keep an eye on the btc prices of items and I see them change quite often as much as 10 times an hour, as the price of btc moves.

Do those vendors have to manually adjust their prices or is there a sql script do it?

Seems sensible to have a scriot that’ll adjust the retail price as coin value moves
