Coinbase was looking for nearly 50 quid earlier to send a fiver worth of bitcoin for me. Just tried again just now (22nd April @ 22.30) and my network fee was only about £3.50 for a ~£50 item.

Straight back up to £50 fee to buy £80 worth of BTC within 20 mins! Managed to get the BTC into my wallet with a £3.50 fee, went to send it to the vendor... £90 fee... even checked the fees on buying more BTC to make sure I hadn't made a mistake, nope, also straight back up...

It’s honestly brutal like makes ordering impossible like I can see a fall happening in LB because of this

Tried to send £80 and it wanted £47 pound way to high tired £60 is was £62 go send it joke like

This address has received 5700 transactions in the past few days, each one was for exactly $0.36 incurring ~$10 gas fee each. I assume it has something to do with the RUNES token upgrade that came in with the halving (replacing brc-20). It’s this kind of increased activity causing congestion on the network and raising the fee’s for us bigga’s.

Don’t they know BTC should be exclusively used for shady deals in the dark corners of the internet?

I've noticed a lot of transactions lately where the gas fees are more than the amount sent. Also seen a few wallets with more than $1b in them, and the historic transactions are insane. Maybe there are some things where you don't want to be the one to highlight...

Fees are through the roof because of the halving event. It's not worth buying btc or paying in btc currently. Quite a few posts on here about it already. Unless you're some whale that can afford absurd fees :)

I'd strongly recommend opting for NDD as a lot of sorting offices are prioritising tracked mail and not delivering normal mail whilst they're so busy.

Hey mate. I use Bitpanda as an alternative to Coinbase if the fees are too high on there. Deposit straight from your bank and then buy Bitcoin. If you use the Exodus wallet I believe you can buy Bitcoin there too, although I have never tried.

I buy BTC on Bittylicious via bank tr@nsfer (you have to sign up and get verified first), and then send to an anonymous free Exodus wallet and use that to pay on LB. (don't think Bittylicious is the cheapest option but I've always found this method to be quick and easy, with no issue with bank blocks etc - and I'm a complete novice with crypto)

Gives you an extra layer of protection as well by sending via Exodus.

Oh and I remember someone else mentioning that Kraken was the cheapest platform btw (I've never used it). There are lots of other methods too I'm sure, I just know almost nothing else about BTC so I've stuck to what someone else recommended on here and that worked for me :)

hey mate, yeah you put the address of your Exodus etc wallet (you can get the wallet address under the Receive tab of your wallet). And then buy BTC. Just remember to buy slightly more Bitcoin than you need for the transaction as it'll also cost something to send money from the wallet to LB (it used to be like $1-2 but it's been fluctuating a lot and higher recently - currently it's at $7 or so on Exodus).

With all these fees, I've found the best way is to (when you can), buy larger amounts or pay for multiple transactions at once. Cos the fees (I think) are almost the same whether you get £40 of Bitcoin or £300. And you can group transactions even across vendors on LB - then you're only paying one fee for all of them.

I would very much recommend downloading and sending it to an anonymous BTC wallet such as Electrum after buying on a site/app such as Kraken or Crypto(I personally use this app) as you run the risk of getting royally fucked by HMRC for having "crypto assets" that you haven't paid tax on if you do it directly. Just be careful!

My understanding is that the grassing to HMRC point for them is £10k? Can't find that specifically stated anywhere though, but it's a figure I have in my head for some reason. They're a fucking nightmare to deal with, even when you get a decent accountant with a phone line to them involved. Kraken use a stealth Passport easily google one online. Fill details with stealth passport and send to kraken you will be verified within 5 mins.

Buy bitcoin from kraken with debit/card first purchase is 72 hours before release after that it’s instant.

Send funds from kraken wallet to exodus wallet then send funds to lb when making the order.

Stealth. Fast. Simple ;)

It prob just wants some verification checks but the phone app doesn't tell you that. Have you tried logging into your account on a PC? It will prob tell you it's blocked until you provide ID again.
