There is no stigma to disputes. If you have a plan to resolve it with the seller then let Escrow know your intentions and tell them you will confirm once the action is complete. If the seller doesn’t do what they say then the dispute remains live, if they do then Escrow will cancel it once you inform them.
There is no way you should cancel a dispute on a promise, but even if you did I see no reason why it couldn’t be reopened.
The only time issue on a dispute is raising one before the coin is released to the seller. Once raised it’s live until it’s resolved by either the seller or by Escrow.
The only reason a seller might want it cancelled before sorting you is to prevent Escrow paying out as well (has happened) but like I say- just keep Escrow informed…
