Hello LittleBiggy!
Let’s talk UK Medical Cannabis.
I’ve been a medical cannabis patient here in the UK for the past three months, and I wanted to share a bit about my journey — in case you’re thinking about going down a similar path.
My Conditions:
---
- Anxiety
- Stress/Depression
- Chronic Pain
All of these conditions are officially recorded on my NHS app, through GP appointments — either face-to-face or over the phone.
Once I had those records visible on the app, I sent the information over to AlternaLeaf ahead of my first consultation to check whether I might be eligible for medical cannabis treatment.
First Appointment:
---
The first appointment went really well. The doctor was welcoming, took the time to talk through my symptoms, and explained the types of cannabis flower available through their partner pharmacies.
However, I did need to provide a bit more evidence before moving forward in the process.
And that’s where things got interesting — especially for someone like me (and probably many others) who hasn’t been to the doctor regularly over the years. Even though I had been struggling for a while, none of it was officially on my medical record.
So how did I fix that?
Downloaded and signed up for the NHS app
- Scheduled both a phone call and an in-person appointment with my GP
- Made sure my conditions were clearly documented in my NHS medical records
- Once that was sorted, I sent the updated records back to AlternaLeaf and was officially accepted into the program.
My Prescription:
---
I was prescribed 60g of cannabis flower per month, to be used with a dry herb vaporiser.
To keep initial costs down, I went with the MAX V3 PRO. It’s decent — especially with the dosing capsule set, which is great for convenience when you're out and about.
That said, I’m already planning to upgrade to something like the Mighty or Crafty for better performance and consistency.
One of my biggest goals is to quit tobacco completely. And while the MAX V3 PRO works, I’ve found that a higher-end vaporiser like the Mighty or Crafty would really help me take that step properly. The improved airflow, precise temperature control, and overall vapor quality make a huge difference when you’re trying to break old habits for good.
Costs:

Medical cannabis in the UK is far more accessible than many people think.
Prices start from just £5.50 per gram — or even lower — depending on the strain, THC/CBD content, and pharmacy you use.
Some strains are more expensive depending on potency or availability, but considering you're getting regulated, medical-grade cannabis delivered directly to your door, it’s great value — especially compared to the uncertainty and inconsistency of street alternatives.
If you're in the UK and thinking about exploring medical cannabis but aren’t sure where to begin, I hope this helps point you in the right direction.
The biggest first step? Get your condition on record. Speak to your GP, get it documented, and you’ll be in a much better place to access the care and options available to you legally.
