Yes, Democracy has been hijacked. The Founder's vision of a republic ruled by its people through its elected representatives has become the very type of corporate oligarchy they rebelled against to form this country in the first place. Bank of America, et al, has replaced the East India Company and the entire government has become the second coming of King George.

No. It's impotent rage. Democracy functions on the electorate's participation. If more than half of protesters did not vote, then those people abstained from participating in Democracy. What they are doing now is just airing grievances, but offering no solutions in which they could be remedied.

There appears little primal about the need to be governed and enforce laws. Then again, this attempt to draw such a link comes, predictably, from a politician.
