Hi mate, you can buy 1g 3.5 or ounce Mylar bags on Amazon.

You get 100 for £30 and we’ve found these a great option.

We put ours in the Mylar bag and then double vac seal and we’ve never had a problem.

I know Santander still do, but they're stopping at some point this year. A friend has tried with Starling and the Co-op and neither of them allowed him to purchase crypto. I'd have thought this would be a much bigger topic on LB as once all UK banks enforce this, this site will either have to evolve or die. Wonder what the next step is going to be?

Monzo digital bank

Yep. Monzo is the way to go. Lloyds froze my account when I tried to buy Bitcoin 6 months ago. I had to speak to their fraud team to unlock it. Very stressful.

I'm with Halifax and not had any issues purchasing crypto, apparently RBS and Natwest are friendly to crypto purchases too.

That is who i switched to(HBOS) after Virgin decided to stop me buying btc through blockchain,they asured me they would not be blocking my transactions as i need btc for more than just on here,so far so good and visa seem to be less annoying than mastercard for fraud checks

Get your self to lloyds or any bank that accept crypto my friend and apply with new bank to purchase any bitcoin. I read all over people's banks have stopped this . Not looking forward to when or if llloyds start this also but lloyds fair for me only other sites accept PayPal and credit card only some tho . But don't think little biggy do this

Thanks mate, apparently all companies and banks have to upgrade to this within 1 year. So changing banks won’t work as they have upgraded.
I’m stumped now!

I've been to hell and back with this too.

It IS a big issue on LB but given the number of permutations between banking providers and exchanges some people are affected where others don't even though they are on the same exchanges (and different banks) or vice versa.

I won't name which UK bank suddenly decided to block all my coinbase purchase attempts back in Nov (and my subsequent attempts to do so form 6 other popular exchanges) but as some of you have said this is Government driven (another thing to remember when we go to vote in a couple of years biggas -> I for one will not forget and not forgive).

Having worked in the City in the 90s I bet you that this bout of Governmental control freakishness will probably stop at the dragon gates at the beginning of Fleet Street (where the current PM still has his mates from his previous job remember?).

For us little people and commoners we are facing a complete clamp down on most if not all UK banks.

My November rant is well documented and I can now confirm that the one and only crypto exchange approved by the FCA UK enabled me to purchase on LB again (as of yesterday after the mandatory 60 days wait for debit card transfers).

It turned out to my advantage given the BC has gone up big time since then but I'm wary of boasting about that one exchange (you know the one) allowing us to do business here in case the fuzz is reading our posts (although they seem to be pretty busy indulging in more reprehensible behaviour themselves these days).

The whole money laundering bollox is just an excuse to assert control (did PPE medpro issue crypto transactions - nope - neither did private foreign funders of some of the UK political parties).

At least there is a glimpse of hope now that the FCA has rubber stamped one (and one only) of the exchanges for approval.

Updating my own post...

A quick web search seem to point to a few other exchanges being FCA approved as of late.

There is a search engine on the FCA website to check whether an exchange is approved for crypto business HOWEVER Bitpanda is listed there and I had no luck in transferring from my bank into Bitpanda so go figure.

The one which I ended up using is also listed there and it works - everything else failed (and I've tried every other one suggested here apart from revolut and the one I'm currently using).

The morale is (vendors are going to love me saying this - vendors you're welcome to send freebies my way ;0) ):

1) stash up as much as you can in case things go wrong

2) ask other biggas about their experience

3) do you research and be prepared to switch exchanges at short notice

People keep saying to go with Lloyds- I’ve been a Lloyds customer since God was a boy and they’ve done everything possible to block my crypto purchases. I’ve had to escalate my complaints three times and make various declarations and it’s still touch and go…
I know we only call it as we find it but my experience is that Lloyds is no great solution 🙈..

Lol its me polly who says lloyds. Only cos I had no bad experiences touch wood. But I also say any bank who accept bitcoin try with them . Il be swapping as soon as llloyds stop mine. Maybe people have different experiences with banks. Bless

Get a separate virtual card or so that you can load using your original card. Then use the virtual or other online account to purchase your crypto currency. Best account in my opinion is Monzo, had no problems with them.

Get yourself the XTP (TAP) app, you can buy/send Bitcoin and others through that, even comes with own card if you want one to spend crypto! 😉👍
