Ayup biggas, hope you’re all doing well. I haven’t been very active on here lately - haven’t had any free time in months - but that’ll hopefully change soon. So many new vendors and biggas! This very late review is mainly for an item (bought 4 months’ ago) that isn’t available now. Possibly not much use to anyone then (unless TGD are planning to get more in) but I thought someone might enjoy the photos or reading an old fart’s jibber.
Strawberries n’ Cream Moon Rocks (Photos attached and in comments below) (approx £120 per 3.5g):
Described as “Highly potent flower dipped in pure hash oil, then layered with heavy amounts of Keif (crystal residue containing terpenes and cannabinoids), to deliver an exceptional head and body high. Approximately 45-50% THC”
I should start by saying that I hadn’t had moon rocks before, and didn’t really know what I was doing. The highest THC strains I’ve had were supposedly around 33% - I don’t know whether those figures are accurate or not, and I’m sure THC claims are often suspect. Still, these moon rocks were listed at “approximately 45-50% THC” and, although I’m not someone who particularly seeks out high THC levels, I was looking forward to seeing how they’d affect the experience. My first thought (on finally unwrapping the many layers of stealth and padded protection) was “They’re tiny!!!” When I’d seen photos of moon rocks before I hadn’t realised the scale of what I was seeing - I thought they’d be ‘3-buds-to-an-eighth’-size! I realise now that moon rocks of the size I’d imagined would be as out of my financial reach as actual moon rocks. I put them on the scale and, sure enough, they were slightly overweight - and I realised how much hash oil and keif must’ve been added for these little buds to weigh that much! Through the glass jar I’m looking at small, leafless boulders (up to 15mm diameter) that are pretty much black everywhere, and with more ‘keif’ than The Rolling Stones. I unscrew the jar and - Jesus Christ! - the smell bursts out and fills the room… and it’s absolutely divine! The smell is of a creamy strawberry cheesecake with a hint of chocolate, just like the dessert was sitting right there under my nose - natural, not synthetic smelling at all - and much, much stronger! We’re all accustomed to stinking the house out but I’ve never had buds that smell this strong before, and nothing that matches its strain name so exactly. For weeks I kept opening the jar to take a little sniff, it was that intoxicating. Even now, 4 months later, I’ve saved a couple of spliffs’ worth and that gorgeous smell is still there, strong, though a little more vanilla-y.
I had trouble at first finding the best way to enjoy them. I should say that they’re not the easiest to handle, very oily and sticky, and they quickly clog up any blades, etc. I had an impatient wait for a new water pipe to arrive - I wanted to treat them with respect and new glassware! - and I kept seeing advice online to put a small piece in a bowl on a bed of weed. That didn’t work for me - even toking gently the weed would burn away quickly, leaving the rock slightly smouldering at best. It was very hot on my old man’s air-bags and the taste wasn’t great (and sometimes weird - I swear a had a couple of savoury, falafel-like hits!) I persevered with the bong and then borrowed back an old herb vaporiser I’d given away, but couldn’t get on with that either. In the end I adapted the advice of another reviewer and started cutting small slivers from the rocks and putting them in a line in my tobacco joints, similar to rolling hash into wires/worms, and that worked perfectly for me. The little bit of mild baccy helped with the oiliness and heat, and the joints smoked fine and even. It was still a tiny bit hot (from all the keif, no doubt) but no more than many smokes I’ve had and, with gentle, even tokes, it was smooth enough for my old lungs. The taste was pleasant and enjoyable - similar to some Zkittklez bud and nice, oily hash cocktail joints I’d been having - though far more potent! Occasionally the taste of the strawberries and cream would come through really strong, and that was particularly pleasant. The hit was immediate and strong - an immediate ‘mind expansion’-type of hit where everything up top seems to blow open and get breezy, a broadening of perception, and changes in vision, like the edges of your vision are expanding away, with things seeming to vibrate (or perceiving some level of the actual vibration of things! 😉). My buddy (also a 30+ year smoking veteran) started talking *a lot* about “the shadows and bumps on the walls and radiator”, quite obsessively, interspersed with an occasional “now it’s even more trippy” or “now the radiator looks tiny!”, etc. For me, it was mildly trippy, like the first excited hints of feeling yourself starting to come up on acid or mdma, but definitely strong :) We both had a strong cosy, comfortably warm feeling in our chests, and big, daft smiles. More body feelings, tingling and vibrations in toes and then legs, and a dry mouth. No head chatter, nothing that might make us twitchy or anxious, etc, just a good, strong, bright feeling. After the initial ‘rushiness’ it settles into a really nice ‘up’ high that’s still sociable and very pleasant.
They’re definitely an experience, another top-tier TGD item that I’d always like to have to hand. Expensive but such a rare treat! And maybe that’s for the best, they were all I wanted when I had them! Thank you to the gents for making them available. For any bud smokers (with a decent tolerance) who haven’t tried concentrates and would like to explore a higher THC experience (with some amazing smells and flavours), I thoroughly recommend them. If the gents list them again and I’ve got the funds I’ll definitely buy more.
Zkittlez Hash (approx £21 per 3.5g):
After trying the Rocks at the top of TGD’s menu (price-wise) I also wanted to try the bottom, their Zkittlez hash (which is still available). I’ve tried and enjoyed all of their recent hashes, and I’ve really been enjoying Zkittlez-type flower strains recently (Cali-X’s Xkittlex and Wizard Trees’ Zangria were both excellent - the Zangria genuinely smelled, tasted and had the warm, woozy, sociable effects of Sangria, absolutely amazing!) The Zkittlez hash rolls easily into wires/worms - if not, you can briefly show it your lighter from across the room. It’s a smooth smoke, with a little of that Zkittlez sweetness, a little minty freshness and a little of that exotic, oily, black hash taste, but it’s also a slightly drier, more ‘pollen-y’ type of taste than something like an Afghani black. It has a pleasant hit, bright in the head but not chattery, and affects the eyes a little. The body feeling is mellow and it’s a mild, dreamy, pleasant high. Maybe more of a daytime/early evening smoke for the tolerant, but I’ve been enjoying it anytime. Very nice for the price, and I’ve bought quite a lot of it since this first order :) Definitely recommended 👍
Just thought I’d mention a couple of other TGD-related items whilst here:
Cannatique’s Lemon Raspberry Gelato (approx £67 per 3.5g):
I said a while back in my Doja Zkittlez review that it was the 2nd nicest smoke I’d tasted in over 30 years of smoking (the first place being held by one mythical Blueberry strain I was ‘allowed a go on’ about 20 years ago!) That 2nd place has now been topped, quite significantly, by a small sample of the LRG that TGD provided. For anyone who likes fruity flavoured strains this was absolutely amazing, really clearly standing out, way above other fruity strains. I’m not a fan of strong lemon tastes and this was just massive, bold raspberry flavours, very strong and leaving a nice taste on the lips. A nice, medium-strength high too, mellow enough to be OK for the daytime (for the tolerant) but tasty enough to enjoy anytime. Unfortunately, it’d sold out by the time I could afford it 😢. Will jump on it if it’s listed again.
EXTREMERZ CHEWS (approx £22 per pack of 5 chews at 50mg per chew):
Lastly, I thought I’d mention a recent experience on TGD’s edibles (which are still available). I don’t have much experience in having edibles that I didn’t make myself so I was looking forward to trying these. Me and my buddy took one (50mg) each, about 20 minutes before going into an ‘immersive’ Van Gogh exhibition. I’m not necessarily a fan of that type of art (the outing was for my buddy) but the exhibition projects pieces of art, and animates them, onto the particular structure of the space you’re in (often a church) so that you’re surrounded by the artist’s work flowing and moving around you. I could feel myself coming up on the chew surprisingly quickly (having eaten a decent meal earlier too) and very much enjoyed feeling mellow and mildly trippy in that environment. The film (which constantly repeats) lasts around 35 minutes and I watched it at least twice, and could’ve happily stayed longer in that state. Then I had my first real VR experience while perched on a high, rotating bar stool - whilst gliding ‘on rails’ through houses and scenes in and around an animated village world, created from Van Gogh’s paintings. Quite trippy and wobbly at first but was eventually doing 360s on the bar stool and probably looking quite the nob to anyone watching. Had an excellent time. The taste was a little unusual, though I suspect that’s down to the ‘maoam’ (kids’ sweets?) flavour, and there are lots of other flavours available. Was debating beforehand whether we needed to each take 2 at the same time, and were glad we didn’t, it might’ve been a bit too much in that setting. We did have a second each later, and I ended up falling headfirst into a hot-tub, desperate to stop my coil king vape pen from touching the water. That’s maybe less to do with the chews and more me seeming to turn into Frank Spencer whenever there’s a hot-tub around (any biggas get that now-ancient reference?) Anyway, it seems there’s lots of fun to be had with these chews and we’ve ordered more since, to have on a bike ride. I’ll post pictures of my wounds if I survive, I’m far too old and too stoned to be on a bike.
I’ve had so many excellent products since finding LB and TGD - the tastes, highs and quality are on a completely different level to what I was getting before. The Moon Rocks were another excellent experience - thank you to TGD for making them available.
It might be a while before I can reply to any comments. Cheers and best wishes, biggas 👍
