Tron Ares 3D - Stoner Experience
I will be disappointed with all of stoned society if loads of us aren't indulging in a mixture of drugs and the audio visual spectacular Tron Ares in 3d.

It's truly made for a spaced out cinema experience. I wouldn't want to give any spoilers away and the plot is so light that it'd be easy to accidentally blurt out in it's entirety. However, if you happened to be on mushrooms or a heavy edible then the simplistic plot and your capacity to fathom a storyline will be well matched.

That simplicity will allow you to sit back and enjoy the thrill ride of the spacey visuals and the pumping mix of electronica and distortion which perfectly binds the film together into a borderline magical experience.

I found it a most entertaining way to spend a couple of hours. It'd probably be more popular if they gave out my RSO cookies in the foyer instead of popcorn.

Thanks for reading the worst film review ever. I desperately didn't want to blow the plot but I do hope it inspires some of you to go check it out. There was only 8 people in the cinema I watched it in and I'm pretty sure I was more spangled than all of them combined. That's a shame.

Always wanted to try the 3d cinema but never actually got around to it. One would have thought back in the 90s that this kind of cinema would be the standard in 2025 lol
I've seen some videos of this taken to another level where the walls have visuals as if the screen was extended to the sides. Must be trippy to watch.

The IMAX at Waterloo has a screen that's bigger than your field of vision and has speakers behind the screen so sound tracks where it's really coming from..3d films there are genuinely unnerving. Well worth going to see anything there just for the experience. There's other IMAX around the country but I've no idea what they're like. The BMI one though will blow your mind man.

8 people in the cinema even spread widely across the seats is still 8 too many people for me, so I'll wait for a good torrent haha

Wasnt expecting much from it tbf after 10 years in development hell and a dozen different writers, producers and directors all jumping in and out like Hollywood is entirely high on peruvian bam bam doing the fucking hokie kokie churning out brain dead escapist tripe that truly makes the Lumiere brothers turn in their French graves. The decaying of the 20th centuries grandest art form reduced to crappy CGI, half baked scripts and bad acting.

Where was I?

Oh yeah, the 25 years too late Tron. Honestly to hear it is in fact worth watching when I get my shrooms delivery, is very welcome news Roo thanks haha

Not the worst review i've read, shit, Ive had worse published pmsl

The previous Tron Legacy was also very light on plot but the simple story and mix of sound and visual carried it a long way. In the newer one there's probably a little more story but it's probably a little less meaningful. As a Spacey jaunt through light and sound it's joyous. A story needn't be complex to be good. The first cube movie was endlessly simple but they really pulled a lot from it. Probably the best low budget film I've ever seen.

I reckon your Tron mushroom combo will be a winner. A lot of it is clearly shot for 3d though and I'm not sure how much of that you'll pick up on. Some of the cool 3d shots will probably just be lingering pans on a 2d screen for no apparent reason whereas it was like a rollercoaster movie at the cinema in 3d. I'll be interested to see how it compares when it's available.

That's my issue with 3D it never has real purpose? Never enriches the narrative or even experience, just big flashy distraction at the emptiness of the film.

But it dont matter because damn its fun the way i watch 3D at the cinema 🤣

Loved Cube. Gave me claustrophobic nighmtarees for months lol

Modern Hollywood saddens me. Best films have been low budget since tarantino sold Dogs at Sundance, Rodriguez sold El Mariachi and Smith sold Clerks. Streaming has made serials better than films. Crazy how tv has improved so much so fast tbf while film has declined year by year since Lucas showed the world how cheap and practical digital fiming truly was with that god awful prequel trilogy.

The death of 'film' and the rise of 'digital' an age where depth of field is now a flat green screen; but the graphics are amazing 😂

I guess 3d was largely an attempt to make the cinema special again and give people a reason to go. It looks like most people have walked away from it as it's not popular except on certain more visual films.

The TV format has improved immensely but there's not the same payoff as with a good film. Lots of series get cancelled before they get close to making any point or completing a story arc. We get to see endless back stories of minor characters. There's a lot of filler content.

I think the worst thing in Hollywood has been the reboots. Every time they reboot something some poor writer with an original idea gets overlooked. It stifles creativity. I suppose arguably that the Tron movie that started this discussion sits in that category.

That pay off tho is much more personally impactive due to the time spent with that narrative and tv shows have dozens of story threads to tie up unlike a film which is self contained. Totally agree though, cancelled shows and bad endings are fat too common and something studios must figure out asap

Tv offers more of a venue to return than film tho which can offer salvation and redemption like Dexter did

And yeah I totally agree filler is a big issue on shows the longer the season the worse it gets. Whxih is where I think British uk thrives, short self contained seasons that follow a clear arc.

3D is just a gimmick, was in the 70s when it flopped and it is now as box office numbers attest too lol its where cinema screwed up massively. Historically when times were bad cinemas offered mega deals to encourage people to go in, Hollywood doubled efforts on quality not quantity to give value for money. Modern Hollywood said fuck cinema, fuck the audience and threw gimmicks at us instead. Breaking a century old relationship with viewers and venue and studios. Losing rhe "cinemas" social relevance and community based function entirely.

Lots of shows fully deserved cancellation as they artificially try to stretch the plot endlessly. Every episode has a hook into the next, each season the same. The modern format makes a story almost impossible to complete. It's a shame that they can't complete a story in season 1 and have people think, hey that's a great story - I'd like another one. Instead they keep fleshing it out and cliff hanging it until it's so bloated that the core point is lost.

I mostly download series in their entirety after they've completed. It's a bit sad but I ask AI if the story completes before starting it. I invested too much time in half finished stories that I'll never know the end of.

One of the only exceptions to this has been the Foundation series which I think has been brilliant so far. One of the best pieces of TV Scifi I've seen. I really hope they complete it.

It's interesting actually how cinema loses it's visitors. We went for burritos after Tron. That'd be an easy sale for a cinema. We walked through the empty foyer to leave. That area could be a vibrant and film based bar / cafe. So you could hang out and discuss the film after. You'd likely meet up beforehand too. The cinema would be a social event. It'd significantly extend the time and money you'd spend there. But then the films need to be worth discussing too.

What's next from you, book recommendations?

We should definitely all experience a few things stoned. A night out at the cinema, a good walk in nature, spending time with friends etc. The list goes on. You've inspired me to see what is on at the local cinema this weekend and may have created the thought of a curry with some friends.

It would appear I'm going to have to plan a stoners night out.

Back in the day a couple of mates went to see gremlins 2 on acid. Midway through the film the gremlins take over the projector. Mates had a wee freak out and legged it from the cinema.

I hadn't been to the cinema for ages. I was surprised how quiet it was. Glad I went though. I had a great time.

At the Cinema Hulk Hogan was in that scene but on the video version it was totally different for some reason 🤔

The eternal internal struggle between wanting to see visually stunning films in the cinema but also wanting to smoke during them at home 😞

I'll get a projector setup someday 🤞

Edibles are the answer. I think you'd have gotten away with vaping in the cinema I was in. It's definitely worth the extra screen size and particularly the extra sound although it was an expensive evening I must admit.
